Arsenal and Tottenham were both rebuffed in their attempts to sign Southampton’s World Cup star Morgan Schneiderlin this summer and hanging on to the French midfielder has proven crucial to the Saints’ ascent under new boss Ronald Koeman.

The 10.7% of Fantasy Premier League managers who have backed Schneiderlin have seen a phenomenal return from the central midfielder, who has chalked up 29 points in his last three appearances, courtesy of a trio of goals and four bonus points.

In our next members’ article of the week, we turn to the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) tables in order to assess Schneiderlin’s progress from the previous campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.

For the unfamiliar, these KPI tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or changes in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain whether a player’s form has improved or declined. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

By comparing this season to last, we should be able to get an indication as to how he will be utilised in Koeman’s new-look side and determine whether his high points return so far could be sustainable. By also referencing the Comparison Tool and season totals, we get a better indication as to how he fared:

I dont get the Aguero love, i never have.
Only time i ever bought him in was when they were home to reading , all the forum were going on about a massacre, so felt i had to have as captain as everyone else was.

Result 1 point, and kicked him straight back out

I remember that game, it was 1-0 with Barry scoring in the last minute. 😆

If Aguero can stay fit for more than 5 games at a time you'll see what the fuss is about.

when he came back from injury last season he scored ~6 goals+4 assists in 3 GWs or something. when fully fit and city firing he's close to a must have. admit it. you're just talking about one game

At least do better than cite one blank he had a couple years ago as your reasoning as to "not getting the love" about him. If you come up with such a daft argument...er..statement, you shouldn't be surprised at this response.

I see no gameweek in the next ten where he would lead the capt poll, not when you vave Costa and Falcao about.
And can you trust him to start in an easy game? i think not

        But what do i know

His fixtures for the first half of the year all seem like hard home games and easy away ones up until Christmas where he has a bunch of amazing fixtures but due to fixture congestion he won't play them all. The 2nd half of the season though is when I'll need to get him.

Points per minute miles ahead of even Suarez, possibly PPG too but I can't remember. Even if he doesn't stay fit, you get him in, take a 1pt on the chin when he does get injured and ship him out, I reckon you're probably still much better off than those who went without.

      You trolling these days triggerlips?

Those who were on him this time last year will get it, especially if they captained him home to spurs and another team I forget, delivering close to 80 pts in back to back home fixtures.

On his day there is no better current fpl player, explosive goal and assist potential in a high scoring team. He was an fpl star 3 years ago as well when city also won the title.

Falcao had only played 30 mins in the epl, a bit early to be calling him a viable alternative.

That's your fault for avoiding his other 77 goals in 120 odd PL appearances 😆

He has the best goals/min in Premier league history for someone that has played over 10 games or something ridiculous like that.

Fair enough you don't wanna fork out 12M for him, but this post is a simple case of trying to make it look like Aguero is a bad option so nobody picks him. Typical triggerlips.

    Start

    A) Naylor or Clyne?
    B) McCarthy or Begovic?

    1. Walsh

Clyne - better chance at attacking returns, can't see either soton or swans keeping clean in that one. McCarthy.

      1. Najoman86
        • 16 Years
        11 years, 10 months ago

You'd always have Begovic as a fall-back should McCarthy not start.

Neither QPR or Stoke are plundering goals at the minute - having only scored 1 & 2 goals respectively in 4 games.

        Naylor & Begovic for mine.

Naylor and Bego for me. Have Clyne on the bench this week... mildly petrified.

  6. Jay_

Over the next few weeks my thinking is that Falcao will quickly become Uniteds top point scorer , Rooney will play deeper and AdM will be overshadowed, should this be the case I'm thinking :
Clyne Di Maria Welbeck> Chambers Chadli Falcao
    Mccarthy Bego
    Clyne Bertrand Moreno Hutton Moore
Sterling Fab Siggy Di Maria Boyd
    Welbeck Costa Aguero
+Will give me the ultimate forward line
Would remove the double saints defense
    - No Arsenal attack
    Chadli big gamble

Yeah I'm going to give it a go. I want both Siggy and Chadlii in my side so I'm happy with only 2 big mids. I can still have Ivanovic as well although its tempting to sell him and spread the funds out a bit more amongst the defence.

Ramsey -> Walcott would be the obvious route. The only big mid I would be scared of is Fabregas. Although with Ivan and Costa and some tough upcoming fixtures I think I can get away with it.

Just my opinion, but when goal scoring midfielders like Walcott, Yaya, Hazard start doing well, Fabregas will be the first to go.

I'm still not convinced about Rooney ... he'll play deep when Falcao starts and they did play QPR at home, they won't have that type of cake-walk every week.

Needs a good brace away from home to convince this little black duck. In the meanwhile I'll stick with my lazy, annoying and frustrating Balotelli pick! See you in the 7-figure ranking club 🙂

He'll play where mata play if all three big hitters start which I don't think will happen. Mata still scored from there, Wayne can get points there.

Falcao or Rooney is fine. For me Falcao is a wait and see however.

Also I think Rooney can be just as effective playing in a #10 role as he is up front. I don't think it will diminish any returns.

