Only just realized Epl games not for 9/10 days 😮
Open ControlsWas Wenger right all along ?..In the summer, amidst growing pressure to buy, Wenger insisted his squad was good enough without having to go to the transfer market...and then he signed Ozil !! He was a magnificent buy and raised the whole club...but did they need him ?..His form has dipped as others have shone..Look at how good the team can be even without Ozil..scarily good...Was he right ?..did they actually need him apart from the psychological lift ?
Open ControlsYes. Although not influential in some games his early performances were key to maintaining such good early season form. Plus he's still a player that can change the game with a pass or something special.
Personally don't think Arsenal would be top of the table if they hadn't signed Ozil. In fact they'd be a good few points off it.Open ControlsOh I agree..Just by signing him the club got a lift and he brought things together..and up until recently his form has been good..But the point is were the players actually good enough all along..just as Wenger said.
Open ControlsI'm gonna say no and I think that it will show come April/May.

Would Ramsey have grown so fast without Özil in the squad?
I reckon not.
And without Ramsey's heroics Arsenal wouldn't be in the position they are this season.
And same goes for Özil. He has had an impact too.Open ControlsIt's quite a complex situation . he had to do something because the fans were turning against him..and the club. It was a masterstroke but he was actually right imo..The squad really was ok all along, it just needed time or a bit of a push (Ozil)..
Open ControlsFlamini gives them steel.
And the growth of the centre backs into a partnerships with Vermaelan dislodged and the goalie maturing are all factors too.
Funny that's so many of these things happened at the one time.Open ControlsYeah...Flamini has been a fantastic signing in a very different way to Ozil..top player at what he does..
Open ControlsThese type of players are often unsung.
Uncle would always ask me what's wrong with Arsenal I'd say no balls.
Flamini Mertesacker Koscielny even Giroud all have balls.Open ControlsThis. Very valid.
Open ControlsYeah they do..tough old team on the quiet. Every team needs them. Liverpool's next signings needs to be a Flamini. The Arsenal CB's are actually a bit pants in some ways.. Mert is slow and Kos dives in a lot..but the CDM's don't leave them too exposed and the whole thing works magnificently...Without that coverage I suspect Merts and Kos might be found out a bit..
Open ControlsI kinda think they compliment each other Koscielny is effectively Mertesackers legs.
I love this kinda stuff I think too often the defensive dog work side of the game is overlooked but good defence wins league titles and all title winning sides have good physicality - a good example would be Jose' old Chelsea side.Open Controls
I'd have to check the stats but I think he'll still be making a significant contribution which just isn't reflected in fpl points. Could be the Modric effect. I remember Jan Molby. Doubt he would have been a fantasy asset but he controlled games from the middle of the park with ease.
Open ControlsTheir improvement has been overstated I think, been pretty much the best team in the league since they won that second leg in Munich - that did more for confidence than Ozil, but the Koscielny/Mertesacker consistent partnership has been the key factor. With that confidence, their young players have come on, like Szczesny, Gibbs and Ramsey, but Ozil definitely was needed - someone with creativity and quality other than Cazorla means they didn't need to rely on him.

Cabaye likely to double rise by next GW? Got a free transfer and was keeping Wilshere as a placeholder for Ramsey but I reckon Cabaye is probably a better placeholder. Already made a sell on profit on Wilshere so it seems sensible to reap another 0.1 from Cabaye and in turn have a better player in my ranks.
Open ControlsOnly pride is preventing me take a hit a week after WC.
There is a chance negredo might not start next two, but I am not sure how well city will do so not sure if aguero in is worth itOpen Controlsone of those conundrums........ negredo dies really poorly, aguero does well, aguero rising extremely fast.....next game is away tho, dont want to be a keejerk jerk..........no doubt will get punished for that logic again like this week
Open Controls
Only 9 of the top 25 don't have Aguero.
I guess they'll be getting him in this week!Open ControlsWho here loves Wardinho?
Open Controlssperoninho for me 😉
Open ControlsRekon we can against Hull, too? Long has a good record at our ground I think though
Open Controls
Is Gabbidon staying?
Bap magnet 😎Open ControlsWe are apparently in for Scott Dann still, no idea if Dann would go straight into our team or even for who though
Open Controls
I just bought in Aguero and i feel so rejuvenated
Open ControlsThere is a glimmer of light for non-Yaya owners. Man City's next 2 fixtures are Spurs away and Chelsea at home, and both teams carry a very real attacking threat.
IF Pellegrini sticks to his 442 (and there really is little evidence to say he'll switch to a 451), he will need Yaya to sit more alongside Fernandinho.
