United’s fringe player Fabio needed fewer than five minutes to make his mark during Sunday afternoon’s FA Cup loss to Swansea. Replacing the injured Rio Ferdinand on 76 minutes, as Chris Smalling moved to centre-half, the Brazilian received his marching orders for a reckless lunge on Swansea’s Jose Cañas in the 80th minute of the 2-1 defeat:

Fabio – who has played just once in the league all season for David Moyes – now finds himself sidelined for three matches. He will therefore miss this evening’s Capital One Cup Semi-Final first leg against Sunderland in addition to the upcoming league clashes against Swansea and Chelsea.

City’s Dedryck Boyata will miss Wednesday’s Capital One Cup clash against West Ham after being dismissed in the weekend FA Cup draw at Blackburn. Handed a rare chance to impress by Manuel Pellegrini at Ewood Park, his eagerness got the better of him as two yellows brought his afternoon to an early close and his one-game ban means Pablo Zabaleta is likely to be fielded at right-back against the Hammers. The Argentine’s owners would have been hopeful of a rest but, with Micah Richards still injured, Zabaleta looks the obvious option.

Elsewhere, Southampton’s Pablo Osvaldo serves the second of a three-match ban for violent behaviour this weekend. The Italian international has already missed the cup win over Burnley but will also be sidelined for league games against West Brom and Sunderland. With Rickie Lambert forced off early due to a leg problem, Jay Rodriguez looks in pole position to be fielded as the lone striker against the Baggies at St Mary’s.

Newcastle’s Mathieu Debuchy will serve the second game of a three-match ban this weekend as the Magpies entertain City at St James’ Park, whilst West Ham skipper Kevin Nolan’s league prospects have been somewhat helped by his side’s cup ties. Nolan is currently banned for four games but, having sat out the weekend FA Cup loss at Forest, he will also miss tomorrow’s Capital One Cup clash with City, meaning he will skip just two league encounters (car, NEW) before returning for the Gameweek 23 trip to Chelsea.

The weekend cup ties ensured the Suspension Tightrope was kept busy, with 18 players having now received more than five yellow cards. Swansea’s Chico Flores, Chelsea’s Ramires and Villa duo Ashley Westwood and Ciaran Clark all picked up their sixth cautions of the campaign, though the latter two have some way to go to match their team-mate Fabian Delph. The midfielder is now the outright Tightrope leader on eight yellows – two more bookings before the second Sunday of April (Gameweek 34) and he’ll be looking at a suspension.

Moyes has never (maybe once?) played Zaha, it's a worthless bench spot. If Rooney was anywhere near being fit for Saturday, he would at least be on the bench for a 30 minute or less run out in case we needed it (which we probably will). The fact that this is the first leg supports this point rather than detracts from it IMO..if he's not fit today, nothing will change in 3-4 days..a groin pull is a groin pull and they take forever to recover from especially if you keep pressuring it.

I'm still mulling it over, but I may just WC today and ship him off..or at least take a -4 to do so..I highly, highly doubt he plays this weekend with Chelsea and the 2nd leg coming up after that..

think he's gone today, sick of playing this game with Moyes..we NEED Rooney but we also need a fit Rooney..don't want it to become a chronic injury..

toying with who to drop where still but looking at
        Boruc - Davis
        Kos - Chester - Ward - Azpi - Baines - Burner
        Gerrard - Silva - Haz - Ozil - Eriksen
        Suarez - JRod - Ade

or keep Coleman instead of getting Baines and Burner > Nasty

Rooney will play vs Swansea, 100%.

That game is more important than this in the grander scheme.

However, what we do know is that Rooney is carrying an injury that needs "managing", and given United's predicament, he won't be given the ample time off to get it fully healed, therefore he will continue to be in and out at varying intervals to ensure the injury doesn't completely crock him.

Maybe when RVP returns this will change and he can be given more than a week off.

Anyone else feel their WC hand will be forced if Rooney is out injured as well this weekend?
Flanagan, Walcott out. Cabaye, Rooney doubtful. Already taken a -4 to get Morrison, Collins out. Ouch.

I was thinking so. But it'd ruin my draft completely (waiting for Boruc, Aguero, Mutch to recover for WC), sigh.

Kosc because he'll pick up more bonus points. Sagna could be on his way, may make an impact on performances etc

Kosc plays in a great way to attract BAPS and Sagna is playing as far forward as the likes of Walker early season...nothing in it...both maybe.

I think so. Gazzinga just played because Davis and Boruc were both injured

    For early wildcarders ..
I Think the best walcott replacement is Ramsey ! yeah right ramsey !
i dont know why i dont see his name much nowadays he has a chance even if not , he will have next week , so why waste a transfere when u can have a decent backup for this week (Whittingham for ex) and ramsey as a sub , figure out who will you sell for aguero next week and save the cash for it..
