Gameweek 27 concludes with three matches that address both title ambitions and relegation concerns.

Liverpool’s credentials as title challengers will come under the spotlight as they clash with Swansea at Anfield. The visitors come into the game potentially leg weary after their fine performance against Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday. In contrast, Brendan Rodgers side will be fresh and looking build on their last two home appearances which has seen them claim nine goals against the Everton and Arsenal defences.

Elsewhere, Newcastle will be looking to stem the tide of three straight defeats without a goal as they face up to Villa at St James’ Park. Paul Lambert’s side will be seeking to come away from the North East with at least a point to consolidate their position outside of the relegation places.

Events then conclude at Carrow Road, with Norwich battling to keep themselves out of the bottom three and hoping to get a result against a Totteham outfit that struck four goals on their last away trip at Newcastle.

Look to our Twitter feed for all the lineup news, while our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open for those looking to partake in some real-time banter.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyone any idea who will get the 3Bp's in the Liverpool game, I've already looked at the detailed stats and it is on Sturridge, but is there a chance it will change to Henderson because of the winning goal? My H2H depends on it..............

What does Sturridge have to do to be in the scout picks?

    Last 6 weeks:

    Sturridge 66-32 Suarez.

And don't feed me any 'We'd all pick Suarez' BS lines.

Colonel..Just saw you also captained Suarez. Your rank is similar to mine and need to gain ground to break top 10k. Wandering what your reasoning was to C Suarez? as i also went Suarez, but for both of us seems we will need to C other than Suarez to make ground.
Going forward will you try to C other than Suarez?

It contradicts your whole argument that Sturridge should be picked over Suarez. Your captaincy decision shows that you shared the scouts view that Suarez would outscore Sturridge this week.

If the ML leader was picking Suarez and you are chasing his lead, why shouldn't you pick Sturridge? Isn't that exActly what you should do, since you are chasing I mean. If you were leading it would be different and then it wouldn't make sense to go for a more "risky" captain, but when behind I thought that would be the smartest thing to do...

It does demonstrate a lack of thought/originality.

Sturridge has been picked only twice this season, in gameweeks 5 and 8. Other than that, Suarez has been picked 19 times, which is every single gameweek he was available for apart from GW16.

So it's not even an issue of not wanting to double up.

Suarez consistently outscores Sturridge in the captains poll so it's a popular decision. Not that it effects the picks but it shows the general consensus.

But as you say, the scout picks aren't supposed to be a popularity contest. The whole point is to flag options that people might not have thought of, so if anything it should be contrarian to the general consensus.

True but you can't argue people aren't thinking of Sturridge. You couldn't advise people to get Sturridge if you thiught a fwd from the same team will score more.

Unsurprisingly, it's a discussion we have every week. We've backed Sturridge over Suarez in the Watchlist for a while (with price being a key factor) but when the Scout Picks come around (where price is less of a factor) we've stuck with Suarez for fear that he'd break out of this dry spell and start hitting double figures. While Suarez's role has appeared to change, if you do a comparison of stats over the last six matches, statistically, Suarez is still performing at a rate that would suggest he'll offer strong returns. However, Sturridge has just been deadly.

The easy way out is, of course, to select both in the picks but then I've always been against doubling up in a position in the picks because it goes against one of the principles of the picks we've had since the very start. I like to offer options rather than let two or three teams dominate the XI.

In the case of Sturridge and Suarez in the current situation, I think we'll have to change this from this point on. I'm pretty sure we'll go Sturridge at Southampton but, for Anfield matches, there's an overwhelmingly case to go with both simply because the options available elsewhere are just not strong enough, right now. That might change when Aguero returns, of course.

I think this is one of those situations where the stats just don't reflect the reality. Sturridge has been lethal, and while he's on form we might as well ride the crest of the wave. The wave will break at some point back in favour of Suarez, but until then I find the overwhelming choice of Suarez over Sturridge by such a large multiple a bit baffling.

We always say pick form over fixtures; well obviously the fixtures are the same, but the form part still holds true.

Fair points but I'd like to think that folk do check the Watchlist and read the articles that go with it - it's not like we've been playing down the Sturridge vs Suarez situation.

Discount Sturridge's form for a second - there's no doubt that the scenario has been compounded by the downturn in Suarez's output - he's gone from producing Ronaldo-like consistency to being completely overshadowed by a team-mate. Maybe there's a purely tactical reason for this, maybe it's just that the gilt edged opportunities are falling for Sturridge right now, maybe it's just Suarez is off form. Personally, I don't think it's the latter.

Like you say, the tide will turn, although there's no guarantee that Sturridge will dip when Suarez picks up, of course.

willian has been an excellent buy, Salah hasn't had a chance yet. Nowhere near the RVW flop!

Aspas, as he's flopped in a good team while Norwich are poor in general

I'd certainly put him up there!

Lamela is a frustrating one, you sense he'd have something to give.
Soldado has taken a few pens, but Defoe woulda done that job well enough.

i need to sell dzeko tonight (value dropping) and bring in someone who has a game in GW29. I'm looking at Jelavic.
will hull get to play within GW29 even if they win their FA cup replay?

or any others? already has adebayor.
Chelsea has no nailed on striker.
Norwich, cardiff, fulham strikers can't score.
    Choices are limited!
