Brendan Rodgers confirms that Daniel Sturridge is set for a short spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury. Aaron Ramsey has emerged as an injury concern for Arsenal’s clash with City at the Emirates. Romelu Lukaku is amongst a quartet of players to return to training for Everton. Alan Pardew has ruled Rolando Aarons out of weekend visit to St Mary’s. Roberto Soldado remains a doubt as Spurs visit the Stadium of Light and Leicester are set to be boosted by the return of midfielder Matty James.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Aaron Ramsey “has a chance for Saturday” after the midfielder picked up an ankle injury on international duty with Wales. Elsewhere, Kieran Gibbs, Mikel Arteta and Mesut Ozil have all been passed fit and are set to be included in the squad, though the Arsenal boss has refused to confirm whether or not new signing Danny Welbeck will feature from the start.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku is likely to be in contention to face West Brom at the weekend. Lukaku had been struggling with a toe problem, and subsequently missed Belgium’s friendly with Australia, but the club record signing has taken part in training today along with Steven Pienaar, Arouna Kone and Bryan Oviedo. Samuel Eto’o and Leon Osman both face late fitness tests after sustaining knocks in the past week.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to be out for “up to three weeks” with a thigh injury, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed. Meanwhile, summer signing Emre Can could be sidelined for up to six weeks after the midfielder suffered an ankle injury while playing for Germany Under-21s. Joe Allen will also be assessed ahead of the Villa game after hurting his knee while turning out for Wales earlier this week, though Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan are all out.

Newcastle have suffered another injury blow, with Alan Pardew confirming that Rolando Aarons will miss the weekend visit to St Mary’s after sustaining a hamstring injury. In more positive news, Pardew revealed that midfielder Cheick Tiote will be in the squad for Saturday providing he returns from international duties unscathed, while Jack Colback has also declared himself fit for the trip to Southampton. New signing Facundo Ferreyra has been ruled out with a back injury.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Roberto Soldado is a doubt for the Sunderland clash with a neck injury, while Kyle Walker remains sidelined.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed new boy Sadio Mane is uncertain to feature at home to Newcastle. The Senegal star has to travel to Ghana to receive a work permit and, even if he’s available, is set for a bench role at best.

Leicester’s Matty James has returned to training after missing the start of the season with a shin injury. Nigel Pearson, though, has hinted that the Stoke clash is likely to come too soon for the central midfielder.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

    Ramsey, Siggy, Hazard, Sterling
    Costa, Rooney, Dzeko

    Elliot, Marley, NTaylor, Jones

I'm seriously doubting Dzeko - have him myself. He may only come off the bench. But maybe not worth a hit to get rid, though...

        Jovetic is injured
        dzeko is starting
Dzeko can score and has a great midfield to supply his chances

Yoshida will lose his place to Toby. Wilson looks to be ok, Hughes seems a fan.

Playing my wildcard. I'd really appreciate feedback, lads.

    De Gea McCarthy (cheap)

Clyne Wilson Baines van Aanholt Duff (cheap)

Ramsey Di Maria Sterling Fabregas Siggy

    Rooney Welbeck Gayle

You have also gone with an expensive left back...wouldn't it be best to wait until Everton's fixtures pick up before picking Baines?

Everton have a decent set of fixtures coming up. He takes pens, too. Might take Ramsey out for Zaha and put Costa alongside Rooney.

Clyne home to Newcastle. Or Siggy away to Chelsea ?

In a game of seemingly obvious decisions only the astute one wins the prize.

Good question actually. Really good... I'd double-check the odds on a Clyne cleanie, but I'd PROBABLY end up playing Siggy.

Someone talk me out of this as i am going insane and finally think ive cracked my team for the next 6GWs!

    Mannone
    Clyne Moreno Pieters
    Fabregas Zaha Sterling DiMaria
    Costa Falcao Welbeck

    McCarthy Sigurdsson Duff Taylor

Defence rotates well for 7 GWs
Could possibly sell Zaha>Boyd in GW5 to improve GKs

As I say, im going slightly bonkers, going round in circles with this team. Di Maria was my biggest concern as didnt know if I should go for Sanchez or Silva instead

          11 years, 6 months ago

Having both Falcao and DiMaria might pay off but you're also risking that one of them returns far less than their potential. The shopping spree this summer makes their whole lineup a style of play a bit too unclear for me which is why I'd go for one and swap the other for Silva or Balo for instance

I agree. I think I will start with Falcao and Di Maria but can easily swap to Silva Balo in coming GWs. Thanks

Laying on a sun lounger under a palm tree considering my next move, team is currently as follows:

    Krul (mannone)
    Wisdom Cahill Chester (Vlaar chambers)
    Siggy mata Eriksson sterling (Ramsey)
    Rooney (c) Costa Naismith

Used I freebie last weekend before left uk as was unsure on wifi, bojan to Naismith no brainer. Still have one freebie and think I should hold until we see how all new signings get on at weekend?

    Thoughts much appreciated

So I've read a lot of people say 'DON'T BENCH SIGGY' this gameweek but I'm very tempted to swap him for Zaha. If I bench Siggy and play Zaha then my entire team has home fixtures 🙂

Here is my team in full:

    Begovic (Krul)

    Lovren, Bertrand, Evans (Moore, Hutton)

    Siggy, Rambo, Sterling, Fabregas, (Zaha)

    Welbeck Costa(c) Falcao

Jovetic is out injured and I don't think Pelle can play Aguero on his own up top....so Dzeko starts. But I think them offloading Negredo will come to bite them, strange decision.

      Strong.

Pretty much my backline, but wisdom may lose his place, recommend Moore. Decent differential in Di Maria. I also had the same thoughts with Aguero. Maybe Naismith > Welbeck, but that's just my opinion, I just think Naismith is due for an end to his purple patch.

Ok so I am in a bit of bother. Already took a 4 pt hit before intetnational break (foolish I know) but now I have Ramsey (carrying a knock)and Sturridge (injured). With a bench of Hutton Bruce and Marney my options are not great. Do I take another four point hit to get in balo or falc for studge or do I just sit and play hutton or Marney? Towards the top of most of my mini leagues with a bit of a cushion in the main one. Should I take the hit incase somebody else has a high scoring striker.
