After a weekend of FA Cup action, Fantasy managers are back in the saddle as the Gameweek 21 deadline approaches. Here are the scenarios and line-ups we’re keeping a keen eye on this time around:

Solskjaer’s Starting Line-Up
The arrival of new boy Magnus Wolff Eikrem from Heerenveen could be set to shake up the Cardiff midfield as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to make his mark. Peter Whittingham has played every minute of the season so far but there are fears his starting berth may come under threat from the new boy, whilst, at the back, Ben Turner’s regular role may also be in question if Solskjaer hands Mark Hudson a chance alongside Steven Caulker. Up top, Andreas Cornelius was given a start away to Newcastle last weekend and whilst Fraizer Campbell climbed off the bench to notch, the club’s record signing may well retain his place at home to West Ham.

Wenger’s Solution for Theo
Whilst the Gunners have no real like-for-like replacement for Theo Walcott on the right, Arsene Wenger has numerous midfield alternatives at his disposal. If, as expected, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil take up the left and central roles in the attacking midfield three, it still leaves Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Serge Gnabry vying for contention away to Villa this coming Monday. Factor in the imminent return of Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and it’s clear the Gunners aren’t lacking in options – if Ramsey is fielded centrally upon his return, though, it opens up the right flank for a real differential contender if any of the above-mentioned names can nail down a regular role in the stricken Walcott’s absence.

Berbatov’s Form
Returning from injury in the previous Gameweek, the Bulgarian has now notched in each of his last three league appearances under Rene Meulensteen. With an assist also accrued under the new manager, Berbatov’s turnaround in Fantasy fortunes has been marked since the departure of Martin Jol – a home clash against Sunderland gives the Cottagers the perfect platform to grab all three points and if Berbatov can deliver again, a price of 7.0 and ownership of 3% may see him pencilled into more Wildcard drafts over the next week or two.

Lallana and Rodriguez against the Baggies
With an upcoming set of 10 fixtures that is rated second to none by our Season Ticker, the Saints duo will be placed under the microscope by many Fantasy managers for this weekend’s home clash with West Brom. At 6.2, Rodriguez is the best-value forward in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game and has produced eight goals and a pair of assists in the last 14 Gameweeks, whilst the 7.3-priced Lallana sits fifth in the midfield standings on 95 points – for many, it’s either one or the other and Saturday’s performance may be decisive.

Eriksen and Adebayor at Home to Palace
Three wins, a draw and nine goals scored in the last four league games highlights Tottenham’s improvement under Tim Sherwood. The new man in charge’s decision to move to 4-4-2 and go on the attack has been key to his side’s recent success – Spurs scored nine goals in Andre Villas-Boas’ last 10 league games by comparison. Having grabbed a goal apiece at Old Trafford, both Eriksen and Adebayor have earned significant investment since the last Gameweek, with over 53,000 and 69,000 Fantasy managers acquiring their respective services. Eriksen has racked up 27 points across those four fixtures and Adebayor has produced 31 points – a home game against Palace hands both a chance to stake a claim for inclusion in our winter wildcards.

Negredo on the Road
A stunning hat-trick in last night’s Capital One Cup demolition of West Ham continued the Spaniard’s outstanding run of home displays. Negredo has now scored 15 goals in as many games in all competitions at the Etihad yet, on the road, he has struggled in the league. After scoring in his first away game of the season, the 9.8-priced forward has mustered a single assist in City’s subsequent nine – a trip to Newcastle, where the hosts have Mathieu Debuchy suspended, Fabricio Coloccini injured and Tim Krul a minor doubt may help remedy his away day problems and reinforce his Fantasy potential.

Sturridge’s Availability
The rumours of a return to action this weekend are gaining more and more credibility. Sidelined since Gameweek 12 after sustaining an ankle injury in training, Sturridge’s potential comeback would see a change in formation for Brendan Rodgers’ side, with the Reds expected to revert to a 4-4-2, allowing the former Chelsea man to partner Luis Suarez up top. Such a scenario may well end Raheem Sterling’s recent bandwagon, with Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson handed the wide roles on either side of Steven Gerrard and Lucas. Now down to 9.1 from a season-high 10.0, Sturridge’s return would offer us the option of a player who has averaged 6.4 points per game this term – amongst regulars, only Suarez, Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney have managed more.

