Here’s our regular update on the competition, featuring a look at the Matchday 1 games that took place over Gameweek 5. We also have some fun handing out some Matchday Awards and a look ahead to Matchday 2. Please use this article for all tournament chat.

Matchday 1 Results

The final Matchday 1 results have been updated in the Cup spreadsheet and we can reveal that after a hard-fought first round Australia and New Zealand top Groups A and B respectively. Congratulations to all the victorious teams and a reminder to those that lost that we still have four more games to go in the group stages.

Manager Rating on Live ScoreCast

Pratik has now launched a new feature called the Manager Rating on the Live ScoreCast Tool.

The sole criterion of this is how well the manager selected his team, which means it has no dependency on the result of the tie. The calculation involved is as below:

a) X = Calculates score of selected 11

b) Y = Calculates score of best 11 of the team

c)  Manager Rating is (X/Y)*100

So lets see who gets their team selection spot on…

Matchday 1 Awards

We have also  launched some Matchday awards to reward teams, managers, captains and players for their contributions over the week.

Louis van Gaal Award for the best attack – India with 513 goals

A Rainy Night at Britannia award for the Best defence – South Africa conceding just 454 goals

Salma Hayek Overnight Award for the player of the week – Christina (New Zealand) with 65 points

SAF Award – Saniul (Netherlands) with 97% manager rating

Jose Mourinho Award for the best press conference of the week – Ellipsis (Argentina) and Saniul (Netherlands) with +6 votes (Just a heads up – For matchday 2, currently Ellipsis is in the lead again)

Hot Urine Treatment for the highest point scorer on the bench – La Roja (Spain) with 69 points

Dalglish Differential for the worst team selection – 7 Shades of Smoke (India) with 88% manager rating

Matchday 2 Preview

Gameweek 6 will see some really crunch fixtures:

Group A

Australia vs Spain

England vs India

Malaysia vs Belgium

Group B

South Africa vs New Zealand

Germany vs Argentina

Netherlands vs South Korea

Line-up Submission

All managers are requested to email me their four substitutes and their Fantasy Premier League IDs before the deadline of Friday, 26 Sep, 2359 BST. In case he or she  fails to do so, the autosubs will be the last four players on the Squads Page.

Managers may also be likely to post any pressers on this article here. So be on the watch for latest team news, especially from your rivals. As previously, please keep all the match day banter on this thread.

Good evening Ladies and gentlemen/guten Abend mein Damen und Herren...sportsfans...Gauchos and wilkommen Deutschland to a gameweek you will want to vergessen!

Following the success last weekend against our Dutch friends (Hup Holland!!) we already find ourseleves at the business end of Match day 2 and Germany awaits us. We return back to our happy hunting grounds at the Kyocera stadium where according to the tournement officials, the last few reams of bog roll are finally being dealth with after one major clean up operation this week.

Captain Spectrum and VC Sunny have been absolute beasts in their preperations this week and have left no stein unturned in their quest to pick the ultimate team to destroy Germany.

We were rather amused to find that Germany, despite their reputation for ingenuity and "vorsprungdurchteknik", were using extremely antiquated methods of communication and had decided that the old "Enigma code" would suffice in stopping us from intercepting and unscrambling their communications.

Despite our History with the English we threw a dog a bone and they were only too happy to put us in touch with their hackers hidden in the depths of the bunkers of Bletchly park, London.
At precisely 19.13 hours they delivered...they intercepted and de-coded communications and gave us what we wanted: Germany's bench!

Immediately management sprung into action!... after throwing bog rolls around
the board room like they were going out of fashion and chugging hard on our flagons for a good hour we then decided to call in our "numbers man" Woy of the Albicelestes who ran the numbers only to reveal that we had already correctly identified our strongest XI to show them the true meaning of blitzkrieg... in terms of fantasy points at least.

Naturally we will learn from the error of their ways and the "reply all" function has been removed from all email providers in Argentina in what will be a hommage to another famous victory.

