With Gameweek 31 safely navigated, we turn our attentions to stats that matter in the Sky game including the usual info; the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 32.

Gameweek 31 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

FixtureMoTM
Hull vs Man CityDavid Silva
Everton vs CardiffDavid Marshall
Fulham vs Newcastle>

Steve Sidwell
Southampton vs NorwichJames Ward-Prowse
Stoke vs West HamStephen Ireland
Sunderland vs Crystal PalaceDamien Delaney
Swansea vs West BromJames Morrison
Aston Villa vs Chelsea>

Fabian Delph
Man United vs LiverpoolSteven Gerrard
Tottenham vs ArsenalLaurent Koscielny

As is often the case, midfielders claimed the majority of awards with seven out of the ten fixtures, whilst defenders earned two and goalkeepers one. It was a weekend for differentials as reflected in the MoTM awards; Steven Gerrard (8.49%), Laurent Koscielny (5.65%) and David Silva (4.54%) ownership were the only players of note to have a reasonable effect on overall rankings.

Gameweek 31 Bonus Points

Four goalkeepers managed five saves or more this week – Adrian, Joe Hart, David Marshall and Vito Mannone were the men in form. Mannone and Marshall lead the way overall with 20 and 18 bonus points respectively.

In defence, a total of 14 players gathered bonus, 12 for four tackles or more and two for 60 completed passes – centre-back Sylvain Distin was the closet to earning both, missing out by 12 completed passes. Angel Rangel is now the top bonus point earner with 24 extra points so far.

In midfield, ten players earned bonus points – five for tackling and five for passes. Morgan Schneiderlin was the player closet to achieving both, falling just one tackle short of the required four – he is also now the top bonus point earner, with 38 additional points.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
OzilArsenal8.86.45%
DawsonTottenham6.25.76%
AdebayorTottenham7.65.67%
NegredoMan City8.65.06%
GabbidonCrystal Palace3.74.23%

The top three players for transfers out are all carrying injury concerns and have been shipped by over 5% of Fantasy managers. Alvaro Negredo and Danny Gabbidon have had limited first team opportunities in recent weeks and also find themselves in the top five.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
SturridgeLiverpool9.26.10%
SterlingLiverpool4.85.44%
GerrardLiverpool8.13.98%
HazardChelsea8.83.53%
ShawSouthampton5.33.52%

Liverpool dominate again this week with three of their attacking assets at the summit of the most wanted list ahead of an enticing couple of fixtures. Eden Hazard and Luke Shaw make up the remaining numbers as their strong form continues.

Gameweek 32 Proposed Captain Strategy

Looking ahead to the captaincy choices for Gameweek 32 we have a multitude of options available due to the double Gameweek. If you have a surplus of transfers you could even opt for four captains.

Our Strategy:
Luis Suarez (Cardiff Away) → Luis Suarez (Sunderland at Home)

It’s a tricky Gameweek to navigate the captain choices and this is mainly due to Liverpool’s appealing fixtures and the dates of the ties. As Liverpool do not play until Sunday in Gameweek 33, swapping the armband during this Gameweek will make it all the more difficult to finish with Luis Suarez as your captain in Wednesday’s home clash with Sunderland. Therefore we opt to forgo the lure of extra captains and instead recommend using the captaincy swap in a more tactical way, retaining it on Suarez from Saturday to Wednesday and then, when the Gameweek has ended, swapping to a player featuring on Saturday March 29 – of which one of Eden Hazard/Wayne Rooney look good options.

Of course if you have the transfers or prefer to go for the short term option of points in the bag and rectify later – going with a player from one of the Manchester clubs for their two games and then a captain switch to Luis Suarez would result in three captains for the week and could potentially be more profitable. At this point in the season, though, few will have the trades left for such a tactic.

