I don't see what the problem was with Suarez. He miscontrolled the cross, it got away from him and Rafael handballed it. Not an assist.

I can afford both at the moment, I'm just not sure I should spend 4.7m on a Hull defender especially as I might need the extra money later on. Having previously owned Chester, I am slightly worried about his injury proneness and Alex Bruce could get the odd game. Davies on the other hand is nailed on and has quite good attacking potential however he is quite expensive for what he is. If you were in this situation, who would you go for and why?

Always go for the cheapest nailed on option unless it's a player you'll play every week (e.g. Coleman). Goals are too hard to predict so if it's a player you're benching 60% of the time you risk missing any extra points the additional investment may bring you.

I think you'll just have to pick a captain and stick from the start. Once a player has played any part in this gameweek you can't do anything else with him, I'm presuming this means you can't bring them off your bench even if you didn't start them in game 1.

That's how I've interpreted it. You can sub out your single gameweek players that play on Sat for single gameweek players that play on Sun but you'll have to leave your double gameweek players in from the start to get the double points.
