I can't understand either. A very big risk had a very big reward. With other good options (at the time) risky Costa didn't even enter my thinking.
Same story as GW3. To be fair there were photos of Costa training and it's easier to keep him and captain him than ditch and captain someone else. If he really was injured you would have a VC. Now he wasn't injured and he scored 17 pts.

Even if a player is flagged, I think the general unwritten rule is to leave him in and arrange your subs so someone half decent steps in...not just write the injured player off completely and sub before Kick Off.
As you have seen, it can burn you. You lose nothing either way as the sub steps in. All a learning curve i suppose mate!
