Peter Crouch nets for the second successive Gameweek as Stoke rack up their first Britannia win of the season. Victor Moses is in the points again, though Newcastle’s woes continue as Alan Pardew’s strugglers fail to breach the Potters’ rearguard.

Crouch Hitting his Stride
Peter Crouch’s winner against Newcastle last night was his second strike in as many matches for the Potters. The big striker has also picked up maximum bonus points in both of those fixtures, bringing his sum for the past two Gameweeks up to 21 points in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) – a total unmatched by any other player in any position. Crouch is now another option to be added to the list of in-form budget forwards, alongside the likes of Leonardo Ulloa, Diafra Sakho and Saido Berahino, all of whom offer Wayne Rooney owners an exit strategy which would free up a large chunk of budget to be used elsewhere. Stoke may still be struggling for goals, but Crouch undoubtedly looks the likeliest to play a part in future breakthroughs after having had a hand in three of the Potters’ last four strikes, and with decent fixtures to follow (sun, SWA, sot, WHM), the 5.7-priced forward is certainly one to monitor.

Moses Stakes a Claim
The Chelsea loanee’s flourishing form continued last night, delivering his second assist in consecutive matches. As he settles into his new surrounds, Moses is becoming increasing influential on Mark Hughes’ side – a total of 46 crosses since making his debut in Gameweek 3 is bettered only by Southampton’s Dusan Tadic, and with an in-form Crouch to find in the centre, those stats have a fair chance of translating into returns for the Nigerian, who at 5.5 looks to be a great budget midfield option right now. The injury sustained by Mame Biram Diouf early on in yesterday’s meeting will remove any lingering doubts over Moses’ certainty of starts and could bring Marko Arnautovic back into the starting XI.

Stoke Defence Hold Firm
The Potters’ rearguard registered their first home clean sheet of season in last night’s victory – only their second shut-out of the campaign following their surprise win at the Etihad in Gameweek 3. Hughes opted to leave Erik Pieters out of the starting line-up in favour of Marc Muniesa – the Spaniard earned his first league start of the campaign after bagging a brace in the Capital One Cup last week, and after yesterday’s clean sheet, will be optimistic of holding on to his starting role. At 4.4, Muniesa could be a superb budget option ahead of Stoke’s aforesaid kind schedule, though Mark Wilson at 4.5 still looks the safest bet having played every minute of league action thus far.

Newcastle Attack Continues to Toil
Alan Pardew’s men are still yet to score away from home this season after last night’s 1-0 defeat, and with three of their next five on the road (swa, tot, wba) Fantasy attention is likely to stay well away from the North East for the time being. Papiss Cisse’s appearance as a half-time substitute will offer the Magpies some hope after the forward notched twice against Hull last weekend – the 5.9-priced Senegal international is clearly stepping up his fitness and could well be pushing for a start at Swansea come Saturday, though it’s fair to sat that, given their form, few, if any, Fantasy managers will be prepared to gamble on any of Pardew’s squad.

So, after last page's discussion. If we somehow manage to know D.Costa and Sterling will start next matches and you are already in the top 100K. Who would you C and VC ?

    1) Costa

Vice captain Sterling if it looks like Sturridge will play, if not Siggy.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

The Community Champion for Gameweek 7 will be...... a machine.

Greenwindmill using the RMT computer's selection within budget will be the community's representative this week. Well done.

I'll have a chat with you by email about how best to do this and get the XI over to me.

    cheers all.

To be fair, RMT is not designed as short-term one Gameweek tool. It's more a long-term planning tool. Still a guide though - I think it will do okay.

Absolutely. RMT is my favourite tool, but still requires your own judgment too.

For example: Hazard being top scorer was a reasonable assumption pre-season, we know now his new role means we have to adjust for that mistake. etc.

    Hi Guys

haven't seen pelle played the whole season yet. To which FW would you compare his style guys? Is he the major threats upfront for saints or Mane and Tadic can be good picks?

    http://www.espnfc.com/barclays-premier-league/story/2058224/diego-costa-is-barely-trainingsays-chelsea-boss-jose-mourinho

This Costa hamstring issue...is Jose overplaying it in media, as one of his mind game tactics? I've never seen a manager come out and almost every press conference confirm that his main striker's hamstring is literally on the verge of snapping in two.

    1. ALegendJ
      • 12 Years

I think it is a mixture of both. He does have a dodgy hamy. But also Mou is using it so Spain rest him which I do not see happening.

of course. we've just got our FPL hats on. Costa will definitely play if called up - he's already got some stick in Spanish media for pulling out of the last qualifier and then promptly getting a hattrick a few days later.

Just a random thought. I think Januzaj needs to go out on loan in January. Here is the issue. With no CL and no League cup there is very little opportunity for him to get any game time whilst anyone who follows the U21 league can see that he's surpassed that level and it has no benefits for him besides fitness.

Obviously we'd want him to come back, but the current situation does his development no good. If he can regualr game time for a few months it will aid him immensely and hopefully United can get back into the CL which will then afford him more game time next season.

by the looks of it, he is not a player to depend on him 90 minutes every match for ManUtd. Thus, I agree that he needs to be loaned out for his own development. But can't see that happening if LVG doesn't sign an attacking player in January

The additional problem with Rooney's replacement is captaincy. Rooney was a captaincy contender almost every week. If you take him out for someone like Welbeck, Pelle, Ulloa, Sakho, etc you are effectively removing one captaincy contender from your team. Especially in a week like this without any clear favorites, it could be tricky.

That's where Aguero would come in handy, if you had the dosh.

Either Ramsey to Tadic/Chadli/Downing/Silva for -4 or leave it until next week and do two transfers so that you can afford Ramsey to ADM.

    • 13 Years
    11 years, 10 months ago

    Begovic - McCarthy
    Clyne - Shawcross - Moreno - Ivanovic - Moore
Siggy - Di Maria - Fabregas - Sterling - Boyd
    Costa - Balotelli - Ulloa

    1 FT, 0.3m ITB.

Thinking of just holding the FT for now and downgrading a defender next week along with upgrading Balotelli or Ulloa to Sturridge/Aguero or Welbeck.

    Sounds good?

That's true. However, I don't have much money to do that - 10.2m. I would rather wait a week and be able to upgrade to a Sturridge or Aguero than go for a Pelle now.

Especially with Balo facing WBA at home.

I'm thinking about bringing in a Bayern attacker this week, and given they're in the early Kicik off i can at least see their line-up before deadline, but which of these options look best

    a) Zuffi,Sterling and Lewa

    b) Zuffi (or other mid up to 5.5), Gotze and Martinez

both options would involve selling Bellarabi

Not exactly the best with UCL, sorry.

2-tier draft league starting this Sunday night (after the games).

Both leagues are 20-team leagues. Will expand to three leagues next season. Bottom three teams in leagues relegated down. Top 3 teams in lower leagues promoted.

If interested, e-mail planeticket@mail.com and I will send you an e-mail back from my hotmail account that I don't want to post in a public forum.
