We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

eh Sterling deserves time over Henderson IMO..

nevertheless he only cost me 5.0 and I'll probably be able to sell him for 5.1..

Was thinking of doing moves over 2GW for free but this weeks returns will possibly outweigh the 4 points lost.

Would you say Suarez this year has been as essential to Liverpool as Bale was to Spurs last season?

To be completely honest, I don't think Pool woulda won as many games without him...

Yes to start the season Sturridge was on fire, but without either Pool would be a disaster going forward.

Same with Bale at Spurs. Without Bale Spurs had no clue how to attack.

Not bashing either team btw, just my opinion.

Think its over-reaction. Silva to Sterling? No way, it'll cost you more to put him out and get him back then Sterling will score no matter who your getting in defence its not worth it in my opinion.

Repost, I would be grateful if you could vote please-

    Ramsey to-

    A) Cabaye (Have Remy)
    B) Barkley (Decent fixtures, have Lukaku)
    C) Lallana

Decided against Sterling and Eriksen. Mainly due to Sterling likely to be dropped soon because of Sturridge and Eriksen is a bit hit or miss.

    Let The Debate Begin!!
    (Got lost on last page..)

See I look at it this way...

Hull beat liverpool 3-1, Hull are on form, Hull have a great defence and are set up really nicely, just won 6-0 and confidence is high! Suarez has drawn 2 blanks in a row, so slightly (ever so slightly) out of form. (Cant believe I just said that)

Cardiff lost 0-3 to Arsenal, Cardiff are out of form, haven't been looking good recently, have no manager at the moment, no leader at the club, lots of distraction behind the scenes, therefore possibly a low morale around the club??

Therefore.. Wally (C) and Suarez (VC) ????

Was tempted to cash in on Ramsey, but he could be back next GW, and don't jave enough cash to do Lallana or Cabaye. No-one else tempts me. Silva only out one week. Bit worried at least one of Barkley and Hazard could be rested tho, then I'm really in trouble. Another fairly unpredictable rotation week ahead me thinks...

I tend to agree, Kosc the smart long term choice though. But with the WC in 3 weeks I think I could be fine without

Worried about Suarez (C). Hull would have learned how to shut Suarez out from the city and Chelsea game.

Hull are weak against the quick counter..even United dominated them and we're pretty poor..

Hull not good defending the counter though. Suarez 77% likely to score and 17% chance of hat trick according to betting odds. Kind of a dilemma cause if you dont captain and he blanks your gonna shoot up. If you dont captain and he does well your gonna sink like a stone. I think the logical thing is to captain, it's the safest option but as has been proved in recent weeks the premier league can be illogical.

Surealy they would have learned from getting caught? Also they can analyse footage from the chelsea game and Mou's tactics to shut suarez out

I'm not worried but thinking Walcott just to make the GW more interesting. Captaining Suarez means his score cancels out as everyone else does the same. No fun betting on small gains

true, unless he has a massive game.

If you captain suarez and he has a massive game vast majority gain so you actually won't gain many places. You also won't lose much if he does badly
If you captain Walcott and Suarez has a massive game then prepare a room for a big fat red arrow..but if Suarez blanks and Walcott scores big then you are talking big gains.
So one is an exciting gamble, one is just covering the field.
            I may still bottle it

tHi, still trying to sort out this doozy-- Yaya vs. Hazard (transfer in for Ozil). Gut leaning towards Yaya. Could really use any thoughts/input though. TIA

Hazard averaged 70+ min per game last season..he doesn't need many rests..Yaya might be good for a 1 week punt with Silva out but after that he's back to box-to-box and MOSTLY getting points from pens/fks/occasional assists as his surging runs will be fewer and further in between..

        just my opinion.

Feels like hazard in a bit of a purple patch at the moment, taking on players and creating plenty of opportunities for himself. Yaya will continue to chug along though it will be impressive if he maintains his current conversion until the end of the season. So hazard for now and if his form dries up then swap them later.

Sterling owners who bought him last week before his first rise. Just look at the silver lining of cashing in on .1m.. 😐
