Liverpool return to the summit courtesy of a pair of converted spot-kicks from skipper Steven Gerrard. Fellow Merseysiders Everton ease past Arsenal at Goodison Park, with Romelu Lukaku racking up a goal and assist as the Toffees register a sixth successive win ahead of their double Gameweek 34:

Gerrard Keeps Cool to Fire Liverpool Top
Once again, Steven Gerrard was Liverpool’s hero, twice keeping his composure to fire the Reds in front from the spot against a resilient West Ham and take his side back to the Premier League summit. The 9.4-priced midfielder ruthlessly punished the near 10,000 Fantasy managers who’d shipped him out ahead of the game, reaffirming his premium price tag with a 15 point-haul and taking his tally to 175 points, just five fewer than team-mate Daniel Sturridge. The Liverpool skipper also managed to steer clear of the referee’s wrath, ensuring his nine yellow cards didn’t affect his availability for the crucial title showdown with City at Anfield next Sunday – if he fails to pick up a yellow card in that one, he will avoid an automatic two-match ban.

Sturridge’s Patchy Form Continues
With Chelsea also on the agenda in their next three, those who have loaded up on the likes of Gerrard and Sturridge along with Luis Suarez may be more tempted to part company with the former Chelsea man after yesterday’s match. His blank means he has now scored just twice in the last six – he had previously produced nine goals from seven games upon his return from injury. Currently sitting in 34% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams, Sturridge has started to see significant sales since yesterday, with 16,000 already selling him on ahead of the City showdown – with cheaper in-form options like Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko handed a pair of fixtures apiece, the exodus could be set to pick up pace before the week is out as he quickly goes from essential to expendable in the eyes of many Fantasy managers.

Lukaku Stakes Claim for Double Gameweek Captaincy
A blank at Craven Cottage in the previous Gameweek had again raised question marks over Romelu Lukaku’s consistency, but the Belgian blew away clouds of doubt with a 12-point haul at the expense of Everton’s closest rivals in the race for fourth, Arsenal. The impressive performance – despite being fielded wide right – included a goal, an assist and maximum bonus points for the second time in three games. This takes his tally to four goals, two assists and eight bonus points in six appearances since recovering from an ankle problem in Gameweek 28 and, with Sergio Aguero returning from injury to shake up the City frontline ahead of the double Gameweek, Lukaku may have just made himself favourite for the armband as the most secure route into a side that have now scored three times in each of their last four matches.

Barkley Fit to Profit From Early Osman Injury
With the game at Goodison less than 10 minutes old, a head injury forced Leon Osman to take an early bath as Ross Barkley deputised from the bench. Barkley, an injury doubt himself before the game, picked up just three FPL points – despite heavy involvement – but the appearance of Everton’s young attacking midfielder alone will be enough to make a mark on Fantasy managers’ shopping list. Priced at just 5.2, Barkley could offer strapped-for-cash managers a route into the Toffees’ attack ahead of their bumper Gameweek 34 schedule, though there’s no doubt that, as Roberto Martinez’ recent rotation policy has shown, game time for any of Everton’s attacking midfielders is far from guaranteed.

Stones Looking Settled at the Back

Clean sheets have come at a premium for Everton this season. Roberto Martinez’s adventurous approach has drawn plaudits, but with three shut-outs in their previous 17 Premier League fixtures, the odds were against the Toffees keeping Arsenal at bay. With John Stones deputising for hamstrung England international Phil Jagielka at the heart of defence once again, Everton took their tally of clean sheets to three in the six games he has played. Coming in at just 4.1 in FPL, Stones (who has earned three bonus points over that run) arrives on Fantasy radars ahead of the double against Sunderland and Crystal Palace – Martinez remains cautious with Jagielka, saying it would be “a fatal gamble†to rush him back, but there’s no doubt picking either at this point still looks a punt, with the security of Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines and the mid-price Sylvain Distin seeming safer options.

Arsenal Boosted by Ramsey’s Return
Defeat at Everton saw Arsenal surrender another three points to their rivals in the race for fourth. A place in next season’s Champions League is now looking at serious risk, and with the Gunners winning just two of their last nine games, form is hardly on their side right now. Fortunately for Arsene Wenger, the fixture list now smiles kindly on his team (WHM, hul, NEW, WBA, nor), and with Aaron Ramsey cementing his recovery from injury by climbing off the bench at Goodison, Fantasy managers will be eyeing up the Welshman for the run-in. Now down to 6.9 in FPL, Ramsey’s return could re-invigorate a Gunners side with everything still to play for as they look to clinch that fourth spot once again.

Would it be completely mad to lose both Sturridge + Gerrard this week?

