PlayON, the weekly Fantasy Football game, is running a mini-gameweek which consists of Tuesday and Wednesday evening’s five fixtures. As always, we scour the PlayON Price List for potential bargains ahead of this evening’s kick-offs:

PlayON is also launching a new Twitter feed today @PlayONLive – which provides a live feed of all team news, goals, assists and results for all Premier League matches. You can follow @PlayONLive here

If you’re new to PlayON, it is weekly Fantasy Football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season.

Once your starting XI is built you can compete for cash. You can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 52% win rate up to this point. You can also create an open challenge against anyone else on the site – just click the amount you want to play for and the number of slots (number of people who can accept your challenge) on the one-on-one page .

For a more in-depth introduction to PlayON, take a look at this season’s introduction article.

Goalkeeper – Simon Mignolet
The Liverpool number one will fancy his chances of picking up a third clean sheet in four attempts in tomorrow evening’s Anfield showdown with Sunderland. The Black Cats are toiling up top right now and have found the net once in their last four league matches, suggesting Mignolet, at 8.2m, could offer decent value. Wojciech Szczesny can be acquired for just 8.0m ahead of this evening’s home encounter with Swansea. Arsenal may be licking their wounds after Saturday’s mauling at Stamford Bridge but their home form is another matter altogether – the Gunners have conceded just once in their last six at the Emirates. Alternatively, Newcastle’s Tim Krul (8.5m) entertains an Everton side that have scored only one goal in their previous four road trips.

Defender – Thomas Vermaelen
With Laurent Koscielny sidelined due to a calf complaint, the Belgian looks set to partner Per Mertesacker in the heart of the Gunners defence. Having last started a league match back in late December, Vermaelen is a budget-friendly option in this week’s PlayON Player Price List and will set you back just 7.3m for the visit of Swansea. Everton’s Phil Jagielka has recovered from a hamstring injury and is expected to return to the starting line-up to face Newcastle. The Toffees skipper costs 8.4m and is up against a Magpies side that have scored a single goal in their last five league games without Loic Remy. Hull’s James Chester is priced at a reasonable 8.3m for the visit to West Ham, given that the Tigers have chalked up a clean sheet in each of their last two road trips.

Midfielder – Alex Oxlade Chamberlain
Prior to last weekend’s disastrous defeat at the hands of Chelsea, the Arsenal midfielder had scored or assisted in all three of his starts since returning from a knee injury. Cleared by the FA after a belated charge of wrongful dismissal was rescinded, the 8.8m-priced Oxlade-Chamberlain will be looking to help the Gunners bounce back from their Stamford Bridge humiliation against struggling Swansea this evening. Hatem Ben Arfa (8.0m) is a bit of a punt but the Frenchman could be set for a start against Everton this evening after impressing as a substitute in Newcastle’s late win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. Juan Mata is a relatively budget-friendly 9.2m for this evening’s Manchester derby. An injury to Robin van Persie saw the Spaniard shift to his preferred central berth behind Wayne Rooney on Saturday – his promptings from the role in “the hole” could make all the difference at Old Trafford.

Forward – Andy Carroll
A home clash with Hull gives Sam Allardyce the perfect chance to arrest a run of three straight defeats. The Hammers sit just six points clear of danger and Carroll’s contribution will be key tomorrow night – Steve Bruce’s side can expect an aerial bombardment as the hosts look to feed their 10.8m-priced target man in and around the area. Having missed the weekend win over Fulham through illness, Edin Dzeko has returned to full training and could be set to lead the line for Manchester City tonight. Priced at 10.2m, he’s scored in four of his last seven league appearances and looks in the mood to take advantage of United’s poor home form under David Moyes. Finally, Danny Welbeck will set you back just 8.4m for tonight’s Manchester derby. There’s no guarantee he’ll start but, at that price, the United frontman could well be worth a flutter as David Moyes looks to build on Saturday’s win over West Ham.

