Steven Gerrard could be set to return for Liverpool’s clash with Hull. Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are ruled out for Arsenal, while Theo Walcott is amongst a number of players to be assessed. Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are back in training for Villa. James Collins and James Tomkins are likely to miss out for West Ham’s trip to Fulham. Martin Demichelis is still sidelined for City, Mauricio Pochettino is still uncertain of Artur Boruc’s comeback date as the Saints welcome Chelsea to St Mary’s:

Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Kieran Gibbs have all been ruled out of Arsenal’s home game against Cardiff in Arsene Wenger’s early morning press conference. The trio join Aaron Ramsey on the sidelines, while Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky, Thomas Vermaelen, Jack Wilshere and Nacho Monreal are all to beassessed today.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed Steven Gerrard is back in training and “will see how he is” for tomorrow’s match with Hull. Joe Allen is sidelined for the Reds, whilst Mamadou Sakho is also likely to miss out as Rodgers awaits scan results on the hamstring injury that forced him out of Sunday’s game at Chelsea.

Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are back in training ahead of Villa’s crucial trip to Sunderland. Paul Lambert is optimistic over their availability against the Black Cats and confirmed both “look ok”, though will continue to be assessed over the next 24 hours.

West Ham’s injury woes are showing little sign of abating ahead of a trip to Fulham. James Collins and James Tomkins are almost certainly out of the showdown, whilst further up the pitch, Ravel Morrison is also looking unlikely to travel, according to the club’s official website.

Martin Demichelis remains on the sidelines for City, whilst Stevan Jovetic is also ruled out yet again along with Sergio Aguero and Micah Richards as Manuel Pellegrini’s side roll up to the Liberty. Joe Hart is available despite suffering a facial injury against Palace at the weekend.

Shane Long has returned to training ahead of West Brom’s home clash with Newcastle. The forward is expected to recover from a calf complaint, though Victor Anichebe and Chris Brunt remain doubts – the latter is hoping to train this morning. The Baggies have Nicolas Anelka available for selection as the FA investigate his goal celebration against West Ham last weekend.

Marko Arnautovic is expected to recover from illness in time for Stoke’s home game with Everton. Glenn Whelan and Marc Wilson return from one-match suspensions but Andy Wilkinson is out with a heel problem. For the Toffees, Sylvain Distin is expected to shake off a minor hamstring problem sustained against Southampton last weekend – a relief for Roberto Martinez, with Phil Jagielka already ruled out.

Pablo Osvaldo remains a doubt for Southampton’s home game with Chelsea after picking up a leg knock against Newcastle. Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has also conceded there “is no definite timeline” as to when Artur Boruc will return from a hand injury.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

People on here said that Chelsea would rest Hazard in the Liverpool match, which would be absolutely an insane thing to do.

Liverpool has now lost 2 games, and really need this home win against a solid Hull, I don't think Sterling will get rested like everyone assumes. Suggesting he'll get rested is not as crazy as those that said Hazard would, but it still doesn't make sense when they really need the 3 points.

Can someone help me with my dilema? I still hold Ramsey and have held him since GW1 (sell value 6.7m). My problem is if I trade him out I'm only going to get Cabaye at best. I think I may have to keep him as no other Mid at this price can out score him over rthe long term. By traqded him I don't gain alot od cash to use elsewhere and when he's fit (in around 2 GWs) I will have to buy him back in at top dollar. My other Mids are Yaya, Haz and Walcott (with Suarez, Negs and Luka)

    Any thoughts?

Anyone considering a cheap 3rd striker? I'm pondering on JRod to accompany Suarez and Aguero up front.

From February onwards Saints fixtures move them up the ticker and JRod is secure of starts, £2.7m less than Lukaku, trying to get on the plane to Brazil and playing ahead of Lambert in most games. He is critical to everything and being fed by Lallana, scoring very well and keeping pace with the likes of Lukaku.

Doing this allows me to have the best midfield I want without compromising the defence too much as my team value isn't the best.

