The weekendโ€™s FA Cup ties afforded Fantasy managers a little more clarity as we look to plan ahead for the run-in. Thereโ€™s still much to consider, though. The Gameweek 29 FA Cup Quarter Finals, the knock-on effect of the Capital One Cup Final the previous week and, of course, those midweek matches called off due to adverse weather conditions all need to be factored in:

With just one match left of the FA Cup Fifth Round, we reassess the lay of the Fantasy land, beginning with Gameweek 29.

Safe from Postponement

Cardiff v Fulham
Chelsea v Tottenham
Crystal Palace v Southampton
Norwich v Stoke
West Brom v Man United

Currently Postponed from Gameweek 29

Newcastle v Everton
The Toffees 3-1 win over Swansea yesterday earned them a spot in the last eight. At present, then, their trip to St Jamesโ€™ Park, which was initially scheduled for Sunday March 8 at 4pm, will need to be moved to a new date as they will face Arsenal in the Quarter-Finals of the FA Cup instead that weekend. With neither Newcastle or Everton facing European duties, this fixture could yet be moved to the following Tuesday or Wednesday, thus preserving it within Gameweek 29.

Liverpool v Sunderland
Liverpool may no longer be involved in the domestic cups but the Black Cats’ weekend win over Southampton means this one requires a new date. Initially set to take place on Monday March 10 at 8pm, it may be shifted to the Tuesday or Wednesday, given that neither club has European duties โ€“ if not, though, this will means Sunderland face back-to-back blanks, bearing in mind that they also had no league game the previous week due to Capital One Cup Final duties.

TV scheduling may play a significant part in deciding when these matches will take place, though. Both games were due to be broadcast live and could well be shifted to dates which still allow the cameras to capture the action โ€“ if that is the case, thereโ€™s likelihood they will be moved to another Gameweek.

Postponed from Gameweek 29

Arsenal v Swansea
The Gunners now face Everton in the FA Cup on Saturday March 8, meaning their home clash with Swansea, scheduled for the same day, needs to be moved to a new date. Considering Arsene Wengerโ€™s side then face a Champions League trip to Bayern Munich just three days later, their game against the Swans cannot take place in Gameweek 29.

Man City v Aston Villa
In a similar situation to Arsenal, Cityโ€™s home game against Villa, initially set to take place on Saturday March 8, has now been postponed due to their progress in the FA Cup. Manuel Pellegriniโ€™s men then face a trip to the Nou Camp the following Wednesday to take on Barcelona and, as a result, their game against Paul Lambertโ€™s side will need to be moved to an alternative Gameweek.

Still to Be Affected

West Ham v Hull
The Tigers travel to Brighton in the final match of the Fifth Round this evening. A win for Steve Bruceโ€™s side puts their Gameweek 29 trip to Upton Park at risk, though unlike the above-mentioned Liverpool and Everton matches, this fixture was not due to take place under the TV cameras and was initially pencilled in for 3pm on Saturday March 8. Obviously, if Hull triumph tonight this match will need rescheduling but perhaps stands a better chance of remaining within Gameweek 29.

Other Matches Yet to Be Rescheduled

Man City v Sunderland
Everton v Crystal Palace

Both matches were called off last Wednesday due to the adverse weather conditions and have yet to be given a new date, though Everton revealed via twitter last week they expect to make an announcement early this week.

Sunderland v West Brom
Postponed due to the Black Catsโ€™ Capital One Cup Final clash with City in Gameweek 28, this has yet to be given a new date.

In Conclusion

Weekend defeats to Cardiff, Chelsea and Southampton mean we definitely have at least five fixtures set to go ahead in Gameweek 29 now.

A loss for Hull at Brighton this evening would make that six, though, as suggested, even if they win tonight, their trip to Upton Park may still be retained within the confines of the Gameweek.

TV scheduling could be the main factor in deciding new dates for Newcastleโ€™s clash with Everton and Liverpoolโ€™s game against Sunderland.

Arsenalโ€™s game with Swansea and Cityโ€™s showdown with Villa are definitely unable to take place in Gameweek 29.

Furthermore, City are also without a Gameweek 28 fixture on their agenda due to Capital One Cup Final commitments, meaning they have back-to-back blanks. On the positive side, Manuel Pellegriniโ€™s men are set for three double Gameweeks from Gameweek 30 onwards โ€“ currently, double Gameweek 31 (FUL, mun) is the only one definitely confirmed.

