The ScoutCast revolution is here. Not content with having to ensure our voices are up to scratch, Granville and myself decide to risk ridicule and stream our first live Google Hangout version, putting our hairlines and choice of décor on the line.

Having embarked on this brave new world, it also made sense to shake up the content so we welcome back Jonty to fire us a whole host of questions from the community and introduce some special guests along the way. We start this week with none other than the world’s top Fantasy Premier League manager – Luke Weston is in the house to rub shoulders with mediocrity and field our inquisition.

If you missed the live stream, you can catch the full “warts and all” hangout version via the player below or, if you’re a traditionalists, you can help yourself to the regular edited podcast version via this link or stream it via the first player.

PS: Apologies that we focus the camera on Granville and then myself – this is down to human error rather than our huge egos. With our ranks, we’d rather have been off camera.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Already did Yaya to Nasri and Dzeko to Aguero -4

Should I do Mirallas to Mata -8

    Could save till next week...

Do you think that Nasri is a rotation risk for the DGW if Silva and Kun are fully fit? I think that I might go Ramsey instead as Arsenal will have somthing to play for till the end.

id pick Ramsey too. now that milner has found some form, plus there's navas waiting in the wings, a 2 striker system and Silva coming back it could happen. Nasri is very effective playing in an attacking role behind the striker or thereabouts. the role he's playin he is just slowing down play is all.. that being said i may still end up going for him 🙂

Milner was awful against SUN. Before that game I was always wondering why Pelle doesn`t play him more(used to like him a lot @Villa), but after that game I understand him. His passing and crossing was terrible..Imo Nasri is more than safe

I'm going with Suarez (C) at the moment, but I'm still kind of half looking at Sergio..

I'm not sure if I buy the whole "Suarez is bound to get a hattrick just because its Norwich", does he have some sort of agenda against the canaries or something?

Norwich have been more defensively solid at home this year than ever before, and they beat man city 1-0 at home, they're a decent side when they park the bus, they just can't score for their lives.

I still expect Liverpool to win, and probably comfortably by around 3-0, but I'm not sure how well Suarez will do, this is just speculation but he only has one goal in his last 4 games. Could be the case where he creates for Coutinho/Sterling or gets penalties for Gerrard, or corners for Skrtel.

So what if Aguero gets a brace v West Brom at home?
He has already scored against them this year in just an hour of football. West Brom are a team that REALLY can't defend, and Aguero is great at the Etihad.

Just food for thought, probably going to go with Suarez for the fear factor of everyone else going for him, but Aguero could work out.

You can make a case for almost any scenario but you know Suarez will get 90 mins, he's the only striker they have this week and Liverpool have to win.

Yep, I agree, but that doesn't guarantee goals.

Sturridge may as well have not been playing for the last 3 games (three 2-pointers) and yet Liverpool won all three.
Suarez has only scored 1 goal in 4 games, they're relying more on their mids + Skrtel these last 2/3 weeks.

Its a tougher match than people think.

And it's the half-season that hints at his unreliability. I've skippered him twice in games where he's scored then hobbled off and I'm not putting myself through it again.

If you're chasing and need a differential then Sergio.

If you're out in front and need a safe run home - Suarez.

I feel a little the same as you though, surely little Rat-boy can't keep whacking in hat tricks against Norwich, but then I've been burned twice by not having him for that fixture.

Any suggestions on who to play and bench order:

    Marshall
    Terry Zabaleta Coleman
    Mutch Eriksen Puncheon Silva
    Lambert Aguero Suarez

    Mannone Ramsey Demel Ward

I'm really stuck as to who to play from Coleman (MUN), Lambert (avl), Mutch (STK) and Puncheon (whu). Last 3 game weeks I've had A LOT of points ending up on the bench, is surely the greatest bane of the fantasy player!

    The art of taking hits.

In acknowledging the somewhat depressing fact that FPL league leader Luke Weston has taken 76 points worth of hits this season compared to my 0 and is still almost 350 points ahead of me, I have to conclude that the 'no hits' strategy I normally play (I've taken about 4 in 5 years of playing this game) is not the most effective - at least not this season.

I've had some good ranks in the past (top 3k last season, top 6k the season before) and I've always played the strategy of not taking hits unless they are somehow mitigated (e.g. if I only have 9 starting players) preferring to try and avoid them by planning ahead. Of my 4 hits, I can only remember one paying off and I regretted the others.

So I figure that neither 'no hits' or 'lots of hits' are good policies in of themselves but, rather, that there's an 'art' to taking hits. It's one I definitely haven't mastered but some people seem to so I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on how to take hits 'the right way'?

You have to take hits for the right players. That sounds obvious but looking at Luke Weston's history he's probably been taking hits in previous seasons and been nowhere near world no1.

The stars have aligned for him this year and it's all coming off. Normally spending points is too much of a risk for the serious player.

60 points worth of hits here, and 14K. Sometimes they come off, sometimes they don't. The art to them is to use them on players that you would probably keep for a few weeks anyway, taking a hit for a Chelsea defender, Hazard, Suarez, Yaya, Ramsey this season would have been well worth it over keeping any other players in their position. Just looking at what colour arrow I got when I took a hit it is 8-5 in favour of taking a hit (8 Greens)

This season I've tried to limit my hits to something like one every 8 games but there are certain cases that I wouldn't think twice about taking one, like a Suarez v Norwich situation or a Dgw for instance.

I'm tight with hits in general but you have to be able to adapt. For instance last week play Ki or go -4 for Nasri. Yes it worked out taking the -4 and you get the points in the bag as well as having Nasri for West Brom this weekend. DGW also making taking hits much easier as the loss is generally less.

Interestingly the 2nd and 3rd placed guys have taken substantially fewer hits (8 & 5 respectively - though that still seems a lot to me 🙂 ).

In the unlikely event that the league ends up drawn for points and it came down to transfers made....

That's the only negative side to taking hits, but what are the odds of finishing on the same points!

Having said that, I'd say I've taken more hits than anyone else around my rank so I probably lose a couple of hundred places because of that 🙁

If you're bringing in a captain then it's worth a hit. Also if an unexpected player is doing well and his price is going through the roof then it's worth a hit to bring him in at the lowest price possible.

They can pay off, especially for the DGWs.

Also, keep in mind that hits can be looked at over the medium to long term as well. Planning can only get you so far. What if there are 2 or 3 players (that you don't have) flourishing? Taking a hit or two to get them in early can pay off big time.

Choosing right player holds key.I transferred out Terry to Zabaleta for -4 this week & end up losing 12 points.

For those with the Lukaku -> dilemma... Lukaku scores against the 'big' teams more than he does the bottom teams.

    He stays for me!

I counted Southampton as a 'big team' Arsenal, Southampton, Man City, Liverpool are the big teams he has scored against. So 5 of his 13 goals have come against 'big teams' obviously he plays them less but I wouldn't say he's better at scoring against bigger teams or smaller teams, his goal scoring just seems random.

Anyone looking for a cheap differential away from Puncheon, then Bolasie is playing amazingly well over the last few weeks, switched wings many times during the Everton game and skinned Baines/Coleman on many occasions. Assists last two games, hit the bar/post loads of times, just needs to get that first goal and they will pour in 🙂

Norwich have played 11 games at home since November, including United, City and Spurs..

They've only conceded 6 goals in total.

1 goal conceded against the combined 3 of United, City and Spurs.

    Just saying.
