With a blustering Gameweek 26 all buttoned up, we check out the stats that matter in the Sky game using the usual info, including the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 28 (GW27 was blank).

Gameweek 26 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

Fixture MoTM
Liverpool vs Arsenal Raheem Sterling
Aston Villa vs West Ham Kevin Nolan
Chelsea vs Newcastle Eden Hazard
Crystal Palace vs West Brom Tom Ince
Norwich vs Man City Nathan Redmond
Southampton vs Stoke Charlie Adam
Sunderland vs Hull Nikica Jelavic
Swansea vs Cardiff Wayne Routledge
Tottenham vs Everton Emmanuel Adebayor
Man United vs Fulham Steve Sidwell
Cardiff vs Aston Villa Ben Turner
Hull vs Southampton Adam Lallana
West Ham vs Norwich Mohamed Diame
West Brom vs Chelsea Saido Berahino
Arsenal vs Man United Wojciech Szczesny
Newcastle vs Tottenham Emmanuel Adebayor
Stoke vs Swansea Ryan Shawcross
Fulham vs Liverpool Steven Gerrard

Midfielders claimed 11 of a possible 18 awards with one goalkeeper, two defenders and four forwards picking up the scraps, a special mention to Emmanuel Adebayor who was the only player to pick up the award twice and has now managed to claim the award in four of his ten games so far – at only 7.6 million, he looks great value. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is still out in front with a total of nine awards, three ahead of Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Curtis Davies.

Gameweek 26 Bonus Points

Twelve goalkeepers managed five saves or more this week – Maarten Stekelenburg was the top keeper with a total of eleven saves over the two games. Vito Mannone again picked up bonus points and is sat at the top of the bonus rankings with 16 additional points to his name.

In defence, a total of 15 players gathered bonus, nine for tackles and seven for passes completed – full-back Angel Rangel was the player to achieve both and now joins team mate Chico and Crystal Palace full-back Joel Ward on 20 extra points.

In midfield, 29 players earned bonus points – 16 for tackling and 19 for passes. Four midfielders managed to pick up bonus in both games, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin managed tackling once and passing twice to earn himself an additional six points, putting him level with Yaya Toure and Cheik Tiote on 32 additional points overall.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

Name Team Value % of Managers
Terry Chelsea 7 7.09%
Ramsey Arsenal 5.8 4.69%
Henderson Liverpool 6 3.60%
Negredo Man City 8.6 3.45%
Lovren Southampton 5.2 3.21%

Aaron Ramsey and Dejan Lovren remain on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, whilst John Terry, Jordan Henderson and Alvaro Negredo look set to feature this weekend. Negredo’s ownership has been ‘yo-yoing’ back and forth over the last few weeks, but with the imminent return of team mate Sergio Aguero, his ownership will probably continue to drop as Fantasy managers scramble to acquire the Argentinian’s services.

Top Transfers In

Name Team Value % of Managers
Sturridge Liverpool 9.2 6.29%
Fonte Southampton 5.1 4.93%
Adebayor Tottenham 7.6 4.84%
Lallana Southampton 5.9 4.66%
Hazard Chelsea 8.8 4.23%

Daniel Sturridge’s relentless form sees him top the transfers in and he looks a good acquisition ahead of a home clash with Swansea this weekend. Likewise, Emmanuel Adebayor has been a revelation under new boss Tim Sherwood and looks a good bet for points away to Norwich. Jose Fonte, Adam Lallana and Eden Hazard regularly feature in the most transferred in as their ownership continues to rise.

Gameweek 28 Proposed Captain Strategy

Looking ahead to the captaincy choices for Gameweek 28, we will have to settle for just two captains as there is no Monday night game this week.

Our Strategy:
Yaya Toure (Stoke at Home) → Luis Suarez (Swansea at Home)

For the fixtures on Saturday 22nd, we have opted for the security of Yaya Toure – Man City have been devastating at home this season and, with direct free-kicks and penalties in his locker alongside the high chance of passing bonus, he looks a safe bet. Other alternatives include Robin van Persie and Santi Cazorla.

For Sunday the 23rd, a switch to Luis Suarez looks a no-brainer as they host the Swans at Anfield. Of course, Daniel Sturridge offers an alternative option if you’re looking for a differential.

As an added bonus Suarez & Sturridge play on Saturday March 1st away to Southampton in Gameweek 29.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Our own Fantasy Football Scout League is on top of the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch Fenners and Merse at 18:30 on Sky Sports One HD where they will be discussing the previous week’s Fantasy Football events, quizzing former Spurs defender Justin Edinburgh and asking him for his #One2Eleven.

    Adrian
    Kosc, Azpi, Evans*
    Haz, Silva, Mata, Sterling
    RVP, Suarez (C), Dzeko

    Subs: Yoshida, JWP, McShane

2 FT, 2.2 banked so going to do McShane > Olsson for future GWs.

If Yaya Sanogo ends up being a beast, then falls out with the dressing room and goes on a nomadic career being useless and occasionally scoring a screamer, then tries to injure one of our best players when he meets up with us years later, I think we might as well sell him to Spurs right now.

Have Hazard, double up with Oscar for ERIKSEN for free this week?
At least Chelsea guaranteed fixtures and can swap him with silva or Nasri for the doubles.

    Also have mata, Lallana, Noone

I have the same midfield except Mata, Sterling for me.
I thought about the same transfer but currently leaning toward saving at least for this GW, if Eriksen doesn't start I will do it.

Ok thanks, think I'll save. Gerrard could also been an option, but possible blank..

Why Bruce? I just noticed that he actually played the full 90 last week. For 3.9m is he necessary to go?

IF you have some cash you could look at the keeper situation...otherwise look to ship a Man C or Pool guy ahead of GW29

I sold JT for Coleman so I didn't waste a 2nd free transfer last week. This of course meant the transfer was wasted, as Everton cancelled their game!! Now JT is fit and Coleman has a shite game at Stamford Bridge. Wonder if maybe this is a gift of sorts... could I sell Coleman for Ivanovic...?
