Angel di Maria steers United to their first win of the season with a goal and assist against QPR. Wayne Rooney and Ander Herrera mirror the Argentine’s returns, while Juan Mata is also on the scoresheet in an emphatic 4-0 demolition.

Di Maria Dazzles on Home Bow
Handed a berth on the left of a midfield diamond, the Argentine leapt to Fantasy managers’ attention with a pivotal role in yesterday’s rout. After somewhat fortuitously opening the scoring with a free-kick, Di Maria teed up Juan Mata for the hosts’ fourth and turned in a performance that is set to get the bandwagon rolling ahead of next week’s trip to Leicester. Indeed, with home matches against West Ham and Everton allied with a trip to West Brom in the next four, some may even be contemplating a shift to 3-5-2 in order to accommodate the Argentine in their starting line-ups.

Rooney Back in the Points
While Robin van Persie blanked once again, the England star replicated Di Maria with a goal and assist against the R’s. Handed a role alongside the Dutchman, Rooney certainly staked a claim to continue in the advanced role – certainly, on current form, there’d be no real surprise if Van Persie dropped out to accommodate Radamel Falcao.

Nonetheless, Van Gaal’s decision to sub off Juan Mata, despite the Spaniard netting for the second time this term, resulted in a change of position for Rooney, who tucked in behind the front two. There’s no doubt such a scenario would prove detrimental to both Rooney and Mata, and bearing in mind the Colombian only failed to start due to jet lag, there are still many question marks surrounding United’s attack right now.

Herrera Off the Mark
Judging by yesterday’s display, the Spaniard may yet prove to be a legitimate Fantasy option for the season ahead. Herrera had been written off as a source of points due to a deep-lying role but the arrival of Daley Blind allowed him to shift to the right of the midfield diamond against the R’s and serve up a goal and assist. At just 7.3 in FPL, Herrera certainly looks worth monitoring if he can continue in the same role.

Van Gaal Moves to Four at the Back
The United boss admitted pre-match his decision to opt for a four-man defence was mainly down to injuries. With the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling sidelined and Luke Shaw fit enough only for the bench, Van Gaal was forced to field Tyler Blackett at centre-half, with Marcos Rojo covering on the left. While a second consecutive clean sheet is promising, it’s worth bearing in mind United have played against promoted opposition in those last couple of matches – with uncertainty still surrounding their first-choice personnel at the back, though, many may opt against investing in the Red Devils’ defence for now.

Spurs are playing with an interchangeable front four...Chadli Ade Eriksen and Lamela...None of themlay any further forward than the other. Avg position per game shows it well.

So not captaining Costa these last 2 weeks has seen me slip to 200k. Don't want to play my wildcard yet but feel the bulk of my team is okay. Any tips?

    Krul
    Debuchy Ivanovic Caulker
    Sterling Ramsey Fabregas Siggy
    Rooney Costa Naismith

    Elliott Marney Hutton Wisdom

1 free transfer and £2.3 in the bank

Should replacing Debuchy with Clyne or Baines be my priority or maybe take a hit to get in the likes of Sanchez, Di Maria, Pelle, Aguero? Cheers.

The only try we scored was from a kick. I thought your D nullified us very effectively. Personally I thought the ref was a little rough on your lot as well.

We will be up for it in SA. I just hope we don't try and play an open game like last season when w had to score 4 tries.

That's suicide. We need a win vs AB's to make us believe again.

                  3-0 will do.

I dunno. Pienaar is now screwed with his injury. Pienaar just not quick enough for the game we want to play.

Hougaard replaced him. He was good until he got injured a while ago. We don't have anyhting back home neither.

    Hi guys,

Would you say this is worthy of a WC?

    Krul (Foster)

    Clyne - Caulker - Terry - (Naylor - Wisdom)

    Ramsey - Hazard - Chadli - (Siggy) - Henderson

    Naismith - Rooney - Costa

    1FT, 2.6 ITB.

Do I transfer Haz -> Fab this week, and just follow my plan on getting Kun after a few weeks, or do I go total WC on my teams ass?

    All opinions appreciated.

What kind of FPL manager are you? Pro-active, or "wait-and-see"?

If someone in your team isn't scoring points, do you use a FT or take hits to remove them, even if they are playing regularly? Or do you keep thinking "maybe THIS is the week they doing something!"

Prime example... I (foolishly) started with Eriksen.

First 3 gameweeks... Zip, nada, nothing.

This week, I decided it was time, and shipped him for Sterling. Ultimately cost me 9 points!

    Anyone else have such luck?

Is it ever worth a hit/wasting a FT to remove someone who is playing regularly?

Depends on the fixture. Poor form and poor fixtures, I normally get rid.

Only worth taking a hit if the person you're bringing in reimburses you that round, imo

      This season, "Ultra Proactive."

Last 4 seasons, "No hits, wait and see."

      A bit of both 😀

This is when doing your own scouting by watching the games becomes critical. And normally if I am replacing an expensive player with another, I normally do so with the intention of captaining the one I am bringing in.

Yep I did the same with Erik

I'm definitely on the patient side generally but sterling in was an obvious transfer (bib theory hindsight aside) and the fact that my choices were mata or Erik out demonstrates I am quite patient.

I've given Mata and Rooney time - I have to be fair with Hazard. I have a feeling he will be in my team for the rest of the season, regardless.

What is a better option for the next few gameweeks:

    a) Baines & Boyd

    b) Bertrand & Chadli

    Morning chaps,

    Currently sitting with,

    Krelliot
    Cahill - Lovren - Chester ( Bertrand - Moore )
    Ramsey - Eriksen - Sterling - Siggy ( Isgrove )
    Costa - Roo - Dzeko

after already doing Debuchy out for Lovren. The question is...

    A. Dzeko > Welbeck (-4)
    B. Nothing, and play Bertrand

    ???

I normally say play the home player, but in your case, you have a heavy hitter GK with a mid range, so definitely De Gae

Had a nice week this week scoring 80 with Chester still to come, after a bad one last week. Not sure what changes to make for next gw. Save transfer?

    Krul
    Ferdinand PVA Chester
    Eriksen Fabregas Ramsey Mirallas(c) Siggurdson
    Costa Rooney

    Foster Clyne Fletcher Cahill

Maybe downgrade Cahill or Fletcher to free up some funds for next week? Cheers

I have Taylor (Swansea) and Clyne (Southampton) who play each other next GW. Would you play either of these over van Aanholt who's got Burnley away?
