That “difficult” second Gameweek. You can shine on your debut but it’s the follow-up that can so often find you out.

I got through the opening weekend unscathed. I’ve had no major fires to put out – no significant bandwagons missed that forced my hand and pushed me into spending points on trades. As I’ve often stated, however, this can create a dangerous scenario.

Often, when it becomes obvious that you need to react to a trend – signing Gylfi Sigurdsson for example – your next decision is so clear, there’s no need to deliberate and ponder. Uncertainty and noise can’t get in to cloud your judgment and you’re not tempted into false tampering.

My Gameweek 2 situation is very different. Looking at my lineup, Ashley Young’s presence as a midfield “filler” was perhaps my only real concern. United huffed and puffed and, with injuries biting, may well struggle to find form and Fantasy returns at Sunderland tomorrow. Having said that, I was ready to give Young more time – to see out the Gameweek and bank my trade.

Then, that uncertainty crept in and lure of making a potentially profitable trade proved too much. I avoided the overnight Ashley Young price drop and welcomed the unpredictable talents of Tom Ince to my dressing room and starting XI. I can dress it up but, really, I know that’s a vanity transfer.

Unlike those who had their hand forced to move for Sigurdsson, it’s difficult to feel confident about my decision. Young will likely start at Sunderland and United, with Robin van Persie set to be restored to the starting lineup, certainly have the tools to score goals and pile on the misery for me.

I struggle to come to terms with a price drop so early, though: that 5.5 midfielder looks pretty significant. There are potential bargains to be found – I already have Jordan Mutch but I also think that Charles N’Zogbia, Yannick Bolasie, Craig Gardner, Jonjo Shelvey and James Ward-Prowse, in addition to Ince, could prove useful short-term signings for periods of the season. Losing that 0.1 will have hampered my ability to chop and change in that area with a single transfers and, in the end, that proved a deciding factor.

I’ve allowed the game to “play” me then, for the market to dictate my first transfer. I managed to get through Gameweek 1 without major misgivings but, for all the logic and stats I can throw at the Ince for Young trade, I worry I’m going to find myself at home to “Mr Regret”. I’ve made his bed and the kettle’s on in anticipation of his arrival.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Killian here from http://www.playon.co

A quick note to say that our new feature - In-Play Games - is now live so you can continue entering one-on-one, 3, 4, 5 and 10 player games while all the matches are unfolding in real time.

We also have a new feature where you can use other people's teams so even if you haven't picked a team this week you can still browser through all the teams picked this week and use any one of them to enter games - you also get the benefit of any points already scored by the team.

You can see it all now at http://www.playon.co

        Hi Giggs,
Yes you can find the team that is doing the best at any time and then use that team to enter games. We also give the team creator the ability to earn an income from people using their teams so they keep a % of the winnings made from people using their teams - if you log onto the matchday page now you can amend how much revenue share you want for people using your teams. It is likely that the team creator who has the highest scoring team each week will look for a higher split of the winnings (from 2%-20%) of people using his team.

Presumably if you wait until just before the game on Monday night the cost of using that team will be close to the likely winning amount i.e. it will cost....

Yes but you get 80% of the winnings as a minimum but there must be a cost of entry that's higher than the initial stake.

We have set the range to be from 2%-20%. Each team can only be entered into each game once to avoid split pots but we have also given the team creator the option to opt out of allowing other people to use their teams. So the team creator with the highest score on a Monday night may want to opt out and just enter all games themselves. However if they wait until that point it is unlikely other people will enter the same game against them.

    (C) decision seems to be more difficult than i thought on Costa all week. Now a little worried.

Anyone concerned on the way CHE parked the bus after they went up on Burnley 3-1? They showed no interest in piling on goals during the second half. That said, does it worry you to give the armband to a CHE player thinking that they might be unlikely to run up the score thus decreasing the probability of a massive haul?

A little, but I think it'll be a different story at home. I also think Filipe Luis will start, which will make us much more attacking minded. This is also why I really think Hazard will rip it up, link up play between him and Luis could be deadly.

If you spend the whole year refusing to captain players playing at home to Leicester, I fear that you'll be in for a difficult season...

Can't play FPL like that. (well you can, but you mustn't expect to do well, much better to leave the loyalties at the door)

Really annoyed with this change in price rise system. Tfpl have obviously made some changes after the siggy case.

.1 rise with 300k transfers for fab

It happens every year to begin with. Don't sweat it. TotalFPL and Fiso are usually quick to catch up, given a few rises and falls to work with.

Rooney is good differential this week and I reckon they will do better away from home this season.

Even though Caulker is winning the poll (http://strawpoll.me/2389349) I still have doubts

Costa is the more sensible choice of the two I reckon. Although I'm going Gylfi

Anyone think Lamela might do well - he's much cheaper than Ericsen who i was considering..

Not on the Yahoo FF - Lamela is only 3.7 - Ericsen 11.2

        Thanks anyway