Any views on this approach or on other cheap third strikers worthy of inclusion from Feb 1st onwards?

With Osvaldo always hovering about I wouldn't consider J-Rod completely nailed on especially after all the money they spent to bring him in.

They could always bring another striker in as well. Never know.

He was match fit and on the bench
I think it was mostly built on Wenger's tactical need at that point in the game, Newcastle were really digging in, throwing up long balls for Ameobi and co.
He needed players like Jenkinson and some one like Bendtner who could stay up front to receive any clearances
Don't think it was anything to do with his fitness

It's always a kick in the balls when you look at your teams fixtures and look at the potential big point scorers only to find out the day before the game that those players are injured or likely to be rested.

This has always been a problem with the stronger squads where managers use the less difficult fixtures to rest their star players.

Arsenal injuries are a little concerning... was expecting them to blow Cardiff away, so I punted on Cazorla in for Ozil - his record is excellent when he plays alongside both Walcott and Podolski, (assists in both league matches this has happened, one of which was only for 25 mins) which I expect him to tomorrow.

        I don't think so.

A lot of credible sources suggesting that a 10 million bid buys him.

My guess is that he has a slight niggle, has fallen out with Big Sam and the club are looking to move him on to finance a forward.

That said we are so desperate for points he could start against Fulham.

As a West Ham fan I would rather Sam went than Rav

Arsenal starting to overstretch their squad, which is now looking limited without Ozil or Ramsey. They're still a good side, but Arsene's clearly been pushing them as far as he could, and they're all starting to pickup injuries.

More injuries are a worry - but losing Ozil and Ramsey doesn't seem like a total calamity when you have the likes of Theo, Podolski & soon Ox back - for once i actually feel like we have enough depth in midfield to cope with injuries - up front however is a different matter altogether...

Nope, he's got an eye for goal, he's not afraid to shoot from distance & he's also got a wicked left foot - i rate him higher than Arsene seems to...

good finisher on his left peg, but poor work rate, poor movement, poor hold up play. he is better as a left forward or support striker.

If you think Arsenal lack midfield depth that's your opinion - my opinion is that Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Arteta, Flamini, Ox, Walcott, Podolski, Rosicky & (if he ever leaves the treatment table) Diaby - is actually a pretty robust midfield with as much depth as any club in the premier league...

    Anyone keeping Ravel?

Way I read the WH news is that he's fit to travel (as per D.Golds tweet) and that the WH website got it wrong that he was out. Hence they've amended the article removing his name from those that won't travel.

Bench isn't good enough for me though. Need him to start otherwise might as well get Sterling?

Any truth in the rumours that he,s been sold already?

    Mert Evans MOllson

    Hazard Walcott Cabaye Januzaj

    Suarez Rooney Lukaku

    Bench: Vlaar Distin JWP Marshall

How did United wingers play v Norwich?

Worth playing either Vlaar (sun) or Distin (sto) ahead of Januzaj (TOT)?

Reaaaaalllly tempted to shift Rooney out and put Podolski in for a punt. Roons isn't guaranteed to play and it seems Pod will be now Giroud is out.

    Should I?

Could be a thing of beauty!

Quantifying the 'could' part of that sentence is the key.

If Rooney was confirmed out I'd probably go for it!

I'm considering the same thing but waiting to hear about Rooney first. I'll be bricking if I ship him out and he plays vs Spurs.

Depends whether we want to keep Roons into the WC or not. I'm not convinced I want to keep him. RVP will be back soon too.

Ward, Gabbidon or Bardsley are around that price or upgrade to Evans, Skrtel or Kos.

Sorry guys, repost as i would really appreciate a good advice here:

I took -4 to get Kos and Giroud in this week as differentials to cut the gap at my Private leagues...and now i see Arsenal news... this season is not going to end soon enough!

Is it worth to take another hit (-8) and get rid of Giroud or I should just suck it?