Really don't want to overly chase the double game week, but City's 2 doubles and good looking fixtures are really swaying me. Obviously dependent on Aguero news:

    Sturridge - > Aguero
    Gerrard - > AJ/Eriksen/Rambo

I'm not a member but stats hardly tell the full story. Johnson 4 points guaranteed + potential points vs Sturridge who just had one of his worst games

For those of you who are doubling up on Everton defence, what's your exit strategy? Obviously mci and mun defenders look enticing as well as chelsea's. There's also the dgw 37 for mun to prepare for and I'm guessing most of us would be looking at Rooney, Mata and Evra. With only 2 FT's, are hits inevitable?

Ship asap after GW34, at least one.

I'm hesitant about Mata if RVP is back for GW37. Moyes might very well completely ignore how well United has played in the last matches and move Rooney back as no10, and shift Mata to the wing again.

I would have to drop Hazard to fit in Mata along with Silva and Yaya, and if Mata's back on the wing, I think Hazard may well score more in his two games than Mata in three. Might go Rooney and double Utd def instead.

      8:
      Hart, Silva Yaya
      AJ
      Coleman, Lukaku
      Ward, Dann.

And 2ft the week after to sort out the mess 🙂

      8, no hits

Mannone, Coleman, Baines, Ward, Silva, Yaya, Lukaku and Aguero.

2FT to get Baines and Aguero in, but if Yaya turns out to be out for a long time, I might have to rethink my strategy a bit.

Do you read FourFourTwo? A couple of issues ago they had a really interesting special on footballers getting involved in radical religious terrorist organizations. It was quite fascinating & sad.

No, I've never heard of FourFourTwo.. Although with footballers having learnt to kick a ball from an early age, I'd say the majority (maybe a gross generalisation, I know, but it's a hypothesis) have no real education and possibly lack critical thinking skills; I doubt there are many free-thinkers out there on the pitch, making them easy prey for this kind of brainwashing.

Willing to take a hit this week,
But cant decide what to do.

To do Sturridge to Aguero I need to make up a mill.
Fonte/Azpi to a cheapie is probably my best bet.
But I could also do Haz to Nasri.

Or could bring in Dzeko for free.

                I absolutely loved it.

Huge culture shock, very difficult to do even the most trivial stuff since i was one of only a handful of non-native that i met in the 3 months there and pretty much no-one over the age of about 20 spoke any English.

Still, great sense of adventure and earnings - cost of living = life of a king.

I went through a recruiter but now Im here I realise there was really no need for that. Koreas nearly reached saturation point I feel. They are cutting lots of jobs and and the old ones aren't as good as they used to be. Still decent though. Too soon I feel though, in a few years time they'll be clamouring to get them back when the level of English plummets.

I think China is ripe for brave young English teachers. Not so much in Shanghai or Beijing, but in the other major cities.

If you fancy a new challenge, i would definitely recommend it.

I wouldnt mind living there but theres a price to pay. Jobs arent as good or as well paying as in Korea. Not as secure either. Unlikely you'll get that dream job beside the beach in Thailand. More like someplace in Bangkok lol

yeah, I definitely won't be looking for jobs in TL. Loved Chiang Mai and the beaches but BK is nuts. Any more than a couple of days there is too long IMO.

Was thinking about Cambodia or Vietnam actually, I've not yet visited but I think i'm going to like it there and money is not particularly important to me with a job like that.

Studied Marketing, work in sales. Have itchy feet.

Got a three month break in South East Asia starting Wednesday (as above), might just use the trip to look for teaching opportunities so i can spend the next couple of years out there.

I also pile a couple of articles on the Scouts each week. I charge them a princely fee for my work but even at their lowest rates, I only ever break even by the time they edited it to coherence 😀

    Mannone
    Dann - Coleman - Bardsley
    Hazard - Eriksen - Yaya - Silva
    Suarez - Sturridge - Lukaku

    Adrian - Flanagan - Chester - Sissoko

WHat suggestions would one make... Obvious would be Sturridge and Sissoko out im guessing??! Ive just dropped outside top 5k and 20 behind my mini league leader....

Is it too early to start panicking over my mini-league?

Trailing by 32 points with Mannone to play this week (both of us have Eriksen and I'd get Januzaj's 8 pts and him 0 from Chambers if he were not to play).

Our teams are very similar in many ways:
Suarez, Lukaku, Silva, Hazard, Eriksen, CHE def, EVE def etc.

Do you think I should start taking risks already now or shall I just keep plugging away and hope I can still slowly overtake him?

32 points isn't a huge amount with DGWs to come. I made up 90 points in 3 weeks earlier in the season, without DGWs.

Play your own game until GW35 at least and see where you are.

Finish off my team with 2 free trannies, 3m in bank!

    Szczesny
    Coleman(2), Ward(2), Ivan
    Barkley(2), Yaya(2), Johnson(2), Hazard (Snodgrass)
    Suarez, Sturridge, Lukaku (2)

Thinking Studge -> Aguero, (plus one other?)
or Snoddy -> Silva, Studge -> Dzeko, bench Hazard.

    Thoughts?
