LVG made that substitution to see how Rooney playing behind RVP & Falcao worked. The other option he has is the one he started with. In my opinion, Mata will be safe and RVP will alternate with or even not make the team due to Falcao.

Looking at their squad on paper I don't see why they shouldn't play 3-4-3, with Mata - Herrera - Blind - Di Maria and Van Persie - Falcao - Rooney. That's an awesome attacking force. What am I missing?