It'll be interesting to see if Silva and Navas will both start given Negredo and Aguero are almost certain to be paired up front. Navas allows City to break quickly which is an important quality for these two games, while Silva knits possession in-between the lines, and I really can't see either being dropped. However, Milner is a reliable option in big games where the opposition is expected to have a more equal share of possession (let's not forget the Bayern Munich away leg).
I think it's going to come down to how confident Pellegrini is. He may take the opinion that his four attacking players can outscore Tottenham and Chelsea, but if not, we can still expect Yaya to take up a more defensive role.
One final point, is that while Yaya is averaging a similar number of shots as Silva and Navas over the past four games or so, he is creating far less chances for others (directly). I'm expecting a drop off in attacking returns and Aguero back on pens.
Yes, this has probably all been said before, but short term, there is a strong argument for going Yaya-less.Open ControlsDont agree with yaya-less part (I dont have him and dont plan to buy him)....but he always scores against big opponents and also away from home.
Open Controls
hope ramsey is back next match
Open ControlsThink we'll know the line-ups before the deadline.
Open Controls
FFS clique.
Open ControlsDo I bring in Bony, do I take Kolarov out, do I fix my bench...
Decisions..Open Controlshands up if you're ditching all Arsenal defense after Palace
o/Open ControlsNah, Sunderland (H), Swansea (H) and Stoke (A) could be three CS. Ditch after that.
Open ControlsNot necessarily. Arsenal keep possession as well as anyone and that's one of the best forms of defence!
Open ControlsAgree with all the above comments. A red square on the ticker for a top of the table club shouldn't be as off-putting as it is for a team lower down the table. These games are often coloured an even deeper shade of red for the opposition team that week, more chance that these big games will produce clean sheets than be high scoring in my opinion.
Open Controls
JRod to sturridge for a 4 point hit?
Open ControlsA) Silva & Noone
B) Lallana & Adam Johnson
?Open ControlsNight all. It's been emotional. 😀
Open ControlsWhere has Towelie gone?
Open ControlsJust finished 12 Years A Slave, must admit I was tearing up at the end. 🙁
Open ControlsNegredo > Kun
Ozil > Cabaye
For a hit? Need to get in Kun ASAP!Open ControlsYes.
Open Controls
Don't mind a few injuries on WC.
Open ControlsTy Burrell is awesome.
Open ControlsGood transfers for me. I assume you have already used WC?
Open ControlsNew high overall ranking. 641. 1,434 points.
Baines, Coleman, Haz and Eriksen still to play.
Wondering if I’ll break the top 500 this week.
Can’t be far off that I reckon.
Thanks as always for advice / feedback / RMTs gents.Open ControlsWill rely on what Baines and Eriksen do
Open ControlsI'm 221 overall on 1452pts so not much in it at all.
Open ControlsWow. Great rank!
Didn't realise it was so close.
You got many to play still?Open ControlsColeman n Hazard man like a lot in top 1k.
I'd expect to slip a bit tomorrow.
Any progress on my 388 from last gw I'll be happy after my 8pt hit.Open ControlsNo rush, right ?
Steady progress is okay with me.
Yeah. Baines is a bit of a differential for me.
We will see how it works out.Open ControlsNo rush but its stupid I'm looking at top going I'm only 50pts off it. Crazy to think i put a good run together last season after I found this site but never expecting what's happened this season so far. Good luck to you man Baines could turn out an inspired pick manys a budget doesn't stretch to him.
Open ControlsThanks Tony
My attitude is that you need to position yourself in the leading group to have any chance in the sprint finish.
A little luck may be involved on the final straight.
But if your not in that group you'll not benefit from it.
Top. 500 or so at this point in the season is great.
This is my first season playing properly / using these sites / etc.
Enjoying it - and hoping baines comes good for me.
If not, I can easily trade him down and up Eriksen or someone...Open Controls
500th is 1438
Open ControlsThanks TM.
Only 4 pts?!
Ok. I should be able to get a 4 point advantage over the field given who I still have to play.
Great!Open Controls
This was supposed to be the week I close the gap on my ML leader.
Next thing I know Cabaye and Yaya have scored him a combined 28 points. How do I win.Open ControlsI think this has been a year where we have to jump on bandwagons as quickly as they form, no matter what their reputation is. I can tell you this first hand as a non Yaya owner, too stubborn to catch the Toure train until is was way too far away. Another example is Ramsey; the quicker you got on the better as well as Coleman.
On an unrelated note... Goodbye Mesut Özil, Hello Adam Johnson
PS. Yes I am aware this transfer will blow up in my face but feel free to remind me belowOpen Controlsi think its a good move, never liked ozil, got him in after wally went out.....terrible
