With Gameweek 29 left in our wake we focus our attentions on the stats that matter in the Sky game including the usual info; the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 30.

Gameweek 29 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

Fixture MoTM
Everton vs West Ham Leighton Baines
Fulham vs Chelsea Andre Schurrle
Hull vs Newcastle Moussa Sissoko
Stoke vs Arsenal Jon Walters
Southampton vs Liverpool Luis Suarez
Aston Villa vs Norwich Christian Benteke
Swansea vs Crystal Palace Yannick Bolasie
Tottenham vs Cardiff Micheal Dawson

The MoTM awards were spread fairly evenly amongst the outfield players this week, with defenders picking up two awards and midfielders and forwards taking home three each. Luis Suarez ended his mini-drought at the weekend, earning him his seventh award of the season so far. He is now just two behind the overall leader Eden Hazard who sits on nine awards in total.

Gameweek 29 Bonus Points

Only one goalkeeper managed five saves or more this week – David Marshall was the man in question with a total of five saves to just edge the points. Vito Mannone is still sitting at the top of the bonus rankings with 18 additional points to his name.

In defence, a total of nine players gathered bonus, five for tackles and five for passes completed – stand in full-back Kyle Naughton was the only man to earn both. Angel Rangel and Chico are the top bonus point earners with 22 extra points so far.

In midfield, 12 players earned bonus points – five for tackling and seven for passes. Morgan Schneiderlin was the closest to earning both, falling just eight passes short of the required 60. Schneiderlin now joins Yaya Toure on 36 additional points.

One forward managed to earn tackling bonus – Johan Elmander was the player to successfully make four tackles as he tried to unsettle the Aston Villa backline.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

Name Team Value % of Managers
Negredo Man City 8.6 8.25%
Oscar Chelsea 7.6 3.18%
Jagielka Everton 6.9 3.14%
Toure Man City 8.6 3.09%
Van Persie Man United 10 2.71%

Man City duo Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure find themselves shipped out by a combined 11.34%, probably due to Cities ‘blank’ fixtures in recent weeks, Oscar has suffered a dip in form which, in combination with bench duties, has led to a mini-exodus, Phil Jagielka has been suffering from an injury and also has a blank fixture this week and so 3.14% have looked elsewhere. Robin van Persie finds himself binned by 2.71% somewhat surprisingly as he’s one of the few big hitting forwards to feature this week, rumors of unrest and a lack of form look the most likely reason.

Top Transfers In

Name Team Value % of Managers
Adebayor Tottenham 7.6 8.04%
Sturridge Liverpool 9.2 5.65%
Hazard Chelsea 8.8 3.64%
Sterling Liverpool 4.8 3.50%
Terry Chelsea 7 2.86%

Emmanuel Adebayor was undoubtedly the top target this week as he was drafted in as a captain option for Sunday’s fixture vs Cardiff and again features this week. The remaining four players are split between Chelsea and Liverpool – although Liverpool have a blank fixture this week, their assets continue to rise in ownership due their impressive goal tally.

Gameweek 30 Proposed Captain Strategy

A first for Sky this week as a depleted number of fixtures taking place all on the Saturday means we find ourselves restricted to just one captain.

Our Strategy:
Eden Hazard (Tottenham at Home)

So, with only the fixtures on Saturday 8th to ponder, we opt for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard who is currently the second highest scoring midfielder overall, making this a reasonably safe choice – as an added bonus he also features in Gameweek 31 on the Saturday away to Aston Villa. If you fancy a different selection, one of Robin van Persie or Wayne Rooney could be an option as they face up to West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Our own Fantasy Football Scout League is on top of the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

    I hate FPL

2 FTs and don't want to waste one but my only players with blanks I don't want to sell

    Adrian, Mannone, Yaya, Suarez

This leaves me taking out someone who plays for a DGWer and going in with 10 and no subs.

yes, but Adrian has a better double than Mannone, but Mannone has future doubles

Plus with only 0.3 banked I can only afford Marshall or Speroni and frankly I don't trust Cardiff's defence full stop, and I don't trust Palace's enough to double on them

Definitely dump one of the goalies for someone playing this week

IMO sell Adrian for Cardiff goalie

Adrian has rvp and Rooney coming to town during the double remember.

