2 major things that MOTD hammered home (not that I didn't already know them)
1) As I've talked about this before, but a lack of protection for the back 4 from midfield (who socred for Swansea?) no one in midfield closes down and our defenders bar Evans lack any positional sense or an ability to sense danger)
2) No defensive leader. Smalling and Jones are decent defenders but neither is a leader, they can;t organise, hence why no one went with Bony. Evans is no Vidic in this regard but he is far better than either of the other 2. For me, it's not just about signing a defender, it's about signing a leader, someone who can organise the back 4.Open Controls
I'm no expert, but it seems to me that deciding to forge ahead with a 3-centre-back system when you don't have even one genuinely reliable centre backs seems somewhat foolhardy.