The Injury Worries in Midfield
At the point of writing, only three of the seven most popular midfielders in the FPL game do not have injury concerns ahead of the weekend. Yaya Toure (45% ownership) limped out of City’s cup win over West Ham, Ross Barkley (31%) is nursing a toe problem picked up against QPR last weekend, Yohan Cabaye (16%) has yet to train for Newcastle due to an Achilles complaint, whilst Aaron Ramsey (37%) remains on the sidelines with a groin problem for Arsenal. Many Fantasy squads will be hit hard if the likes of Toure and Barkley miss out this weekend and their absence could well be the catalyst for winter wildcards to be flourished. As mentioned, the likes of Lallana and Eriksen are handed the chance to impress, whilst David Silva, Steven Gerrard and Mesut Ozil are all back from suspension or injury – plenty of options are out there for those who fancy shaking up the template.

Need a few more opinions on these WC options. Finding it too close to call. I already own J Rod and Yaya.

    A) Lallana and Negredo

Pros: Cash left over to do a nice, easy Negredo > Aguero FT later.
Cons: Have to "risk" double Southampton attack.

    B) Lukaku and Silva

Pros: Lukaku probably a better long term prospect than Negredo.
Cons: More expensive, so more difficult to bring in Aguero.

A all day long. Lallana playing well now at the center of all Saints moves and will be trying extra hard to get into the England squad for Brazil. Negredo finally looking dangerous, would not surprise me if he scored 1 or 2 this weeeknd

SWANSEA City have been dealt a double injury blow with Dutch duo Jonathan de Guzman and Dwight Tiendalli both out of Saturday's return trip to Old Trafford.

Good to see you back Demi.

With all Swansea's in-again-out-again midfielders I lose track of what's what there. Does JdG out do anything for Pozuelo's chances? Or is that all about Pablo?

Been looking through some videos of J.Rod's goals.

Not super-impressed, I have to say. I saw five of them; two were good, three were quite jammy and one in particular went in despite poor technique (in my opinion).

    I think I'm back on Lallana & Bony/Ade

He's scored in both games against United so far and everyone can scent blood at OT these days. And Spurs aren't exactly tight at the back under Sherwood so I'm happy to punt.

Im a Saints seaon ticket holder and Lallana is in my WC as opposed to JRod. Don't get me wrong JRod is great and a huge asset to the team but Lallana gets involved in everything and is in the box creating stuff all the time. Technically he is way above JRod too.

No nothing. Saints go very quiet on key players injuries as they did with Lallana last season. I think he is a few games off. For anyone interested there is rumour of Osvaldo moving to Italy with Gaston pretty certain to go in the same direction. No idea who is coming in other than the usual story about Astori coming into central defence.

think I'll worry about it nearer the time tbh, as I haven't fully decided, Lallana is likely to be more consistent. Much might depend on who signs as I'd rather not own Adebayor tbh. So for me to go Lallana I'd need a stand out striker option, like Ba on loan to a decent side.

    Silva Hazard Gerrard (Noone Colback)

with 3.3m ITB after which i will most likely go terry>azpi and go ade>aguero or berahino>sturridge. Too risky?

I watched Liverpool v Stoke at Andield, and Liverpool could have scored 5. I don't think The Brittania has the same fear factor is used to under Pulis. Also Stoke are without Begovic and Huth.
This is up against Hazard against Hull who have been good defensively, and Ozil who is an unreliable choice. Then there is Lukaku (inconsistent) Ade (inconsistent) Negredo (tough fixture and inconsistent), so I can't see better options.

Afternoon. I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts regarding an early wildcard vs a late wildcard.

I've always been an early Wildcarder in Jan - I've had 20 gameweeks to see who is performing and what the trends are and by doing my wildcard early I can pick players up that a lot of late wildcarders will also pick and not only ride the price rise on them, but also get the player points in whilst late wildcarders wait and decide.

With this in mind and so many people drawing up draft RMWCT's, what are the benefits that I am missing when it comes to playing a later wildcard over an earlier one?

If anyone is interesting here's my team

Hart, Kos, Terry, Turner (Car), Coleman
    Hazard, Erikson, Gnabry, Yaya
    Adebyour, Suarez

    Subs - Aguero, Ramsey, Gabbidon.

I know that Aguero and Ramsey are injured, but by getting them in now I get the benefit of the price increase when all the late WC'ers bring them in. I sold them out high and bought them back low. The rest of the squad is all safe apart from Gnabry who is a punt - but Wenger said some very encouraging things about him, and hey - if it goes wrong, he's third sub for a while.

So, thoughts on benefits of a late WC as opposed to an early one?

