Our Friday evening members regular, analysing the armband options in the Gameweek ahead, arrives once again. We continue with a three-part approach, taking in the weekly poll standings, the Opta player statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the Captain conundrum.

The first section is free to view for all visitors to the site and will analyse the chief protagonists, as selected in our Gameweek poll. The latter two parts are restricted to our members, as we delve deeper into the Opta and Rate My Team data.

The Captain Poll

For the first time this term, the Captain Poll is less conclusive as four teams are represented in the top five places. Wayne Rooney takes top spot for the second time in three Gameweeks – despite last week’s blank at Sunderland, the United man has received over 36% of the votes cast as Louis van Gaal’s side make their way to promoted Burnley. Team-mate Juan Mata earns just over 3% of votes by comparison, though he has scored seven times in his last eight league appearances.

City pair Stevan Jovetic and Sergio Aguero are also prevalent in our armband thoughts. After bagging a brace against Liverpool – and, crucially, starting both matches so far – Jovetic is narrowly ahead of the Argentine by 14% to 10%. Aguero’s two goals in just 31 minutes off the bench sums up his points potential, though, and there’s a feeling he could run riot against Stoke if let off the leash from the first whistle. Given how protective Manuel Pellegrini has been so far, there’s no doubt Aguero is the riskier of the two but he certainly has the ability to deliver if afforded the pitch time by his manager.

Aaron Ramsey splits the City pair in third spot. Suspended for Arsenal’s midweek Champions League win over Besiktas, he’ll be fully refreshed as the Gunners roll up to Leicester on Sunday and is looking to get on the scoresheet for the third successive Gameweek.

Gylfi Sigurdsson sits fifth in the Poll after picking up the points in both his appearances so far. With a home clash against West Brom on the horizon, Garry Monk’s side will be looking to the playmaker to lead them to a third successive win – Sigurdsson has convinced 7% of backers to hand him the armband against the Baggies.

With so much uncertainty surrounding Diego Costa’s minutes this weekend, few look likely to opt for a Chelsea player as their Gameweek 3 captain – Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard have been selected by 2% and 1% respectively. Similarly, faith in Tottenham and Liverpool’s attackers seems limited as the pair go head-to-head at the Lane – Erik Lamela leads the way from our contenders with 1% of votes, suggesting the Argentine, along with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling, could be a real left-field armband pick this weekend if Sunday’s encounter can serve up the goals.

Any word of whether hull's Bruce is likely to start? And secondly anyone got any strong opinion as to why i should or shouldn't swap Costa to Jovetic?

No idea what to do to my team. Want rid of Hutton and Chambers, but why would I get rid of them this week with Hutton at home to Hull and Chambers away at Leicester.

    Here's the team
    DE Gea Gilks
    Terry Chambers Collocini Hutton Ferdinand
    Mata Ramsey Fabregas Siggy Wanyama
    Costa Rooney Jovetic

Nothing in the bank and 2 transfers.

I think you're both right, Chambers has to be my transfer this week, but it's utterly boring. Would you rather Chambers to PVA or a 4.5 Soton defender?

Soton's only 4.5 defender might be dropped soon, so PVA is the better buy.

I would be more inclined to ditch Ferdinand and bank the 0.5, Dummet is 4.0 and has great fixtures. QPR are toilet. Team looks solid otherwise.

    Krul â–  Mannone
    Cahill â–  Debuchy â–  Clyne â–  Ferdinand â–  Moore
    Ramsey â–  Mata â–  Sigurdsson â–  Fábregas â–  Young
Rooney â–  Diego Costa â–  Bojan

2 FT, £0.5m in the bank.

    Costa, Bojan & Young out?

I would look to Bojan and Young this week but only becuase you will probably want to bring Costa back in a few weeks. If you dont mind transferring him out then obviously it will allow you to do more with your team in terms of upgrading one of Bojan/Young.

So you could do Costa>Jovetic and Young>Eriksen/Lamela

      That's a marvellous team.

I'm not sure on the Costa situation TM. From Jose saying he will at most be on the bench to him fully fit in no time. It's really fishy to me.

Young to a 4.5 and hold the other. Use your two frees over international break to downgrade Mata and upgrade Bojan.

I would seriously think about it, TM. Two ways to go. Sturridge, Fletcher and Albrighton. Then you can decide which way to go during the international break, 343 or 352. Or you could go Jovetic, Ade and Albrighton. Both look decent avenues and worth the hit for me.

Eligible yes. Match fit not sure.

Doubt the Foxes will keep a cleanie this GW but when the fixtures ease Camby might make the 4m/4.5m defenders viable. I've got Moore parked on my bench and I'll be more confident playing him when Camby's in front of him.

The back line might hold this GW but after that it's a disaster.
Hutton has a string of heavy defeats looming, Bruce will be in the reserves and Wisdom probably benched. If Terry gets rotated between Champ League games, you're in big trouble.

I don't understand the love personally. 5.3 now for a defender not nailed on in the long term.

Should be nailed at least until Walker is back, possibly even then

You probably missed his goal scoring spree but a TOT defender isn't bad for clean sheet potential.

Got to fit him in somewhere.. Going to be extremely had to keep everyone happy.

Also, the only other options for midfield are Clerverley and Anderson Or Jan and i would have MAta over any of them in CM.

Is Costa dropping tonight? Or a potential replacement rising?