We will anounce publically our starting XI on the morrow. Until then may your flagons be full and your bog rolls fly far Gauchos!

Good luck to all this weekend!

Thank you ladies and Gentlemen for your attention!

    Mit freundlichen grussen!

    Team Argentina.

P.S...and don't worry Germany...things could be wurst! Be happy... no one likes a sauer Kraut!

BREAKING – Turmoil in Camp Korea Following Shock Loss to New Zealand!

It was just last week that Korean Manager Lee Sha-do saw his 77 game unbeaten streak versus Zep come to a crashing end. The loss at the weekend puts huge pressure on South Korea to win against the Netherlands if they're to have any shot at topping the group, making this weekend's fixture against the Oranje arguably the most important match of the season. With so much at stake, it comes as no surprise that Sha-do has changed up his training methods.

“We can’t expect the same methods that failed at New Zealand to work against The Orange,” said Sha-do. We’ve got to use new tactics so I’ve had Captain Thomass working hard to teach the new techniques to the lads that are specifaclly geared to our current opponents.”

What are these new techniques? Rather than try to explain them, Sha-do provided us with this exclusive clip of Thomass’ demonstration.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1D49hRF2_M&feature=youtu.be

“I wouldn’t want to be an Orange and have to face Thomass and his boys this weekend,” Sha-do boasted.

We asked whether Sha-do thinks these new methods alone will bring victory against the Netherlands. “Of course not by themselves. We have to integrate the new with the old. We’ve built this team on a Gangnam Style of play and we’re not about to completely abandon that style. We just need to freshen it up a bit.”

How will Sha-do freshen up the team’s Gangnam Style? “Sometimes we rely on the expertise within the organization, like Thomass and his ninja skills. But sometimes it takes outside help. Sometimes you have to seek out the best of the best.”

So what outsider will Team Korea turn to breathe new life into its Gangnam Style tactics? Once again, Sha-do provided us with a video peek.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAX7hhnRzjQ

Look out Netherlands! F___ the Orange!

Good morning one and all and guten morgen to our opponents Germany,

Following last nights presser the time has now come to reveal publically team Argentinas illustrious starting XI for this weekends showdown.

It's never an easy picking an XI and this week was no different. Captain Spectrum and Vice Captain Sunny have yet again worked tirelessly in our management sessions to ensure that we have the very best chance of picking the correct XI so huge thanks to them and to the rest of the squad who continue to work so well together. The team spirit is second to none and success again this weekend is highly anticipated.

Those left on the bench (having spent the night burning towels harvested from sun loungers) will be throwing bog rolls like there's no tomorrow in support of the XI!

    Here is the team sheet:

Leading the team out onto the pitch as he has lead all week by example behind the scenes:

    Captain Spectrum.
    Dogba (Junta VC)
    Ellipsis player manager
    Don the Special One
    Woy of the Albicelestes
    Yess The Sess
    PKB
    MrCadburys Parrot
    Wilshire Knowledge
    Henry Hill
    Djenzio

    Bench

Sunny VC (in charge of bog roll and wine supplies)
    Colonel Wasabi
    RequiemOfDream
    Valargentina

Congratulations to those in the 11 and apologies for those warming the pine this week. There's a long way to go and we will all play our part.

Kick off rapidly approaches... We wish the best of luck to everyone, May Hockey be the winner!

Update from the replay of the 2014 World Cup Final...

The Albiceleste trail the reigning World Champions by 35 points, and their hopes lie on a 4.1m priced defender from West Brom that is ironically named to be the ultimate source of their downfall...

    Argentina's Differentials

    Foster
    Krul
    Wisdomx5
    Duffx2
    Foster

    Germany's Differentials

    Shawcross
    Williamson
    Pieters

With Argentina outnumbering Diemanschaft on defenders, Germany will be cheering on 4.4m midfielder George Boyd to ruin the Argentinian pies with nasty stuff tonight.

    All the best Argie Bargies,