Tbh, this games about how many points you get, not how much money you map eon players but when your squad is fully fit, its quite a strong team

You're right, but by doing this so far I have managed to get a team value of around 110m. Thats a lot of cash to strengthen the team and bring in the points getters that you couldnt get/afford in the first half of the season. Appreciate the reply 🙂

I suppose thats a benefit but if the players are doing well then their prices would surely be too high to afford anyway? I base my team on who are the best players and who's on form

I don't see a lot of benefit in the late wildcard either. If you have 3+ changes which you would make if you could right now, I would wildcard. This is my first season though- but I'll be wildcarding this week.

Gnabry isn't third sub, he's the first because you have two injured players.
You don't want all that money tied up in players who are injured, Walcott spent 5 weeks being 'back next week' earlier on in the season.
Have a plan to get them in with transfers but don't put them in yet.
After a red flag they will be price protected for a time (10 days??) so you don't have to worry about them rising before you can get them in.

sorry, re-read as Giroud, Lukaku, Negredo - even Chamakh is better than putting a £12million player on your bench when you have no value tied up in him and no guarantee he'll be back soon.

I'm starting Gnabry this week - have a feeling he will be given his chance. Aguero and Ramsey will be back in the next week/ten days.

I dont mind having expensive players on the bench if I have the team I want out to start with. At the end of the day if I pick my first eleven and have Ramsey, Gabiddon and Gnabry on the bench (for example) where's the problem? Its certainly potentially better than Rat, Livermore and RavMo (for example)

As stated above you're missing out on the points from two premium players and you probably have no playing subs, but it's your team to do with as you wish.

But then the injuries started rolling in and to be honest I've also been glad of the extra time we've been afforded to tinker. You can sketch it out on paper but it isn't the same.

Well If Turner loses his place to Hudson, Gnabry doesn't play at all and Aguero/Ramsey take longer than expected to return, your in trouble.

You also have to consider that there may be games called off over the next 4 weeks and you may regret not having a WC.

Plus new signings could change the fantasy landscape somewhat

If your team is in good shape (as mine is), I'm not using my WC now just to make another 0.5m

Yaya is set to play right? Saw the 'injury' yesterday.
And probably a pretty standard question but for the foreseeable future yaya or silva?

He got injured, came back one, ran 60 yards and scored a goal, played in the second half, and then was subbed as a precaution. I'm certain he will play.

Deal for Estudiantes defender Vergini is close, Poyet confirms. #safc

Anyone know anything about him? Where in defence does he play? Who's most under threat?

See towards the top of this page.

We reckon nobody is under threat, certainly not in the short term anyway.

      He's a CB.

      Centre-back.

Squad player i think. Will struggle to dislodge Brown, and O'shea's club captain.*

*Not that i've seen him play or anything

Odd they seem to have a dearth of CBs though, Brown, O'Shea, Diakite, Cuellar, Roberge.

      Either way Bardsley is safe

    RMT please:
    GKs Marshall - Mannnone
Defenders: Coleman - Sagna - Koscielny - Nastasic - Gabbidon
Midfielders: Yaya - Hazard - Ozil - Eriksen - Januzaj
Attackers: Rooney - Suarez - Adebayor

WC is active but I really dont want to transfer Yaya out since I bought him for 8.5 and can only sell him for 9.3. Same with Rooney - bought him for 10.9 and I dont thnk he will go under 11.2 before he is fit again.

It is a nice team but you are going to have benching headaches and you will get annoyed when you get some of them wrong. Personally I think you have spent too much in defence

It's an amazing team. Surprised you've got the funds.

4 very strong mids, 4 strong defs, Suarez up top and with Rooney an Aguerro entrance plan if needed (downgrade a def).

I'd be overjoyed with that team

My plan is to downgrade coleman for distin or someone else in the 5m price-range to get aguero for rooney, or possibly downgrade ozil as well to get aguero for adebayor.

Both possible however Coleman seems crazy to downgrade if you have money invested in him, which I assume you do baring in mind the cost if that team.

Any of the defenders could be chopped for the 0.7ish needed.

atm I'm selling Rooney for Giroud.

I'll be shifting Lukaku after this week. If Kun is fit I'll get him, if not I'll go Negredo.

I prefer a with that possibility.

Not yet.... Eikrem can play in both a wide and central role, with the central being his preferred.
On the face of it, those with either Whitt or Mutch have cause to be concerned

Quick vote to give me a hand?
    A) Lallana + Ozil + Sagna + Ward
    B) Lallana + Ramsey + Sagna + Terry
    C) Lallana + Ramsey + Ward + Cabaye (Rotating with Lallana and Ramsey for the bench)
    D) Gerrard + Ramsey + Ward + Terry

    Thanks!
