Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge grab a goal apiece as Liverpool race to a three-goal lead at Selhurst Park. Dwight Gayle emerges from the bench to notch twice and help snatch an unlikely draw which all but ends the Merseysiders’ hopes of clinching the title:

Suarez and Sturridge Both in the Goals
Handed a brief sub role in the previous Gameweek, Daniel Sturridge went into last night’s encounter as a doubt after failing to train for much of the week. Passed fit for the vital Selhurst Park showdown, the England international’s return to the Liverpool starting XI saw Brendan Rodgers shift away from a 4-3-3 and roll out a midfield diamond behind the “SAS” front two, with both the Merseysiders’ front men amongst the goals. Sturridge’s strike was his first since Gameweek 31 and, having plummeted in price from 10.7 to 9.8 in recent weeks, he looks set for a major bandwagon for Sunday’s home encounter with Newcastle.

Suarez is also likely to earn new owners. Sold by over 76,000 Fantasy managers due to the double Gameweek, he had struggled with illness prior to the match but still managed to fire his 31st strike of the season before the Reds somehow blew a three-goal lead late on. With the likes of Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney struggling for fitness, many will move back to the Uruguayan and hand him the armband as Rodgers’ side attempt to recover from last night’s capitulation.

Gerrard in the Points Again
After producing blanks in each of the previous two Gameweeks, the Reds skipper delivered a pair of assists for his Fantasy owners in a pulsating 3-3 stalemate. With 13 goals and 13 assists this season, Gerrard has now surpassed last season’s tally of 185 points and has moved up to 194 – just six behind Eden Hazard in the FPL midfield standings. Raheem Sterling’s role in “the hole” behind the front two helped the youngster to an assist against the Eagles – indeed, his withdrawal on 71 minutes proved crucial and allowed the hosts to claw back a three-goal deficit. Priced at just 6.2, Sterling is another who looks poised for investment as Rodgers’ side look to go on the attack against a Magpies side that has lost six of their last seven.

Reds’ Porous Defence Proves Costly
Whilst Suarez and Sturridge have wreaked havoc on top-flight defences and delivered 52 goals between them, Rodgers’ backline has proven to be Liverpool’s Achilles heel. Last night’s result means the Reds have now conceded two or more goals in each of their last four matches, and although two of those fixtures resulted in victories, there’s no getting away from the fact that Liverpool desperately need to tighten up at the back next year. The 3-3 draw means they have now conceded 49 goals this term – that’s one more than 15th-placed Hull and some 23 more than third-placed Chelsea, for example.

Supersub Gayle Dents the Reds’ Title Hopes
A bit-part player under Tony Pulis, the summer signing’s 22-minute cameo off the bench looks to have handed City the title on a plate. Gayle had featured just three times in the previous 15 Gameweeks – all brief second-half sub appearances – but his two-goal salvo is set to have a huge effect on the race for the title. Liverpool may be a point ahead of City, but a win for Manuel Pellegrini’s men at home to Villa on Wednesday would give them a two-point advantage at the summit, and with a superior goal difference to the Merseysiders, it now looks City’s title to lose.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Who will be 2014/15's breakout and improved players from existing Premier League sides.

There are those like Luke Shaw who could move after the prices have been set and nail down a regular place. Or perhaps it will be a player that has been a squad player but should break through next season, as Barkley did this year. Or perhaps it will be a revitalised Robin Van Persie under his national coach? Or perhaps Ozil will be more consistent with a premier league season now under his belt? Be great to read your suggestions.

Tbh the revers is true. Most people were shocked at the inflated prices of some of the good picks this season ..but as always the game developers got them about right.I'm sure they only set the prices in respect of the budget every year...as in they are aware FPL players need a spread of funds across a range of qualities....It'll still be enough to do...

I have read loads of comments saying Liverpool 'bottled it' and defended badly etc, the only mistake I feel that BR made last night was bringing Sterling off, the game completely changed after that, every time Liverpool went forward that looked as awesome as usual but those substitutions swung the game and breathed new life into Palace who were then able to attack more freely without the fear of the counter.
Don't get me wrong, BR had every reason to bring him off at 3-0 up and game 'won', championships are won and lost on such game changers.
I am a united fan and wouldn't have begrudged Liverpool winning the title, I'm all about watching the beautiful game and pool have definitely entertained this season.

This has turned out the most frustrating GW of my FPL career

    Kun - armband and injured
Ramsey - inj. replaced by Dann - total score = 0
Azpil - DNP while che keep CS - replace by Noone = 0
Rooney - sick and injured - Replaced by DGW chester - total score = 0

On top of that my ML rival had studge come on for oscar = +6pts

Distaster, 14 point lead into an 8 pt deficit.

    Rant over

Fifa games always had him as the best young CB, Football Manager, football "experts", pundits have all rated him highly and he had enough of a reputation to be scouted by the best teams in the world..

        He seems clueless in Liverpool.

It is. Relative to 25, with 8 local players. How many do City and PSG have in the first place? And seen they cannot buy new players without selling first etc. They probably just have to bring up players from youth academy, leaving them with around 15-16 regular first squad players. This really restricts them in the long season. PSG, out of these two, may fare a better with these restrictions, seen that they have quite a few "association-trained" players in their first team regulars anyway, and already play a couple of players from their very classy youth academy.

As a fan of a team who has both won and lost the league on the last day of the season I know all too well that the league is far from finished.

Yes City are in pole position and it is theirs to lose but they may bottle it or get a large number of injuries to key player on Wednesday.

Also if City do not win on Wednesday, Chelsea are back in the race as well.

30 pt lead in my ML coming into this GW, 8 DGW players to his 4.

Currently sitting at a 1 point deficit, with 5 injuries to his 1.

    Conclusions:

    1. DGW players are often overrated
    2. Unbelievably bad luck

Me: Rooney, Aguero (C), Demi, De gea, Amalfitano, Yaya, Mata, Colback ( off the bench) and Chester (ruled out) to play

Him: Dzeko, Manonne, Yaya, Mata (C)

Surely I'll be ahead again by the end of this week?! But this week has already shown that there is no such thing as certainties.

JOE90 wouldn't need to take a hit to field 11 players this week, and if he takes hits then he's expecting the players he brings in to outscore their transferred players by 4 points in one game which is risky..