Sunderland are also without a Gameweek 28 fixture due to the Capital One Cup Final. If their trip to Anfield cannot be moved within the same Gameweek, they will also be set for back-to-back blanks and will have three double Gameweeks still to factor in โ€“ so far, none have been confirmed.

If Evertonโ€™s clash with Newcastle needs to be shifted to another Gameweek, they will have two doubles from Gameweek 30 onwards due to the postponement of their game against Palace last Wednesday.

Currently then, only eight clubs โ€“ Cardiff, Fulham, Chelsea, Tottenham, Palace, Southampton, Norwich and Stoke โ€“ definitely have matches over both Gameweek 28 and 29. For those planning out transfers, Tony Pulisโ€™ side are the only one of those teams with a (yet to be scheduled) double Gameweek to follow.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

So far I have 5 players for GW29. As I've said before, I think I'll just write it off and think about GW30 and beyond.
However I was looking to dump Mata and that makes it 4. ๐Ÿ˜€

I honestly don't think GW29 will turn out that bad. You have at 3 or 4 FTs to use by then if you so wish, and games are bound to get rearranged into the week which should add a couple to most people's numbers. I'm currently on 6. Brighton win tonight will make it 9, with plenty of free transfers to make XI, before any rearrangement news.

I can't imagine I'm alone in not being remotely excited by any of the prospects for players I don't already own who will play both the blanks.

I'll do Tekkers > Ade this week (which I would have done anyway) and maybe bring in MOlsson next week but I just don't see a huge amount of value in spending transfers for just those weeks.

I'll be saving a transfer to prioritise the DGWs afterwards for which there are players I actually want to own. I don't see me losing much ground by not having a full GW29 squad. Happy to tread water and then make some leaps after that.

Yeah, though he'll make way for Aguero soon enough.

And getting him isn't really anything to do with GW29; I don't see more than two points for him that week anyway (Chelsea away).

I'm actually quite well set at the moment... In theory I have Noone, Hazard, Azpi, Erik, Ade, Ward, Yoshi and Mata for GW29. If Hull lose tonight I get a goalie.

GW28 I'm missing AJ, Mannone and Mata.

I have two frees this week and nothing that appealing to spend them on. My best bets so far are Zaha, Puncheon or Snodgrass.

So yeah, really not very excited at the prospect!

There was a lot of doom and panic flying round the place last week about how devastating GW29 will be if you don't plan for it, but who's going to be doing the damage for my rivals? Snodgrass? Crouch? Two pointers for every player who plays (possibly exaggerating here ... ๐Ÿ˜€ ). But generally, everyone will have a crap week and then we'll be into some wild DGW territory.

my advice for what it is worth (nothing usually)

hit city ain't worth it GW29
the normal logic of 'you ain't got a player so it is only really -2' as well as being not really true to start with is even less logical this week.
The only real time you should be considering a hit is if there is a really high chance of the players hitting 7/8 plus points and/or it is someone who is worth having long term and the hit might pay for itself. Such as Saurez against grantham under 11 side.
Otherwise why risk it if you are really just chasing your hit back.
by the time wk29 comes around most people will have the 2/3 chelsea, adebayor, RVP type players that you really want so you will be scrambling around the bottom feeders to make up 11.
someone obviously will get points from these teams, but predicting the exact player and geting a decent return isn't really worth being stuck with them till your DGW time.
Unless you are lucky or having TM run of points, most weeks we all have 2 or 3 players who score 1 point or less, and most of the time these come from your cannon fodder, (unless you have kolarov)
so having 2 or 3 empty spaces isn't going to be so different.
yes there will be some managers who still get crazy high score wk29, but let's face it, it ain't gonna be me or you anyway

I might lose Yaya and lolarov as I lose no value and have 2 FTs this week. But won't go hunting more than that. So with luck I'll get 7 for GW29 and have loads for the DGWs without too many hits.

My season went to the dogs some time ago so this is just time to see the what ifs, for future reference.

Sounds good Flynn but who will you get for Yaya? I have Silva and would drop him temporarily if I had a decent target. Only Mata appeals as a player and he has a blank GW28 so it's a bit pointless.

I'm sorry but to say a club with the strength in depth of Man City is that reliant on one person is ridiculous.

Dzeko, Jovetic and Negredo have all excelled at this level in the past.

Aguero is a loss to city but by no means can you write them off over two legs just because of one absentee for one game..

When have Dzeko, Jovetic and Negredo excelled in the knock out phase of the champions league?

City need their best players to beat Barca. Or for Barca to have an off day.