What do you guys think to these defensive transfers for rest of season:

Current defenders are: Cheste, Williamson, Coleman, Azpi, Evra

-After GW 32, ditch Evra for Cahill to double up on CHE defence (who have STO, swa, SUN)
-Ditch Coleman after DGW 34 for Zaba (who has WBM, CPA, eve, AVL, WHM)
-Take Cahill out for Evra in time for DGW 37 (United have (SUN and HUL)

doubling up on Chelsea for those 3 weeks could be gain lots of points. And I dont think Coleman is needed after the DGW, while city have good games and another double

everton are dead to me week 35 onwards
arsenal, chelsea and even united defence too good not to have.
I am going to waith and see how league sits before decideing who to double up on, could be some teams need to increase goal difference and go attacking

I agree. City's defence is already leaky. However if they win their next few games they may play a bit more defensively.

Anfield is the only problem. 6 points from the other two no sweat. The previous fixture at the etihad was the game of the season for me. Some of the passing moves were out of this world...from both teams

That's overstating the fact a bit, Anfield being the only problem and the others being no sweat. I think somewhere between 3 and 6 points is realistic though.

Baines v Coleman has been a bit like Mark's v Jonty's respective advice this season.

Baines showed moments of genius but has mostly been a punt despite his class, as his form has mysteriously disappeared at times. Coleman on the other hand has steadily improved throughout the season.

#Disclaimer, both are much better than I will ever be and should play for England 😉

We do have a big issue at RB for the England team. Walker defo not good enough nor are smalling jones etc. Never convinced by Johnson but he i s best of bad bunch.

We also have issues at CB and midfield and up front and on the wing but lets not go there right now!

LB situation ain't that rosy either, but I think upfront you're quite okay with Roo and Studge. 😉

...and Shaw may fix your LB situation in future, but you have to wait for that.

Baines is a defensive liability and lacks experience despite his age, and Cole hardly plays anymore after losing his place to a young RB. Maybe okay, but to say you don't have issues there, or that Cole and Baines were amongst world's best, sounds just way wrong to me.

Fair enough. I agree on Baines' experience.
I disagree on Cole though, he's won everything with Chelsea and has never looked like the pressure's got to him for club or country, even when he's not been in favour. Perhaps he's not as fast as he once was but he could still do a great job in any team in the world. Severely underrated as a footballer because he's a t*sser.

Coleman has played a lot as Right Winger during Moyes Era. So for him to adapt in Martinez free flowing passing style was much better, Baines had to adapt to passing football, He still would have finish ahead of Coleman if he played those 6 games he missed

    Guys,

Do you think Nolan>Arnautovic and Sturridge>Rooney is a good transfer?

After the Everton DGW I'd look to do Lukaka>Sturridge

Currently chasing a 90 point lead and I feel Rooney is a good shout at the moment. I think he will finish the season strong but not sure he will outscore Sturridge.

Maybe I'm better doing Lukaku>Rooney and keeping Sturridge? To fund it I could downgrade Gerrard to say Eriksen.

        Thanks for the reply.

Haven't even considered him tbh - could be a good shout!

Not sure how to play out these last few weeks. We have very similar teams at the moment so obviously I need to load up on a few differentials but I don't want to lose out on the points of the players I am taking out that he has if that makes sense but I suppose that's the risk I need to take.

        My team:
        Adrian Harper
        Baines Terry Zab Chambers John
        Nolan Hazard Gerrard Yaya Colback
        Suarez Lukaku Sturridge

        His team:
        McGregor Harper
        Collins Kosc Coleman Bruce Gabbidon
        Johnson Hazard Gerrard Yaya Mikel
        Suarez Lukaka Sturridge

I want to hold onto Baines and Zab because of their extra GW's and Terry because of Chelsea's defensive record. Gerrard I could let go off as he was a differential for me up until this GW. Lukaku I am not keen on but he has a DGW but even then I think Rooney will outscore him.

        What do you think?

Yeah. This was the match they had him for, I'd think. But they are quite probable to keep that clean sheet, even if Swans are finally getting their players back from the infirmary.

    LEIGHTON BAINES

Does anyone else think that Baines is overrated? Im not talking from an FPL point but in real life

Yes he takes a good penalty and he can cross a ball yes.

But he lacks pace, isnt great one on one, gets caught out of position and has no experience at top level against best wingers in the world (champs lg).

Personally I would go Cole (I am biased as a chelsea fan but he certainly will be fresh) and Shaw for the future. Cole has played against Ronaldo/Messi et al and never been showed up and Shaw is the future. If Baines was 23-25 yrs old then fair enough but he isnt much younger than Cole.

difficult one. Shaw needs to go, but both Baines and Cole are getting on a bit, but I think Baines edges it because of his playing time this year.

