i supposed even if u flood your defence with chelsea arsenal city u will not have much joy in it for the past 3 weeks..in fact the big clubs only utd keep cs for the past 2 weeks.
only southampton swans villa etc are really keeping csSwansea and Villa have players 4.5 and under, who have done well. It's about picking the right ones at the right time, and fielding the right ones. I wouldn't have thought they would have done so well, hence why I started with totally different defenders.

Yep, thing is with that budget it means you are stuck with dodgy options (Krul in goal, PvA, Wisdom etc.) and rules out Southampton who at the moment look the best options.
yeah i agree with you. inflexibility is the main issue there. and the big teams could always tighten up at the back. so far so good but who knows what will happen in a few gw time.
My plan has always been to go cheap at the back, and out all the funds into the front 7 getting all the big hitters and risers. Once the defences tighten, and I have more money to play with, I will invest more into defence.
Unless you have had players like Ivanovic, Clyne etc from the start, it doesn't look worth it to put too much in defence, considering the tight clubs (Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton etc) have all been woeful at the back, to say the least.
Not great in all honesty. I am confident with the set up I have now, the main back 3 all have good fixtures. Swansea are the in form team, they have kept CSs in half of their games so far, and the fixtures only get easier. Wilson is great value for money, I can see CSs kept there. PVA is attacking, and should get some returns. Sunderland haven't been great defensively but they have fantastic fixtures and I believe they could do well.
In my case, the players I have fielded have not done well. I have had a CS on the bench every week, I think. It's been about finding the best possible cheap defence for me, and it believe I have found it.Moore, Duff and Forster instead of Krul, Wisdom and PvA I think would look much better for similar price...obviously hard to swap them all now mind you.

I agree. I wish I had gone for Clyne on my WC giving me 3 4.0s. Would have worked out much better, but I would never have known either way.
I tried to use stats to influence my decisions, getting the best cheap BAPS magnets. Doesn't work when QPR concede 4. Sticking to form and fixtures now, and the fixtures are brilliant.
I want to reshape it, but I know whoever I remove will probably get a CS, even if the replacement does too.

I guess with a little more money being spent on defence than most - plus DDG - your problems may occur if you need three heavy hitters upfront.

Let's talk the differentials:
Mirallas - has great form, has found his scoring boots and is still very much a differential - he'll be great when Everton's fixtures clear up a little.
Larsson / A Johnson - i know they're not popular picks but these chaps are consistent and generally involved in Sunderland's attacking play.
Downing - scorned by many after a few years of lack of productivity but you can't deny his fortunes are changing, he's been bombing forward with great results this year and seems to have form and confidence back. Won't ever score the big hauls but an assist, clean sheet and occasional goal for that price are reasonable.
Coleman - we all know what he's capable of, and since returning from injury has only been travelling at 90%. Once he's completely fit again and their fixtures improve he'll be back on the radar is suspect.
Cissokho - owned by a mere 2.4% is a nailed-on 4.5 defender in a team that is somewhat renowned for defensive returns. Granted their fixtures aren't fantastic for 3-4 weeks but when they ease up this guy is bound to rack up the points. Any Villa fans advise whether he gets forward for corners or set pieces?
Ulloa - i know nothing about this guy but he's sitting pretty on less than 3% ownership and is thire highest scoring forward to date. When factoring in that Leicester have had a very tricky start to their campaign fixtures-wise this guy is the ultimate bench-fodder / 3rd forward if you want to save money to spend on the backline or on the big 4-5 in midfield. Definitely worth monitoring!!

For me, when I buy an expensive defender the first thing I look for is their potential to get cs. In that respect, CHS's lack of defensive resolve really concerns me.
To buy Ivan you are relying on him maintaining attacking returns and as previous seasons show, he'll only 2-3 goals a season. For me, that is poor value and a poor return. He could keep it going with the attacking mindset but I just don't see it.
I'd go with Bert/Clyne. I have a feeling you will need the cash to upgrade Naismith sooner rather than later.