That said I think it will be close but Barca to qualify (just)

Barca aren't the same team as they were 3 years ago. They're worse.

City aren't the same team they were 3 years ago. They're better.

I don't mean the champions league level specifically, I mean against top quality opposition.
Negredo consistently performed in la liga, jovetic performed in serie a, and dzeko performed in the bundesliga. All three are proven goalscorers capable of scoring against a Barca defence that, in reality, is not that daunting.

I'd be more worried about Barca's penetration rather than City not being able to break them down.

Normally ppl load up on DGWers using FTs & clean up their squad with a WC. This time we hv a lot of fixtures that need to be rescheduled. Ideally WC shud be used around a DGW that has the most top teams like City, Liverpool, Everton etc. So think of using the WC, when we know the rearranged fixtures for Pool, City, Everton etc.

But then it's Cardiff followed by a stream of hard fixtures - che, ARS, SOT, liv - so is it even worth it?

I don't see Norwich keeping Spurs out to be honest, not in the form they're in.

Those with WC still to be activated have a strong advantage. You can alter your squad to suit GW 28 and 29 and yet have a terrific squad for the DGWs. That is, if you plan properly.
    Good luck WC holders.

    Courtois - DDG
    Maxwell - Rafinha - Danilo - Uchida - Manolas
Oscar - Ramiers - Raul Garcia - Thiago Motta - Rolfes
    Ronaldo - Lewandowski/Messi - Ibrahimovic

    Where's the obvious mistakes?

Ramires needs to go and Danilo is a Porto player? Wouldn't invest that much in DDG either personally but that's just personal choice.

Personally I'd downgrade DDG and upgrade Ramires + Danilo.

Nasri may be a good pick if you see that he's starting. I'd do DDG to a 3.0 GK to be honest as I don't see any point spending 4.5 on Zenit/Leverkusen when I don't think they'll get a cleanie. That allows you to upgrade Ramires quite significantly, maybe to Di Maria or something like that?

I'd do Danila > Azpilicueta though definitely.

Beavis is right. There will not be many poorer teams clean sheets so go with Courtois and either Lopez of RM or Aranzubia of Atletico.

non reply fail , or whatever the phrase is for trying to post but replying.

looks like it is going to be bottom of page anyway

my advice for what it is worth (nothing usually)

hit city ain't worth it GW29
the normal logic of 'you ain't got a player so it is only really -2' as well as being not really true to start with is even less logical this week.

Interesting -- another consideration is the quality of the fixtures, both for gw29 and the DGWs, especially for defenders. A 1 pter hardly seems worth it for either.

I personally think Ade will slow down with the fixtures he's going to be playing, if you think Ade can continue to flourish against harder opposition, then go for it.

But that's a big IF in my opinion.

Adebayor has Norwich and Cardiff next two and a game 29 chances are he will be out the door in 30/31 for anyone who has him?

Lambert away to tight West Ham Palace and home to Liverpool in the next three its debatable to say he has the fixtures.

          Spurs next 4:

          nor - CAR - che - ARS

          Saints next 4:

          whm - LIV - pal - NOR

I see Ade doing well against CAR but not in any other fixture.
I see Lambert doing well against pal and NOR and possibly against a shaky LIV.

Plus Lambert is cheaper and trying to impress towards the end of the season to get to his last chance of a world cup and Lambert has less ownership.

I just think Ade's best is behind him and people transferring him in now are missing out on the points and price rises that people have already enjoyed.

If you HAVE Ade, then keep, but I wouldn't get him in.

Exactly its your opinion bar the haul vs Cardiff Lambert hasn't done much in weeks.

Adebayor beats him on points per game and form they are facts theres no opinion in that.

You think Adebayor will struggle vs Norwich despite scoring three away from home braces since Sherwood put him back in the side.

Each to their own your championing Lambert, Adebayor has matched him on goals playing half a season.

I think Carroll has a massive impact on Nolan and he's back in a week or two so that could spell a good end to the season for Nolan.

Snoddy is going to be involved in most of Norwich's attacking returns, but then again, its Norwich..

Personally, neither at the moment but Nolan > Snoddy.

Thank you, ๐Ÿ™‚ was actually eyeing up that one myself but it kills me to buy lallana at this stage after he's gone up so much i price ๐Ÿ™ i supose he's still decent value if he continues to do the business

Dropped last GW. I would personally do R.Bennet or Fabio > M.Olsson or Ward and save FT

is there a minimum number of day (s) in advance that a fixture can be arranged for supporters media etc?

is it 3 weeks or something?