Fresh may be one way of looking at Cole, but i'd call it rusty.

Who would you rather in first XI for a quarter final against Spain/Brazil/Argentina/Germany? Baines or Cole

        Cole for me every time.

There are a few friendlies before WC and Shaw could always play in a group game or 2 maybe

Shaw, probably, Cole second, Baines never. You're going to park the bus against any of these teams, so Baines will be of no use.

If this had been a year ago that this question came up I'd agree. But the fact is he hasn't been playing for his.club (yes I know he's currently injured) and Azpi is ahead of him.

I wouldn't want to see any player in the squad who wasn't playing, or playing very few games for their club.

It's not just Cole, my view accounts for.a few players Hodgson seems to put in the squad regardless

yes I like Gibbs too but he is far too injury prone as you say. Needs to play a full season (or somewhere near) before consideration. Hopefully as he gets older the injuries will subside.

For the rest of the GW? This really sounds like Zaba +3 points against Nolan, Sterling and Chester. Your advantage is that Nolan and Chester can't succeed the same time, so if Sterling doesn't start, you'll have an okay chance. But otherwise it's definitely him.

Too unlikely, I don't take that in count, it's either Chester cs or Nolan goal or neither. Your best chance is that it's neither, West Ham scoring without Nolan getting involved, and Sterling only makes useless 15 minute cameo, in which case you will probably win with Zaba's points.

Zaba can easily get CS, Noble can bag an assist, Evra lets say 0pt whereas ur rival have, chester who I think wont be keeping CS(I have him though) Nolan can easily blank, Sterling can bag an assist(cant see anything more than that)

ENGLAND STARTING XI plus bench (7)

If the world cup started tomorrow what would your first XI be

    Hart
    Johnson Cahill Terry Shaw
    Gerrard Henderson
    Ox Rooney Welbeck
    Sturridge

BENCH: Lambert, Lallana, Lampard, Jones, Foster, Cole, Barkley

Lallana runs Welbeck very close but I have gone for Welbz as he has always looked good for England (unlike Rooney!) The first thing I notice is how unimpressive that team is. Lets hope there are a few players who have storming ends to the season.

Terry does not play internationals, so cannot believe you missed out on Jagielka.

Not Shaw or Cole. Bring Walker and Baines, and Johsnon can play both fullback positions.

Wiltshire should be back as well.

Firstly it is my selection not Roys.

I wouldnt have Walker in the squad let alone first team. The baines thing has been discussed above, Im not a fan and he doesnt have any experience at top level.

I would pick JT for England every time, I would never have got rid of him.

Wilshere isnt fit to play tomorrow.

Jagielka should be on bench I guess , again not a fan of him at top level.

And I mean, I could name more than 10 without really even thinking about it.

Messi, C.Ronaldo, Bale, Lewandowski, Zlatan, Prso, Pandiani, Makaay, Henry, Simone, Inzaghi, Gomis, Wiltord, Henry, Morientes, Raul, Drogba, Shevchenko...

well, that 10 was filled already, so let's stop that there.

What I am really trying to think is the name of that Brazilian or something from a small East European club who scored a hatty against some smallish western club, I think it was against Braga, or possibly Benfica, and he might have been Portuguese himself. But can't remember his name.

Not all hat tricks are scored by big names from big clubs. I'm quasi sure Tikhonov scored one too, and then Roseborg at their day had at least one hat trick, if not more.

The season when ManU won the CL, Rosenborg had a very tight group against Juve and Galatasaray - with Hagi! They had this striker, good but not extraordinary, didn't make a huge career although was prolific in smaller leagues, but I'm pretty sure he scored all goals in a match that ended 3-0 against Galatasaray. I recall seeing that in highlights, I liked that Rosenborg team a lot back then. Rushfeld or something like that was his name. And I could bet he never scored another CL goal during all his career. Can't be bothered to check that, it would probably be too difficult and am probably wrong, but not much. I would definitely bet that he scored more than half of his career CL goals in that one match, if you don't count qualifications but only the final tournament.

It might have also been against Athletic that was the fourth team of the group I think. I can't find that match on internet. There are no highlights left apparently. I easily found Gala 3-0 Rosenborg, though.

I may also completely remember this wrong.
