Here’s our regular update on the competition, featuring a look at the Matchday 2 games that took place over Gameweek 6. We also have some fun handing out some Matchday Awards and a look ahead to Matchday 3. Please use this article for all tournament chat.

MATCHDAY 2 RESULTS

The final Matchday 2 results have been updated in the Cup spreadsheet and we can reveal that, after a hard-fought first round, India and New Zealand top Groups A and B respectively. Congratulations to all the victorious teams and a reminder to those that lost that we still have a majority of the games to go in the group stages.

We have also  launched some Matchday awards to reward teams, managers, captains and players for their contributions over the week.

Louis van Gaal Award for the best attack – Spain with 531 goals

A Rainy Night at Britannia award for the Best defence – India and New Zealand conceding just 460 goals

Salma Hayek Overnight Award for the player of the week – Jonty (Malaysia) with 60 goals…all in vain.

SAF Award – Five managers share the award, all with a mindblowing 98% rating: Declan (Spain), Parmtree (Malaysia), Shipstontrev (Belgium), Zep (New Zealand), Ellipsis (Argentina)

Jose Mourinho Award for the best press conference of the week – Ellipsis (Argentina) with a record +13 votes

Hot Urine Treatment for the highest point scorer on the bench – Ray Allen Iverson (South Africa) with 61 goals…once again defeating the winner of the Salma Hayek Overnight award.

Dalglish Differential for the worst team selection – Lee Sha-do (Korea) with 90% manager rating

All managers are requested to email me their four substitutes and their Fantasy Premier League IDs before the deadline of Friday, 03 Oct, 2359 BST. In case he or she  fails to do so, the autosubs will be the last four players on the Squads Page.

Managers may also be likely to post any pressers on this article here. So be on the watch for latest team news, especially from your rivals. As previously, please keep all the match day banter on this thread.

            A very good morning to you all ladies and Gentlemen!

            What a weekend...what a night! Despite furious hangovers it's all smiles in the Argentinian camp after what will go down as a famous victory in our "Walk in the park" against favourites New Zealand.

            Even before our friendly defeat against India we were labelled by some as underdogs and written off. We then shocked many by beating Holland. We were then terribly unfortunate and disappointed in our ever so narrow defeat at the hands of the Germans last time out. However we never doubted ourselves and our togetherness, inspirational team spirit and self belief never wavered as we came from behind at the weekend and sent out a message to the whole community yesterday: "Never write us off"!

            It was the tightest of games that went right down to the wire. We genuinely didn't know for some time what the outcome was going to be. As we headed into the closing moments our bench ran out of bog roll!... bog brushes and loo roll holders were flung frantically onto the field! Their support was truly commendable.

            If I were in a position to choose I would make our Captain "walk in the park" Spectrum man of the match but as VC "walk in the park" Sunny rightly pointed out we had 15 men of the match! Both were once again superb in their preparations this week. Had the game gone to a tie (which at one point late on looked a real possibility) Captain "Walk in the Park" Spectrum always had the tie break covered!

            It was he who in management discussions, convinced me to transfer in Tomkins which proved to be the final nail in the coffin with points waiting on the bench. An inspired call!

            We hope New Zealand can recover from this defeat. In order to help them cope with it by means as a good will gesture we have given grief stricken Billy Gilmore a push bike so he will never ever again have to feel the chill running down his spine when faced with a walk in the park. From now on you can either jog on or get on your bike! Happy cycling Billy!

            Well done to all the victors this weekend and commiserations to all those teams that were unlucky in defeat. Group B is looking like a pool of death right now but we plan to rise to the top! Following this famous scalping we now all have lovely woollen fleeces to wear to befit our tag of "wolves dressed in sheep skin"... Ladies and gentlemen, never ever write us off!

            We now have the appetite of rabid dogs so in a cruel and ironic twist of fate it will be us taking a bite out of the Koreans in the next round! Bring it on!!!!

              An extremely poorly timed technical disaster on Friday evening meant we missed the deadline this week. However, despite this attempted sabotage from Sky, Australia come through Matchday 3 victorious, and are in a good position to get through the group. Apologies to the team for this but I have been assured everything is firmly corrected now.

                    anyone think it would be better, as Gabrielle MArcotti has suggested , that league seasons finish in april and all the international qualifiers are played then on a weekly basis afterwards, maybe play two a week?. I think it would bring back some excitement to international football which has now become really stale and put a stop to all this club v country gamesmanship

                                  New account to replace my old account which was my new account to replace my old account which was my broken account, my broken account will soon be no more and this will be my old account. Still keeping up?
                                  So this account will look like my old old account but isn't but will be soon when I get my old account linked to my new account. Once that happens this will be my only account, well except the other account that I have but no longer use.
