So you bought him back because you regret selling him before the QPR game? I don't think thats a very good reason especially in light of LVG's comments about him being lucky to even start.

I sold him because I got goggle eyed and overthought it over the international break. Moreno, FFS. What was I thinking?

LVG's comments strike me more as man management, reminding the boy to keep his head out of the clouds as there are other options.

Also, this transfer makes sense for a few reasons.

            1. Great value obviously.
            2. Frees up cash for midfield and upfront. Can basically afford any player I want now.
            3. If he does lose his place in the next few weeks, Chambers is a perfect replacement come GW8.

So part of your justification is that you 'can always transfer him out'. Do you normally make transfers with this in mind?

That he's our best and fittest CB ATM and I don't see that changing as he'll only get better while our other CBs will inevitably continue to pick up injuries?

    A) Burning transfers to fix a team (mainly budget players)

    or

    B) WC to fix the team and not use up valuable free transfers

    1. Aaron Ramessi - Straya

A - there will be a much more pressing time to use your wildcard later...

Its rather pressing at the moment with 3 budget defenders who have been dropped 😕 , can't imagine a situation where my team could be in a worse state.

hmm - but with one ft you have enough to play 3 at the back

if you also have issues in offense (if i remember correctly you brought up some) - then maybe...

Lamela, Naismith, Zaha. All are players that depreciate in value. Another blank or two and I'll be itching to get rid of them. All in all, its a wee bit of a mess and I can invisage a situation where I'm playing catchup

              • 12 Years

ah yeah, they are dangerous players to hold onto over long periods...in that case its probably best you play the wildcard - plus you seem to have thought about it and decided its a good idea to do it...important not to knee-jerk these things 🙂

Certainly isn't worth 8m in comparison to Chadlii anyway. I wanted to do that trade last week but bottled it to make transfers elsewhere. Oh well, I have Chadlii now at least.

Not bad. Di Maria looks dangerous, but I'm waiting to see if he will earn enough points.

He's likely to assist more than score and I might be preferred Ramsey over him.

    Mannone, (Myhill)
    Ivan, Clyne, Moreno, (Hutton, Wisdom)
    Sterling, Fab, ADM, Zaha (Boyd)
    Balo, Costa, Pelle

    1FT, 0.3 in the bank

    Should I:
    A) sit on it, hope Balo get's his sh*t together
    B) Ivan > Duff and Zaha > Eriksen for -4
    C) Ivan > Duff and Balo > Rooney
    D) Captain Costa
    E) Captain Costa
    F) A, D and E because really it's only taken me 4 game weeks to realize I should just put the damn C on Costa and the rest will work itself out. He's Suarez this year, automatic.

Plans in the near future to get Falcao after he gets a good run in.

I never expected Blackett to get a start in a back four when the season started. It's a testament to how good he's been. To think that Evans who's been our worst defender or Smalling who's not the best with the ball at his feet will displace him is a stretch to say the least. And then there's the very real possibility that we could go back to three at the back. I don't see much risk.

Morning dz. pretty happy with my gw. Didn't (c) costa which cost me 7 points but had a decent game week regardless. Wildcard was a success and barring no injury may just manage to save a transfer. Really want to do Naismith to Pelle the week after for qpr at home but will need to find the upgrade cash from somewhere. I guess the unexpected always happens.

He was terrible last season as well. I agree that I'd rather he be dropped. Just not sure that's what will happen. Seems to be a bit of a love in between him, LVG and Kluivert. TBH I'd like to see both dropped and Januzaj play regularly. Shouldn't be playing reserve matches, FFS.

Well I put last season down to injury a lot but u still saw glimpses of good form like champs league ht. Since that wc game there's been absolutely nothing, barely even a shot on target! Looked completely off the pace. I'm undecided whether mata deserves to be drooped, he's hardly set the world alight but his scoring record is really good. Agree januzaj deserves a chance though.

Another idea is we could all unite behind a more little known poster, if they have a good team then we in the DZ can lead by example and help them become the community champion.

    3. tm245
      • 14 Years
      11 years, 7 months ago

Can't this be crowd sourced by just using a voting system, kind of like the captain's poll?

You could have a different community member make the poll each week by offering maybe three gks, ten def, ten mids, six fwds and then the community at large could vote and select the actual squad?

Squads change though which I think is good. Previous champions actually asked the community for advice with their scout picks, thats how it should be imo. The current voting system is easy compared to polls as well.

Also with budget constraints everyone selecting a squad wouldn't work. Then things change during the week as well such as injury doubts etc. A real person managing it is the way to go really.

Activated my WC this week, how is it looking? still needs tinkering:

    Begovic, Gilks
    Clyne, Taylor, Duff, Wilson, Moore
Boyd, Di Maria, Sterling, Ramsey, Siggy
    Pelle, Aguero, Costa

£0.5m in the bank to upgrade a defender/bego/gilks?

