A second-minute booking in Liverpool’s 6-3 mauling of Cardiff last Saturday brings Steven Gerrard a step nearer an automatic two-match ban. Having received his ninth yellow of the campaign against the Bluebirds, the Reds’ skipper must now negotiate the next four league matches without incurring the referee’s wrath in order to avoid enforced time on the sidelines:

Incidentally, Gerrard’s weekend booking was his seventh of the calendar year alone – five arriving in the league and two in domestic cups – and coincides with his move to a more withdrawn role, suggesting he’s perhaps being drawn into making more tactical challenges as the last man in front of the back-four.

Gerrard is one of three midfielders sitting on nine bookings. Arsenal’s Mathieu Flamini needs to negotiate just three fixtures to avoid suspension – the reason being is that the Gunners’ rescheduled Gameweek 34 fixture with West Ham takes place on Tuesday April 15, two days after the deadline extension on Sunday April 13. Chelsea’s Ramires is also one yellow away from toppling off the Tightrope. The Brazilian is currently serving the second of a three-game suspension for violent conduct and will miss matches against Palace and Stoke – if he picks up a yellow upon his return in the Gameweek 34 clash against Swansea, he’ll face further sanction.

Twelve players are a couple of cards away from a ban, with Wayne Rooney and Pablo Zabaleta the most high-profile from a Fantasy perspective. Stoke are the most represented, with a trio of players (Geoff Cameron, Jon Walters and Marc Wilson) on eight yellows. A further 14 players are still under threat of potential suspension, sitting on seven cautions apiece.

Arsenal have successfully appealed the red card mistakenly handed out to Kieran Gibbs during Saturday’s loss at Chelsea. The FA transferred this to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but have subsequently rescinded his ban for wrongful dismissal, due to the fact that Eden Hazard’s initial shot was deemed to be off target before the midfielder handballed. Both players are now available for tomorrow’s clash with Swansea.

Sunderland’s Marcos Alonso sits out Wednesday’s trip to Anfield after his dismissal in Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Norwich. The left-back earned two yellows – the first for a foul late in the second half, the second for a handball in stoppage time.

Fulham’s Fernando Amorebieta is also sidelined for a single match. The Cottagers defender was sent packing after denying a goalscoring opportunity in Saturday’s 5-0 loss at the Etihad and will miss next weekend’s crucial home encounter against Everton.

Jon Walters, Jonas Olsson and George Boyd serve the last of their respective bans this upcoming weekend, whilst a trio of players will return to action in time for Gameweek 32. Charlie Adam and Willian will be joined by United skipper Nemanja Vidic, who completes a two-match batch against City in tomorrow evening’s Manchester derby.

Have 2FT and nothing really needs changing in my team. Noone is yellow flagged but I have bench options to carry him for at least 2 more weeks. The only other thing I see that I could do is Distin to someone up to 5.4. Is Distin to Shawcross worth it?

When using my WC last week, I was thinking about future DGW's, so I got 2 Hull players.

They have 2 games in GW37.

But now I am worried that they well be safe from relegation at that stage & may rest key players for their FA Cup final against Arsenal 🙁

Evening all! Just saw an ad for Blue Bloods - anyone remember Chicago Code?? Came out around the same time as Blue Bloods, far superior, lasted a half season and was cancelled. Essentially the equivalent of releasing The West Wing and House of Cards at the same time and cancelling the latter.........

That was inevitable once Suarez started the season in blistering form and Liverpool more or less secured top four.

But, Fernandinho was unproven in the PL which makes his signing even more commendable.

worth getting even though I have Noone? Will likely move Noone on in GW36, possibly for a Fulham mid given the fixtures

Hasn't Aguero pulled this before......the mid-season or so injury plight followed by a strong run-in? I wasn't originally going to entertain the option of picking him up, but I'm starting to lean towards doing so for GW34. Would be an ideal replacement for Rooney and his blank.

as ever with him this season, either way there is risk. Don't own him and you risk missing out on some major hauls. When both were fully fit and firing Aguero was keeping pace PPG wise with Suarez.

own him and you leave yourself open to yet another injury related transfer and team restructure.

I still think if he's fit v Saints I'll get him either for that or ready for the DGW

My advice as a 2 time owner, 2 time burned victim of Eriksen.

Avoid him. Don't be suckered into it like I was! Sherwood is an idiot and he probably won't get as many minutes as you desire.

You probably know Ki is the guy to lose, but not alot you can do really. Delph is rising tonight, might get another rise if keeps delivering. Your overall rank will be better if you make less transfers. I'm struggling here...

Team of the season so far(imo).

Aye, only one questionable with that is the 'keeper, IMO. I really rate De Gea, but as well as all the saves he has made a couple of blunders, too. Of course, so has Boruc...and I owned the guy at the time!!!! :(. Good call with De Gea, I think...

      Coleman, Mert/Lovren/Terry, Azpilacueata,
      Hazard, Toure, Gerrard/Ramsey, Lallana,
      Suarez, Rooney/Sturridge/Aguero.

Has to be given to Sturridge after that incredible run of form. Aguero been out for too long periods to get it, IMO. Lovren good call - he has been excellent for much of season, even though he does like his YC's 🙂

True, but if Ramsey and Aguero come back and play the final part of the season as they have done injury free! they could sneak it I think.

Although at The rate it is going, Sturridge deserves to be there.