        Adrian, Mannone

        Azpi, Ward, MOlsson, Cahill, Shaw

        Hazard, Puncheon, Noone, Mata (Yaya)

        RvP (c), Ade (Suarez)

        Basically I've got 3 options

        a) make a keeper trade (likely to mean back to back -8s for DGW)
        b) swap a defender now and play with no keeper or subs
        c) let the trade go to waste (back to back -8s again)

Benching either Olsson or Azpi and would be benching again in GW31. MOlsson looks the most expendable given Norwich's start to the season. Next week they're away at Saints so I'd bench him for that as well. That leaves me with only GW33 v WBA where I might actually use him and by then I'll have Baines, Cahill, Ward and Demichelis, MOlsson won't be needed. Plus he's also a doubt.

truthfully I'm looking getting funds from elsewhere and ditching Shaw as I'll likely be swtiching to Cahill, Demichelis and Baines most weeks with Flanagan and Ward to cover. So that's a bit short term for me. I'd rather spend it on a keeper, or lose my last sub for a DGWer

Puncheon maybe worth keeping. No news from Palace. i do want to lose Noone, but only got 0.3 in the bank, so no options worth going for. Plan to lose him for Sterling when I've released some cash. MOlsson looks the best bet. a doubt this week and am unlikely to use him again after that

think I'll just get Flanagan, despite no game this week. 4.3 is incredible value for a Pool defender as long as Agger plays and I can cover next week. He won't get BAPs either, but there's a massive price differential compared to Azpi v next Chelsea option or Distin v next Everton option.

WILDCARD WEEK 30 VS WEEK 31

i decided to wildcard week 30 after the week 29 mess

if there any significant advantage NOT TO and wait for week 31?

i think wild carding week 30 would make sense as many of the double gameweekers for week 31 have good fixtures week 30 as well and plus u are ahead of the price rises

    thoughts please?

The only thing I can think of to make you want to wait is that you're running the risk of a player getting injured/dropped/sick etc in the week and a half running up to the DGW, but you'll get all of the price rises (not that that makes too much of a difference at this stage unless you have a very low TV)

      Almost certainly GW30 for me.

Ahead of the price rises, big issue for me as I've got low TV.
      City/Everton good fixtures in GW30.
WC would improve my team for GW30 compared to current team.

My only concern is these FA cup replays, anyone know if there's any chance DGW games will be cancelled with draws in the cup, or is this just people's guess-work?

but if you have WC 30 and then players get injured on matches in 30 then you can't do anything about it for 31 other than take hits or go without. If you WC 31 then any injured player you know about can be swapped

      Olsson

I would ideally suggest someone with a double coming up. But that means United. And their fixtures are bad and won't release funds

So 3 for Ollson, 2 for Chambers.

Olsson seems the safe pick, Chambers the risk. For a saving of 0.3 I'd rather fire and forget at that price point I guess.

    Final decisions:

    a) Zaba Distin, AJ Livermore
    b) Baines M Olsson, AJ Delph
    c) Zaba Distin, Nolan Delph

I don't see the 5th mid spot as that important so Livermore is a luxury really

    2ft this week

    Kos- Smalling
    Lallana - Mata

Means I will have enough money to do Ade to Aguero without taking a hit meaning I can field 7 this week and 10 in 31 leaving me with is

Obviously I think it should do the job but I wanted some 'expert' opinions.

Guys! Who is more important for the DGW 31?? Yaya or Aguero?

My "Yaya Team" looks a lot better than Aguero's....

Personally I reckon Yaya, means you can get Lakaku with S&S up front. Could be horribly wrong though!

      Yaya for me.
      Not injury prone
      More likely to play 90
      FKs
Pens when Aguero goes off at 60 and City seem to gets lots of pens

    For DGW 31
    A) Keep Hazard and get Sterling
    B) Remove for Gerrard and maybe AJ/Nolan/Nasri

      Richardson.

I'm gonna stick my neck out there and say he'll be top points scorer this week.

Is anyone considering Debuchy for the DGW?

Nailed on to start both games (both at home), reasonably priced at 5.0m, and his attacking stats are great - 2nd most shots and 2nd most shots on target of all defenders...