Or would you rather have Chadli + Naismith (plus 0.8 to upgrade defence) over Boyd + Pelle?

not over forster, especially with his fixtures...plus you don't have to use all your budget, having 0.5 in the bank is always handy 🙂

that said you could do duff ---> shackell or wilson ---> bardsley, although both are probably unnecessary...

DDG might be worth it with fixtures. I'm gonna persist with Krul/Bego though. Got a CS once and been 1 goal off one the other three times which bodes well even if it is frustrating!

No need to upgrade Bego. He can play every game up to GW13 without tough fixtures apart from Spurs away in GW11.

The defense looks a little cheap but you have an awesome attack. You've picked the defenders for the "cheap-def, expensive-attack" strategy though. Looks solid.

Thoughts on this trade? --- Happy to review your teams in depth if you answer this!!! -----

    ----- Fabregas+Wisdom > Boyd+Baines (using 2FT, 0.5itb) ------

It would leave me with this team for GW5:

    Krul
    Caulker Lovren Baines(c)
    Siggy Tadic Ramsey Sterling
    Rooney Costa Naismith
    (Begovic // Chambers Clyne Boyd)

    Logic being this:
    - Would drop Fabregas at City anyways, and Baines would be my captain so worth the risk.
    - Tadic (swa QPR spurs) has better fixtures than Fab (city VIL ARS) in the next 3 (and even beyond).
    - Fab just rose so I gain 0.2 from him. My TV is at 102.1 so I can afford to get him back later even at 9.6ish if I want.
    - The move frees up cash to upgrade Naismith to another big hitter (eg. Pelle vs QPR).
    - Will use my GW6 FT on Baines>Ivanovic. Happy to take a hit on other necessary trades, but want a big def from now on.

Does this all make sense or am I crazy? 🙂 🙂 🙂

Oh and getting rid of one of my "big 5" in midfield also gets rid of a selection headache, but with good defenders on the bench I still have solid subs.

I wouldn't drop Fab…he's consistent and it's all about the long haul. He's just dishing up the assists for Costa. Caulker needs to go though, in my opinion. I dropped him 2 weeks ago, QPR'd defense is trash. I'd focus on Caulker out, Pelle in some how. Tadic doesn't interest me much, I think Siggy's points are more reliable.

        1. rickardinho
          • 11 Years

          - Caulker plays Stoke at home next. Got to remember why we picked him at the start, and this is a great fixture, after which he will be on the trading block for me.

          - Pelle would only come in to replace Rooney or Naismith, and both of those have better fixtures this GW. Looking at Pelle for GW6 or GW8 however.

          - Tadic could easily have as many points as Siggy. Should have had a penalty vs Newcastle when Long was taken down by Krul, and several other assist opportunities. QPR upcoming too.

          - I don't think Fabregas will get as much freedom against City. Watch the MNF analysis of him defensively to see that he'll be tied back more against City, if he even plays that is.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mourinho go with a midfield like this vs City, as its similar to what he did last time to good effect and won.

          Matic Mikel
          Willian Ramires Hazard

Pelle is hitting form, replace Naismith….Man U are going to start their engine so keep Rooney.

Tadic "could have" but doesn't. Wait it out.

Fab will play. If he doesn't I'll eat my shorts. Clean sheet, 90 and an assist and he continues to chug on.

You're overthinking it, Fabregas is fixture proof and Tadic hasn't proven to be a great fantasy option yet. Also don't plan transfers weeks in advance because it hardly ever works out like that.

I like to have a rough idea of what is coming up to be aware of issues I'll have with my squad ahead of time. Even if things don't work out at least I'm familiar with options ahead of time in case I need to act quickly to get early GW price rises for instance.

Injuries and stuff will always happen, but I try to have 2 strong bench players and don't mind taking a hit if things are a mess.

I've used the RMT tool and the way my team is setup Moore wouldn't play at all apart from GW7 vs Burnley. Wisdom has a good fixture (also Burnley) in GW6 so it seems a bit sideways and unnecessary. I'd rather maximize my points this GW even if it means using my 2nd FT.

The 2 FT's are what give me the freedom to get Baines in for one GW and he has a fantastic fixture. As captain it could really pay off. I could even do the reverse trade next week again if I regret it at only a -4 hit, which I'm happy to risk.

As we've all learned….just Captain Costa and the rest will fall into place. The RMT tool doesn't take into account allot of the top point getters. It's just a guideline. I bet RMT didn't predict Sterling riding the pine this weekend.

Of course. I was thinking about buying and captaining Baines even before I looked at the RMT tool (only became a member today).

And finally my best advice…don't listen to me because I still have not captained Costa yet….yikes!
