With Gameweek 29 left in our wake we focus our attentions on the stats that matter in the Sky game including the usual info; the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 30.

Gameweek 29 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

FixtureMoTM
Everton vs West HamLeighton Baines
Fulham vs ChelseaAndre Schurrle
Hull vs NewcastleMoussa Sissoko
Stoke vs ArsenalJon Walters
Southampton vs LiverpoolLuis Suarez
Aston Villa vs NorwichChristian Benteke
Swansea vs Crystal PalaceYannick Bolasie
Tottenham vs CardiffMicheal Dawson

The MoTM awards were spread fairly evenly amongst the outfield players this week, with defenders picking up two awards and midfielders and forwards taking home three each. Luis Suarez ended his mini-drought at the weekend, earning him his seventh award of the season so far. He is now just two behind the overall leader Eden Hazard who sits on nine awards in total.

Gameweek 29 Bonus Points

Only one goalkeeper managed five saves or more this week – David Marshall was the man in question with a total of five saves to just edge the points. Vito Mannone is still sitting at the top of the bonus rankings with 18 additional points to his name.

In defence, a total of nine players gathered bonus, five for tackles and five for passes completed – stand in full-back Kyle Naughton was the only man to earn both. Angel Rangel and Chico are the top bonus point earners with 22 extra points so far.

In midfield, 12 players earned bonus points – five for tackling and seven for passes. Morgan Schneiderlin was the closest to earning both, falling just eight passes short of the required 60. Schneiderlin now joins Yaya Toure on 36 additional points.

One forward managed to earn tackling bonus – Johan Elmander was the player to successfully make four tackles as he tried to unsettle the Aston Villa backline.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
NegredoMan City8.68.25%
OscarChelsea7.63.18%
JagielkaEverton6.93.14%
ToureMan City8.63.09%
Van PersieMan United102.71%

Man City duo Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure find themselves shipped out by a combined 11.34%, probably due to Cities ‘blank’ fixtures in recent weeks, Oscar has suffered a dip in form which, in combination with bench duties, has led to a mini-exodus, Phil Jagielka has been suffering from an injury and also has a blank fixture this week and so 3.14% have looked elsewhere. Robin van Persie finds himself binned by 2.71% somewhat surprisingly as he’s one of the few big hitting forwards to feature this week, rumors of unrest and a lack of form look the most likely reason.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
AdebayorTottenham7.68.04%
SturridgeLiverpool9.25.65%
HazardChelsea8.83.64%
SterlingLiverpool4.83.50%
TerryChelsea72.86%

Emmanuel Adebayor was undoubtedly the top target this week as he was drafted in as a captain option for Sunday’s fixture vs Cardiff and again features this week. The remaining four players are split between Chelsea and Liverpool – although Liverpool have a blank fixture this week, their assets continue to rise in ownership due their impressive goal tally.

Gameweek 30 Proposed Captain Strategy

A first for Sky this week as a depleted number of fixtures taking place all on the Saturday means we find ourselves restricted to just one captain.

Our Strategy:
Eden Hazard (Tottenham at Home)

So, with only the fixtures on Saturday 8th to ponder, we opt for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard who is currently the second highest scoring midfielder overall, making this a reasonably safe choice – as an added bonus he also features in Gameweek 31 on the Saturday away to Aston Villa. If you fancy a different selection, one of Robin van Persie or Wayne Rooney could be an option as they face up to West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Our own Fantasy Football Scout League is on top of the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

Over-rated. Didn't have a shot last week and hasn't had a proper assist all season (only on fpl is it acknowledged). There's a reason why Coleman is sat way above in the rankings.

+1. Baines is at least spamming crosses and set-pieces, I'll take a couple of flakey assists and some baps anyday. Not to mention the odd direct FK and pen.

Aye..I'm wondering whether Del boy is a problem for Coleman. He's a great player but he plays so far forward it might be keeping Coleman pegged back to the defence..He's only had two touches in the box in three weeks..That's rubbish.

I see what you mean, but I'd rather Distin and an extra 2.2 which could be used towards Yaya or Aguero than flakey assist and occasional baps.

Yeah, I'm getting Aguero but risking no Yaya (for this DGW, can get him later in place of Mata). I don't think my opponent can afford Yaya so not too worried.

Same scenario for me but with other players..Rival can't afford Aguero or Studge because of very low TV...So I can happily have RVP this week and Aguero later on.

Same here. I can only just afford Aguero even.

It could come down to this for many I think:
                  Baines + Nolan/Lallana OR
                  Distin + Yaya.

                  I'd rather the latter.

His low ownership among active managers removes that worry a fair bit I think.
Distin + Coleman earlier in the season helped me to recover the woeful start we all had. I think we have to be ruthless and realise Baines was for last season.

Well that depends how you look at it, 11, 2, 2, 1, 0, 2 going backwards. Then two double figure hauls.
He's a decent pick don't get me wrong, but it's not a clear cut decision to go for him over Coleman, Distin or even Evra.

I'm still thinking keeping Kosh and going route b) is the way to go, toughts?

    a)
    gw29 Evra (wba)
    gw30 Cahill (asv)
gw31 Evra (whm, MCY), Bardsley (nor, liv), Hazard (ARS)
    gw32 Evra (ASV), Cahill (cpl)

    b)
    gw29 -
    gw30 Baines (CAR)
gw31 Baines (SWA, new), Koshielny (che, SWA) + Hazard (ARS) or Bardsley (nor, liv)

Please help, am I crazy to consider a non playing player to Lallana for -4 for this week and then swap Lallana to a DGW player either GW30 or GW31 for -4.

My justification is that I will swap the non playing player GW30 or GW31 for -4 regardless so its really only the -4 for this week and even then its only a -2 gamble as lallana should get 2 points with the potential for more

Gotta hold with this week the way it is. I actually have a sneaky suspicion our patience will be rewarded with an unlikely goal against Chelski. I'll be selling next week for AJ. Who would you get in?

It depends, bring in RVP & Vidic, so his replacement would be an enabler. Could be B Johnson, or one of the Cardiff boys if there is any definitive news on them. Alternative is to lose Mirallas for someone like Puncheon in the same transfer moves

Will be wildcarding tomorrow once the gameweek begins, couple of things left to decide:

    a) Zaba M Olsson Nolan Delph
    b) Zaba Distin AJ Livermore
    c) Baines M Olsson AJ Delph
    d) Zaba Distin Nolan Delph

Exclude Livermore/Delph's potential for gw31 from your thinking as they will be benched.
M Olsson would rotate with Chambers and Chester.

It's a nice relaxed atmosphere, maybe there's still a neutral section?
In a nice spot right by the Thames, it's a nice walk from the station through the park to get there. Some decent pubs nearby. Don't know about accommodation, probably pretty expensive tho

Yes there is still a neutral section.
Rather than walking through the park you could go to Hammersmith and visit a few of the pubs by the bridge. The ground is a 30 minute stroll along the river from there. Fortunately there is another pub (The Crabtree) about half way in case you get thirsty.

I don't know about hotels since i never stay over. i think there is a travelodge nearby which i guess will be the cheapest accommodation you will find in the area

I've been wondering about this move, with a view to swapping Terry back in week 32/33. Could be an excellent idea, but every time I take Terry out he gets a goal/cleanie and maximum bonus. I'd say it's worth of consideration if it's a) for free and b) doesn't screw your team up.