Stuck with Ince as my 4th mid at the moment. Already taken -4 (RVP & Lallana > Sturridge & Yaya), but is it worth taking another hit to get a DGW mid? And if yes, who for 6.6mil?!

personally I'm not sold on AJ, at least not for this specific DGW but there's nothing else I can see worth shifting around to make room for Nolan UNLESS you want to go with 1 keep for the rest of the season and downgrade the other and then have room for Nolan..

doing that would also allow you to get in Ramsey when he's back from injury (if you so wanted) without having to use 2 FTs or take a hit

              fair enough! good luck!

only reason I'm opting against 2 keepers is that Mannone is still pulling big performances against bigger teams so I feel I can trust him, if anything to at least rack up save points

so would you guys just leave this as I currently have it set up? I have been toying with starting Ivanovic over Chester simply because there might be a small doubt that Chester starts both games (I think he will, but still that doubt)

    Mannone
    Baines (v) - Zaba - Chester
    Yaya - Nasri - Gerrard - Haz
    Suarez (c) - Lukaku - Sturridge

    bench: 1) Ivan 2) Ward 3) Noone

cheeky Baines vice for fun 😉

just that sliver of doubt because he did come back earlier than expected from his hamstring injury and it's two quick-fire matches..

that being said he played the full 90 the last two and in the FA Cup even though he got only 5 minutes 3 matches ago and 20 minutes 5 matches ago so if I had to bet on it I'd say he'll start both

Personally I would be inclined to swap out Nasri if you have a FT.
I feel there are a few better DGW options. Nolan, Sissoko? This might just be my bias speaking though. I'm not a big Nasri fan

I took a punt on Nasri (feeling even better about having done it when I heard Granville did too) because I think he could explode..he's playing regularly and at that price difference (between him and Silva) I think it's worth it as they're both equally likely to contribute as they are to blank..

now had I gone Coleman instead of Baines last week then it would be Silva in there but I'm not disappointed with my choice (at least not yet! haha)

Nasri has this special element of inefficiency though. He is sometimes frustrating to watch, he seems to always strive for perfection, and consequently often leaves his decisions too late or goes for an unnecessary further move, like one more dribble or pass when there's a good chance already. He creates outstanding goals, but too few of them. That's why I don't really like to have him if I can have Silva instead. It's a bit strange because I actually think that Nasri is the better player out of the two by his individual skills, it's just that Silva has a way to get the results more often. And then there's the enigmatic YaYa...

I don't think any of the people above me will even have two City mids for this GW so I don't think I could go wrong by taking a punt on Nasri..

anyhow I'm likely to drop him for Rambo once he's fit

depends on your purchase price, some hopped on late..

but if you got him for 10m or less then it's stupid to sell unless your TV is through the roof..

at 9.1m purchase price, he's in it to win it for the rest of the season

They both have Coleman/Lukaku who I hadn't planned on buying but am considering in case they blow it away over the coming few weeks, worth making these changes instead of my planned differential subs this week of Dummett & Dzecko??

Your close enough to the leader that you don't need to take any crazy chances. I think Coleman and Lukaku will far outscore Dummett and Dzeko for this gw and future gw. Obviously you will need to have your differential make up the 12 points (so depending on who they are, this advise could be irrelevant)

Which is better combo for next 2 GW?

A - Kolarov (FUL, mun, ars) + McCartney

B - Distin (SWA, new, ful) + Chester

Notice that I already have Coleman. Also, what is possibility Kola will play all 3 games?

    Thanks

    Crazy idea:

Colback + Lukaku -> Nolan + Deolofeu for a -8 hit ?? (will bench Hazard then)

... got a strong feeling Nolan will rack up the points in the DGW

    Mannone
    Mertesacker Coleman Ward (Baker)
    Hazard Lallana Sterling Snodgrass
    Lukaku Suarez JRodriguez

What to do for 31 GW?

If your overall position ain't very top, I would probably give up now.

In case you want to continue, get rid of Ward, Mertesacker, JRod and Snod, at least. Get in DGWrs.

I've got Boruc and have already taken a -4 thus far. Any goalkeepers around the 5.2 mark that could offer good DGW points and more long term?

    Thoughts?
