Michu goes under the knife to cure an ongoing ankle complaint. Southampton’s injury problems ease ahead of a trip to Cardiff. Danny Welbeck is back in training for United. John O’Shea is a doubt for Sunderland’s visit to Everton. Leighton Baines is back for Everton, whilst Dimitar Berbatov is set for a late fitness test before Fulham’s Boxing Day clash with Norwich:

Swansea have been dealt a blow with the news that Michu will undergo an ankle operation to cure the problems that have troubled him for much of the season. Michael Laudrup admitted he expects to be without his talisman for up to six weeks.

Southampton could welcome back a number of their walking wounded for the visit to Cardiff. Luke Shaw and Pablo Osvaldo are doubts after missing the loss to Spurs with a throat infection and a knock to the right leg respectively. Nathaniel Clyne and Kelvin Davis are “approaching full fitness”, however, and could also feature against the Bluebirds.

Danny Welbeck is back in training for United after recovering from the sore knee that forced him off against West Ham. Reports suggest the forward has travelled with the squad to Hull on Boxing Day. Elsewhere, Nemanja Vidic “is fine” following injury and a throat infection in the past week.

Dimitar Berbatov is a doubt for Fulham’s clash with Norwich after missing the loss to City with a groin problem. Rene Meulensteen remains hopeful the Bulgarian will pass a late test to feature at Carrow Road, though the visitors will be without Philippe Senderos, who is ruled out next two league encounters after coming off injured early with a left abductor problem.

Leighton Baines is available for selection once again after a month out with a broken toe. Meanwhile, Nikica Jelavic is a doubt with a hamstring problem, whilst Roberto Martinez is hopeful of having Steven Pienaar available after he limped off in the second half at Swansea.

John O’Shea is an injury concern for Gus Poyet ahead of the Everton game. The Sunderland captain sustained a shoulder injury in the stalemate with Norwich, and has been assessed by the club’s medical staff. The Black Cats are already without the suspended Wes Brown after the defender saw red against Norwich, and could be forced to field a makeshift centre-back pairing should O’Shea fail to make it.

Jon Flanagan is a concern for Liverpool’s trip to the Etihad. The young defender has a hamstring injury and will be assessed, with Martin Kelly poised to deputise after replacing Flanagan in the second half against Cardiff.

Christian Benteke is “unlikely” to feature in Villa’s home clash against Palace due to a knee problem, though the Belgian has not been ruled out altogether by manager Paul Lambert.

All this, plus plenty of other crumbs of knowledge from around the Premier League press conferences have been collected for you and placed lovingly in our Team News section, along with our predicted lineups. We will keep you updated on any fresh stuff via our Twitter Feed.

Probably doesn't mean anything but Walcott does have a very good fpl record against West Ham. I do think that has a psychological advantage for players and given that arsenal will be going all out for the win, I do think Walcott is a good differential and a good differential captain choice as well

I was just thinking about that actually, and the temptation to (c) is growing stronger and stronger...

He is a differential enough just being in my team... but with him as (c) and returning a double figure haul with Suarez et al blanking would do wonders for our respective ranks...

Just to make it even more tasty a proposition...

Here are Theo's score against West Ham in recent years... 3 goals and 4 assists in 3 games... 😯

        10/11 - West Ham 0 - 3 Arsenal - Theo 1G, 2A
        12/13 - West Ham 1 - 3 Arsenal - Theo 1G, 1A
        12/13 - Arsenal 5 - 1 West Ham - Theo 1G, 1A

Yup these are the numbers I'm talking about the essentially it's the same west ham team as last season. West ham themselves aren't looking great at the moment and I expect arsenal to put them to the sword.

On what you said above, a successful Walcott captaincy will definitely do our ranks wonders. Suarez might get a goal or assist but I really don't see it being another game with 6 goals...surely not.

I'll probably go with Walcott and cross my fingers. Captain Suarez and you stay where you are. Don't captain Suarez and you either rise dramatically or drop by a few K. My ML rivals are starting to cancel out my differentials so might as well go for the punt now

Walcott or Rooney firm favs for me. Silva as an outside punt.

But having had silva in the best, best be happy with the consistent but non explosive scores to supplement an explosive (c) one. If he explodes, all the better.

I have a theory. Ramsey to play this game and rested for the next. He is assured to play against Cardiff. So I think next week I am going for a City mid who I think will play against CPL and than for the Car game I am gonna bring Arsenal mid probably Ozil, cause he should be rested this game. Thoughts on this plan?

Couldn't help myself... Done Terry & Ramsey > M.Olsson & Walcott for a hit before Theo rose yesterday 🙁 Leaves me with funds to do Luna > Evans for the weekend. T'was an unnecessary hit but the right decision in the scheme of things. Paid 7.5 Ramsey and Walcott is a differential in my H2H League which is my priority. Team for the weekend will be:

    Szczesny
    Coleman - Chester - Evans

West Ham fixtures seems to change to better, anyone keeping Ravel,
Instead of going for last GW's cheap mid flavour, Januzaj/Barkley/Whitts/Sterling?

Yeah, also leaning against Januzaj . But with his fixtures, ravel could also get an up turn, I think. So not decided.

I'm keeping for now but in truth I would love to have sterling. Possibly when I have no other pressing issues I'll make that switch.

His stats are just so much worse than for the others, and I have lost points in the past for being dragged in to play him in the good games only to see him fail and not undeservingly.

Get Walcott +cheap for Coutinho and one of Clyne, Williams Redmond or Morrison. Do it for -4 or wait until Sat and get it for free.Hope that helps

I wouldn't captain someone who relies on fk's and pens for his points. Look for the potential hatty

Which order would you do these?

One to play, two on the bench.

    A) Clyne (car)
    B) Burner (SOT)
    C) Ravel (ARS)

    Currently A, C, B

    Cheers 🙂

Any love for Chiriches around here? Fixtures not bad and a few injuries to spurs' backline.
