We delve into the data offered up by Saturday and Sunday’s 10 fixtures this evening. Newcastle’s weekend goal hero, Villa’s foraging frontman and Liverpool’s talismanic South American are all under analysis, while we also cast an eye over a trio of midfield playmakers plying their trade at United, Swansea and Tottenham:

Reminded me of the bit in Fergie's book, about the infamous friendly vs Sporting Lisbon that convinced United to buy Ronaldo

    Fergie: "get close to him!"

    O'Shea: "I can't Boss!"

John O'Shea missed training the next day with dizzy spells.

I remember the Madrid game last season. Fergie absolutely slaughtered Evra at half-time saying he should have challenged Ronaldo for that header. Evra protested that he did jump he just had no chance and Fergie scoffed at him

Then he watched a replay of the goal on the flight back, called in Evra into his office first thing to apologise to him

Bale scored 240+ points. Don't think Hazard wiil get that many. Hazard 11 m for me.

Yaya with all his set pieces could actually get there and get priced out of the game.

      Suarez should be 15m.

I genuinely don't think Yaya Toure will be in my squad next season. Aguero (should) have put his injuries behind him, and that takes penalties away from Yaya. I know he has been immense even without but at his age, this will be his peak I'd imagine.

      It's always unpredictable.

Last season was all about Van Persie, Mata, Michu, Walcott and Coutinho.

Not sure next season that all three of Suarez, Yaya and Hazard will live up to this season's form.

Every time I think about adding a cheap DGWer for 37 I look at Chelsea at home to Norwich and Liverpool away at Palace and think either of Cahill and Flanagan is just as good as Chester with 2 games or Januzaj/Delph/Hull mid. Could easily line up

    Mannone

    Rafael, Demichelis, Cahill, Flanagan

    Yaya, Hazard, Eriksen

    Suarez, Rooney, Aguero

6 DGWers plus guys like Hazard, Eriksen and Suarez who have nice single gameweek fixtures

Hey guys, anyone able to help me with a betting related query?

So last night I signed up to paddy power for their 4/1 offer on Ronaldo scoring first.
Whacked a fiver on and as you may well know he did not score first.

Checked my account today - I have £30 in my account (I deposited £10) and a £5 free bet. Any idea how or why I've managed this? Happy but very confused! On the transaction history bit it just says "free bet - credit £25 - balance £30"

It was 110% a red card offence! Saying it wasn't on target is a load of old tosh as at that speed they had no idea it was going wide. If it was Gibbs that handled it and Arsenal appealed they would have been told to do one. The only reason they have been let off is to try and calm the storm for sending off the wrong player. Swansea must be absolutely fuming.

Was only a bookable offence - deliberate handball doesn't attract a red card unless it stops a goal.

That's exactly what he thought he was doing though. If he thought it was going wide he wouldn't have even tried to get in the way.

A yellow card is the last thing it should have ever been - If the ref saw it then it was a straight red or if he didn't then zip.

Those aren't the rules though - the player's intention is irrelevant. You might not like the rule but you can't slate them for applying it.

I can when they've changed it on video evidence. If it was a normal occurrence and not mistaken identity they wouldn't even bother appealing it is so cut and dry.

Not sure how you're so certain of that when according to the rules the offence he committed was undeniably a yellow card - why would they not appeal?

How can it be a yellow card if it was thought to be stopping a goal? At the time the ref clearly thought it was going in hence why he sent him off. As it was just missing on replay this doesn't come into it. Was only scrutinised due to the obvious balls up with the wrong player getting the early bath.

Look at all of the other high profile cases of blatant handball preventing a goal - Suarez / Taylor - Both straight reds, no questions asked.

We'll just have to agree to disagree Greenwindmill!

very much so. Can not overstate Giggs' importance v Olympiakos. Not afraid of making mistake's or giving the ball away and it lifted the rest of the team. We need more of this. Not constant shouts of

Some of his holding the ball up is OK but you need more than that, he's not dangerous enough.

He wants to play and I for one don't blame him. Too many good players careers are destroyed by joining clubs they have little chance of being first choice for years, all for the greed of their agents.

Owned him last year (coincidentally my first year, and he did quite well when I had him)

Refused to have him this year, and it's hurt, but some principles cannot be let go, even if he is scoring 2 goals for every shot.

Evening. I know it's asinine but I made up my mind during their blanks to go without since I'd rather finish 400-500k without having gotten him rather than 100-150k with him for these last eight-ten weeks. He's not the reason I've done so poorly this year after having gotten heavily into this site last season (there is a long list of those) but I just don't see any point in owning him now since everyone in front of me probably does. Differentials are more fun even if they don't pay off very often.

In a bizarre way it's like I'm pot committed in tournament poker without a very good hand. I have less than a 10% chance of winning but folding right now and getting Yaya in seems like I wasted all those gameweeks/chips trying to win a big pot. If I were in a cash game/money league everything would be different.

Playing for a weaker team with less talent to create goal scoring chances, with selfish players (Mirallas), in a style of play he doesn't want (a target man) whilst injured, and not necessarily the focal point of attack.

Nothing wrong with scoring goals for a weaker team?

He should get better service at Chelsea, so will score even more goals than he does at Everton/WBA when he gets his chance.

No he wouldn't. For the last season or so, Chelsea's attack has been completely based around their midfielders.

Lukaku just wouldn't be mobile to fit in with Chelsea's pacey, counter-attacking football.

                He would be a flop.

absolute garbage! it's been based around midfielders because their strikers are complete dross! you've clearly never watched him... you just see him as a 'big lad' so say he isn't mobile or pacey - utter nonsense.

Totally. He might have had his moments at WBA last year, but I still didn't see the appeal tbh.

Will probably leave for a decent European club next year I reckon

+ he really doesn't suit the type of striker Mourinho prefers.

I think he could offer Arsenal what they want. Good hold up play and reasonable on the ball.

Him or Costa at arsenal could be Wengers next target.

              Lukaku at Arsenal - lol.

Just what they need, another shite forward. Putting him and Costa in the same sentence isn't just 😉

Really? I think they'd be better off with a Suarez/Aguero type of striker.

He just can't play the way Jose wants. Like Mata and KDB

Will be sad to see him not given a chance at Chelsea, I thought he would be the best striker in the world in a few years time. How wrong I was.

Nevermind... it's as a tribute to Hillsborough. 25 year anniversary. Was abandoned after 7 mins.

Every game will kick off 7 minutes late in tribute to those who lost their lives 25 years ago at Hillsborough.

Not that it matters, but Almeria (19th) are beating Sociadad, who still are chasing that Europa/champions league spot. Good for them.
