The Dugout Discussion – Burnley Vs Man United

Gameweek 3 gets underway with a lunchtime encounter between Burnley and troubled United. Having lost their first two matches, the Clarets are desperate to get points on the board and will certainly be buoyed by the current form of today’s opponents, as Louis van Gaal’s side stumble from one poor result to another.

With Angel di Maria poised to make his debut for the visitors, though, Fantasy owners of United’s attackers have a renewed sense of optimism for the Turf Moor meet. Captain Poll favourite Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie are all more than capable of delivering in emphatic fashion and could be set to benefit from the Argentine’s arrival.

Following this one, we have five matches to savour at 3pm before Everton host Chelsea in the evening kick-off at Goodison.

Horrible to watch Manchester United just playing long ball. Should be playing better and nicer football.

they at least knew when to keep the ball on the floor.

Exactly! I'm not a Man U fan but this is disappointing to watch. I hope LVG is given the time to make the players fit his philosophy and style of playing. Unlucky he has so many injuries which doesn't allow him to play his 433

Quite. This system depends on playing the ball out from the back. The English lads can't do it - they either hoof it or give it away.

Di Maria's long ball to RVP reminded me of the old days of Song over the top to RVP. Except then RVP would have scored.

It'll take time, and better signings. When was the last time they unearthed a real gem? Paying over the odds shows the scouting network is awful too.

As a Rooney owner I don't like it but he needs to play in midfield. This isn't working

      THIS.

They could do with snatching up a Douglas Costa at the last minute and sitting young´s ass down as well.

Persie needs to be taken off. No point in acting as a star. If you play bad you go out, simple as that...

That young push in the box wasn't exactly shoulder to shoulder. Valid claim for a penalty there.

    United lumping long balls forward

Mata rooney hardly had a touch

    United defence is embarrassing

Mata is looking a bit lazy and lacking the brain to actually get in spaces to get the ball. Rooney looks braindead, running back to get it and holding it just to have a touch...no plan.
