With Gameweek 29 left in our wake we focus our attentions on the stats that matter in the Sky game including the usual info; the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 30.

Gameweek 29 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

Fixture MoTM
Everton vs West Ham Leighton Baines
Fulham vs Chelsea Andre Schurrle
Hull vs Newcastle Moussa Sissoko
Stoke vs Arsenal Jon Walters
Southampton vs Liverpool Luis Suarez
Aston Villa vs Norwich Christian Benteke
Swansea vs Crystal Palace Yannick Bolasie
Tottenham vs Cardiff Micheal Dawson

The MoTM awards were spread fairly evenly amongst the outfield players this week, with defenders picking up two awards and midfielders and forwards taking home three each. Luis Suarez ended his mini-drought at the weekend, earning him his seventh award of the season so far. He is now just two behind the overall leader Eden Hazard who sits on nine awards in total.

Gameweek 29 Bonus Points

Only one goalkeeper managed five saves or more this week – David Marshall was the man in question with a total of five saves to just edge the points. Vito Mannone is still sitting at the top of the bonus rankings with 18 additional points to his name.

In defence, a total of nine players gathered bonus, five for tackles and five for passes completed – stand in full-back Kyle Naughton was the only man to earn both. Angel Rangel and Chico are the top bonus point earners with 22 extra points so far.

In midfield, 12 players earned bonus points – five for tackling and seven for passes. Morgan Schneiderlin was the closest to earning both, falling just eight passes short of the required 60. Schneiderlin now joins Yaya Toure on 36 additional points.

One forward managed to earn tackling bonus – Johan Elmander was the player to successfully make four tackles as he tried to unsettle the Aston Villa backline.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

Name Team Value % of Managers
Negredo Man City 8.6 8.25%
Oscar Chelsea 7.6 3.18%
Jagielka Everton 6.9 3.14%
Toure Man City 8.6 3.09%
Van Persie Man United 10 2.71%

Man City duo Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure find themselves shipped out by a combined 11.34%, probably due to Cities ‘blank’ fixtures in recent weeks, Oscar has suffered a dip in form which, in combination with bench duties, has led to a mini-exodus, Phil Jagielka has been suffering from an injury and also has a blank fixture this week and so 3.14% have looked elsewhere. Robin van Persie finds himself binned by 2.71% somewhat surprisingly as he’s one of the few big hitting forwards to feature this week, rumors of unrest and a lack of form look the most likely reason.

Top Transfers In

Name Team Value % of Managers
Adebayor Tottenham 7.6 8.04%
Sturridge Liverpool 9.2 5.65%
Hazard Chelsea 8.8 3.64%
Sterling Liverpool 4.8 3.50%
Terry Chelsea 7 2.86%

Emmanuel Adebayor was undoubtedly the top target this week as he was drafted in as a captain option for Sunday’s fixture vs Cardiff and again features this week. The remaining four players are split between Chelsea and Liverpool – although Liverpool have a blank fixture this week, their assets continue to rise in ownership due their impressive goal tally.

Gameweek 30 Proposed Captain Strategy

A first for Sky this week as a depleted number of fixtures taking place all on the Saturday means we find ourselves restricted to just one captain.

Our Strategy:
Eden Hazard (Tottenham at Home)

So, with only the fixtures on Saturday 8th to ponder, we opt for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard who is currently the second highest scoring midfielder overall, making this a reasonably safe choice – as an added bonus he also features in Gameweek 31 on the Saturday away to Aston Villa. If you fancy a different selection, one of Robin van Persie or Wayne Rooney could be an option as they face up to West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Our own Fantasy Football Scout League is on top of the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Fantasy Football Club

No news from Moyes, but he's reportedly out for another 3 weeks

On that basis I'd keep him as out for 3 weeks when referring to trolls probably means he'll start tomorrow

    DGW31 team sorted 😉

...or at least this is my favourite draft so far and it leaves me with exactly 0.0 in the bank.

    Mannone - Boruc
    Cahill - Ward - Molsson - Kolarov - Coleman
    Nolan - AJ - Yaya - Sterling - Hazard
    Su - Agu - Stu.

Leaves me with 10 DGWs + Cahill

    Am I missing anything?

I really don't know what to do about Lallana.

I've had him since he was 7.3 (7.7 selling value atm), and I'm going to ditch to get in a DGW player and to free up funds, but its a shame as he's in great form.. He's just at an awkward-in-between price at the moment, not a big hitter like Yaya/Haz but not a Nolan/AJ either.

Plus Southampton won't have that much to play for towards the end..

      Ah, but which soap opera?

Perhaps he meant Hollyoaks, in that the place has a youthful, fresh vibe about it since Pepe Mel tookover.

Alternatively he could've meant Eastenders in that it is all doom and gloom and he is surrounded by total w@nkers around The Hawthorns.

Finally he could've meant Eldorado, in that it is utter, utter shite and it will all soon be over.

            I'm really torn between 30 and 31.

Kinda wanna keep my SOT players for NOR, and concerned about injuries, suspensions etc in GW30 ruining the GW31 DGW team.

Which front 3 you looking at in your GW30 WC then? Remy and Lukaku must look even more tempting....

let me put it this way. I wouldn't be buying Mannone for them, but I wouldn't be selling him because of them either.

Yep, sure someone said City were unlikely to double in GW34, can't remember why tbh, maybe it was FA cup, in which case it could apply to Sunderland too.

I doubt Sunderland would have any fear at all about mun, and they played very well against City in the cup..

I put him in my UFPL team with this GW in mind 😆

This GW needs to die, like right now.

I can field 10 players this weekend, got a spare FT. Mirallas > Snodgrass/Ince worth it or should I save for GW30? Will WC in GW31.

I'd use the FT, but not impressed by Snoddy. I'd go Ince

    Cech

    Gabbidon Ivanovic Baines Coleman Sagna

    Hazard Lallana Nolan Sterling Mutch

    Adebayor Sturridge Suarez

    Please help!!!!

Onlye Hazard, Lallana, Ivanovic, Adebayor and Cech are playing for certain in the gameweek

    My thoughts>> Sagna-->Evra
    Gabbidon-->Martin
Nolan--> Steven Davis (not sure if he'll play)

    Guys, seriously need your advice

    Thanks.

    Mannone, Marshall

    Ward, Coleman, Azpilicueta, Chambers, *
    Gerrard, Nolan, Hazard, Yaya, Parker,
    Suarez, Aguero, *

    A. Evra & Lukaku - means 9 DW players GW31 and one extra player for future DW
    B. Olsson & Sturridge - means 3 pools

Selling Ozil for £42.5m seems like a decent bit of business now from our point of view with Jese coming through 😀
