Fantasy football scout daily hot topic
Playing the market
This is a crucial week for wildcarding. With the next premier league games more than a week away there's plenty of scope for double, even triple points risers and the chance to play the market.
For savvy managers this can mean a significant to team value as they catch the double risers then sell on.
How are your financial skills when wildcarding? What advice would you offer? And which players look ripe for investment then dumping this week?
Or when you wildcard do you just stick to getting the players you want and ignore prise rises?Open ControlsIf you wanted to play the market this week it should have been done yesterday, players like Wilshire, Aguero and co have already gone up .1. Also like Mark said this January wildcard can't have come at a worse time. The team looks good and even if I wanted to play the market, I only have about 2 players, a defender and midfielder to use to make more money and my actual targets like Ajohnson are going up in value as well, its just wrong timing really.
Open ControlsAnd that's why I would like to see the January Wildcard abolished (or the Main and January Wildcards replaced by First Half-season and Second Half-season Wildcards).
Open Controls
Main team made up on the last day. Price change chasing until then.
Open ControlsThat's what I'd say too. I did that for my wildcard last week, but there were not that many risers. Going to be plenty of double risers ahead of the next game week.
Open Controls
Of course play the market. That extra 0.3m-0.5m from the double riser could be handy
Just make sure you don't transfer out the player you'd may like to keep that already rise in value (i.e. Silva, Kosc, Sturridge recently), to get the cash cows and then transfer them back. You'll actually lose value.
Other than the double rise also look for players that you have and only need 0.1m more to get the profit before transferring them out.
Mertesacker rose for me last night and I need that rise to get his extra 0.1m profit, now I can transfer him out for a cash cow. I'm also waiting for Mannone's rise before getting him out.
But cases like Sterling who has been at 90% and then now dropping, you can just get him out for a cash cow.
AJ, Wilshere, Cabaye, Sturridge, Aguero will probably get a price rise.Open ControlsI've never noticed a longer period leading to more risers, it just takes the users away from the game safe in the knowledge there's nothing to do. Straight after and of course immediately before the next GW is where the main action is.
Imagine though if a large enough group collaborated on buying to orchestrate rises and then selling to take the profits. Can you think of such a large group huh......... 🙂Open ControlsNearly perfect timing Jonty!
I activated my WC last night as didn't want to end up paying too much for Aguero. The guys on at the time helped me out with the concept of playing the market. I've always just gotten the players I've wanted in the past.
Currently chasing AJ. Mert, Wilshere, Ki, and Aguero, and keeping only Aguero. Hopefully I get at least one double riser out of that lot.Open ControlsI am not sure that this long GW will produce any more double risers than the next short GW.
Most transfer activity is concentrated at the start and end of the GW.
This week you don't really get the "end" of the GW rises because most people will do their transfers on the Tuesday but you will have to finalise your team before Tuesday night.
Next GW you will have all the Tuesday activity, the post matches (Kneejerk) activity as well as the pre-deadline Friday night.Open ControlsDont you think most casuals think this is their last chance to wildcard so there will be more activity this next week?
Open ControlsNever thought of that. Would these casuals even know they had this extra WC? There may be some effect of that I guess.
Open Controls
I think the playing a market and catching price rises are an urban myth, every time I've had had ago I've hardly made anything. When people say they have made a lot I think they include those players they were never going to sell and to me that doesn't count. I'll be interesting to see how much is made this week.
Open Controls0.5 max if you sell all the double risers which, as you say, doesn't happen.
Open ControlsI'll be surprised if there are five double risers and one will be aguero, we will see I'm going to keep a track as I can't imagine there is ever a better time ten days without games, deadline not too far away from transfer window and a large amount of wildcarders
Open ControlsAguero, Cabaye, Sturridge I reckon. That'll be about it. There may be a couple more but as MJ says they will probably rise at the last minute on Tuesday and so you won't be able to sell and bank the 0.1 unless you keep them until after deadline. The real benefit to WCing in this gameweek fund-wise is getting in the players before they rise 0.1 and therefore saving funds, rather than the 0.1 gained from double-risers. You should still do well out of that.
Open Controls
I think there are very few double risers in January that you won't want to keep afterwards, or that you don't have already, or that you wouldn't lose money on by selling other players that you want to keep.
It's different with an early Main Wildcard, when you may want to make a large number of changes to your squad and most of the players to be replaced have not risen much yet.Open Controls...or that are alternative candidates for the same position in your squad.
Open Controls
Too early.
Open Controls
I have WC already and yet this week 10 of my team have negative NTI.
Such a fickle game lol.Open ControlsAustralia doing it easy.
Open ControlsJust watching a re-run of the Arsenal game. Sidwell nearly scoring again..He's getting hard to ignore as a fifth mid...One more goal and he will be on page one of the points table..!!..only 5.6 % ownership.
Open ControlsYou'll end up benching him when he does well.
Rather someone cheaper.Open ControlsBtw thanks for your west ham stats during the week. Instrumental in me getting Cabaye in over Lallana.
Open Controlsit was also hard to ignore the apparent difference in form between Ozil and Cazorla - I put them into the comparison tool too,, over the last 4 weeks there's no competition
Open ControlsI was a bit naffed off yesterday because he was the other one screaming out to be picked but I was already on -8 because I raged Ozil out...He's been begging me to pick him for three weeks now....

Got another FT.
Is it worth doing Ozil > Cabaye tonight as well?Open ControlsAnybody starting to think about Benteke?
Open ControlsReplacement for Giroud for me probably.. I don´t know why I even bother buying Giroud, never does anything for me.
Open Controls
Very much so. Absolutely bossed us yesterday.
Quite happy with SAS for the moment though.Open Controlsthinking that unless he finds the form he will be benched for the world cup

I have silva and Aguero. Would you do oil to yaya or cabaye?