    Ivanovic - Clyne - Moreno - Chambers - Hutton

    start 3

    I'm thinking Ivanovic - Moreno - Chambers

(though if Chambers is out, obviously Clyne straight in)

With that defence I'd want to start 4 at the back most weeks with Hutton on the bench. Might be worth downgrading one to Duff/Moore at some point.

I'm still stuck with whether to do Balotelli > Rooney this week with my FT.

Balotelli is frustrating but, having scored last night, can score goals in the PL. I think we underestimate how defensively tight Aston Villa are right now too and they shut down Liverpool's service providers.

Rooney got the business done against QPR who are on par with Newcastle at the moment, defensive nightmare. I wouldn't expect Leicester at home to be a stroll in the park, especially considering they just beat Stoke at Stoke.

If i had to chose I'd have Rooney, however I wouldn't mind 2 FTs next week for some more long-term upgrades.

Happy to be swung either way!

    Case against costa captain

Mourinho has a history of setting up defensively against top teams. He historically has played for a point or settled for a one goal victory. Also, I do not believe that fabregas will get a 'free' role this week. He has been played as central midfielder along with matic in all the games, however he has been operating with the mindset of an attacking mid.

watch this splendid analysis by gary neville and you will see my case in point:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjP9KVWA91U

Mourinho will have recognized this and there is no way he will play the same way against the champions.

Still dont see my argument? For those who watched the chelsea - schalke game, who lost the ball in midfield leading to schalke's goal? Fabregas. He was high up with the ball, lost it and left the defence completely open.

If and when chelsea do score a goal, the bus will be parked before the ball is picked out of the net. I am saying this as a chelsea fan. I honestly cannot think of one time when Mourinho hasn't gone in to a big game defensively.

    Discuss.

Some thing has to give. Either he stops his playing style or he is moved up in to oscar's position. He was bought to play the lampard role but lampard had a defensive side to his game as well. Fab doesnt.

I can see them moving Fabregas into the hole and playing Matic and Ramires in the double pivot in front of the back 4. If this is the case the Fabregas still has points up his sleeve, if he drops deep and is more defensive then probably not. I agree that Mourinho tends to park the bus in the bigger games ... but they've not had a genuine striker of Cost'as quality for some years ... so they might go for it!

If they go for it they will be on the receiving end of a heavy score line. They went for it against everton and got lucky...everton could have scored more and city are better than everton.

I agree with you. I think Chelsea will definitely be tighter in this game.

Fab and Costa are going to be critical to Chelsea's goalscoring chances. Chelsea would play the waiting game and when they get the ball, they'll want Costa to be up there in MCI's box with Fab making those runs.

Don't think Ivan and co. will be allowed to be too adventurous in this game. Feel it'll be a 1-1 or a 1-nil to Chelsea if they score first.

Save or just downgrade Debuchy. Wouldn't mind doubling up on Southampton or Stoke.

I wouldn't. Southampton have faced some very bad attacking teams so far this season and I don't think they'll get enough CS to justify it and Stoke's CS record is awful.

Well Southampton has the least chances allowed so far, while Stoke are the 5th meanest defence in terms of chances conceded.

And in the 3 games Stoke has conceded, they only allowed 4 shots on target - Villa (1), Hull (2), Leicester (1). Could argue that they've been rather unlucky tbh.

Sorry to repost, didn't get much feedbacks.

    Please RMT:

    Ivanovic Clyne Moreno (wisdom Bruce)
    Sterling Siggy Hazard Ramsey (Elmohamady)
    Costa Rooney Naismith

Am I good to go or do you suggest a transfer?
Planing to captain Sterling too, what are your thoughts?

Demi predicting Falcao to replace Mata 😯

Highly doubt it at this stage. Rvp looks out of pace

Hardly. Mata improved in the change in formation, RVP was terrible.

So overstated. Mata can have no complaints is he's dropped.

Lvg isn't a muppet to drop Mata at this rate.

How is that overstated? Mata was a lot better than he had been, RVP continued on his poor form.

Mata was decent at best. Rooney brings more work rate to the #10 role.

              Case dismissed.

                Decent is better than terrible.

Your bias against Mata is puzzling, and quite ridiculous as a United fan.

It's puzzling because it's not bias. And RvP wasn't that much worse than Mata. Would prefer them both dropped and Januzaj given regular games though optimally.

It's puzzling because you're a United fan, yet every time I come online or look through posts about United/Mata you are there bagging him.

Can't see RVP + Falcao working either. When has a combo even similar to that worked in any league?

Well I always thought he was a daft signing. And I caught so much flack from everyone for predicting he'd be dropped that I've sort of gotten an admittedly bizarre soapbox I suppose.

And I'm not saying it will work. I'd much rather we play 433 with Januzaj or Mata wide and RVP on the bench.

I've given up trying to understand him. Haha. Mata did very well imo, brought alot to the team. Movement was great, occupied dangerous spaces, body language was completely opposite to how it's been past few games. I think he's done enough to earn a start against Leicester.

Even my mates who aren't United fans were surprised by his play. Di Maria took the plaudits but they were saying it seems like Mata is finally happy again.

You could say the same about RVP although I do agree there's more chance of Mata being dropped though.
