As the minutes tick down until the Gameweek 8 deadline, we turn our attentions to a trio of overlooked options for your perusal. Everton and Arsenal both have excellent schedules that could elevate a couple of our selections up the Fantasy standings, whilst City’s budget midfielder has the chance to impress us further.

James Milner

A groin injury to Samir Nasri has afforded the midfielder a chance to nail down a berth in the City XI in recent weeks. With the Frenchman sidelined, Milner has played from start to finish in each of the last four and created 16 goal scoring opportunities over that period – more than team-mate David Silva’s 14 and joint-top in the Premier League.

Milner has subsequently earned a pair of assists from Gameweek 4-7 and his hard-working style of play, whilst perhaps not as easy on the eye as the much-lauded Silva’s, has, nonetheless, helped him collect four bonus points in recent matches.

The England international’s displays have ensured Jesus Navas has been reduced to second-half sub appearances and, for now, he looks in the driving seat to continue on the right as the champions gear up for an excellent run of fixtures. A home clash with Spurs precedes showdowns with the likes of West Ham, QPR and Swansea in the subsequent four and offers Milner, at just 5.3, the chance to deliver the goods once again.

Santi Cazorla

Granted, the Spaniard has turned in some anonymous displays for Arsenal this term but the absence of Mesut Ozil could finally allow him the platform to impress. It’s easy to forget that, back in his debut season at the Emirates, Cazorla racked up 205 points in the FPL game after arriving from Malaga in the summer of 2012.

Arsenal’s upcoming schedule is sure to tempt many Fantasy managers but with Alexis Sanchez a little pricey at 10.3, Cazorla’s 8.2 price tag could persuade some to take a flutter. Sitting in just 1% of FPL sides, the playmaker now has Hull, Sunderland, Burnley, Swansea and West Brom in the next six to weave his magic and with the pace of Sanchez and Danny Welbeck soon to be joined by Theo Walcott, Cazorla’s eye for a killer pass could be key to steering the Gunners’ title back on track.

Romelu Lukaku

It’s been a sluggish start to Roberto Martinez’ second season in charge of Everton. After seven rounds of fixtures, the Toffees sit in seventh spot – just two points off the bottom of the table – but the upcoming schedule could barely be kinder to their prospects.

Over the next nine Gameweeks, Everton welcome Villa, Swansea, West Ham, Hull and QPR to Goodison and also make their way to Burnley and Sunderland – given that they’ve scored in every match so far, visits to Spurs and City won’t hold too much fear, either.

As the only attacker to start every league match so far for the Merseysiders, Lukaku will be licking his lips over that run of fixtures. After blanking in the first three, he’s netted twice in the last four and is slowly beginning to show signs of the performances that plundered 32 goals and 16 assists in his last two Premier League campaigns. Currently owned by just 9% of FPL managers, the big Belgian looks well-placed to produce and may well find his way onto many a Watchlist before too long.

FYI....... The Telegraph haven't gone all out on the Costa injury in this morning's paper.

They have dedicated a small box within the Sturridge injury article and say Chelsea "fear he may be out for three weeks."

The likes of Sturridge, Herrera and Delph all have more column inches dedicated to their fitness issues.

They include Remy in their predicted line ups and list Costa as one for a fitness test in the team news section.

Any one else getting Diego vue?
Isn't Costa a doubt every single weekend?
I've been tricked by this one before, rested him when he smacked a hat-trick and pushed the arm-band on Sterling, still trying to catch up on those points.
He's in my starting line up and playing. Just trying to decide between Chadli or Henderson now vs QPR, I suspect that Balo will have one good day soon and Liverpool will give someone a spanking, Harry's mob look most likely recipients.

        Wey - Hey!!! 😀

"'Twas the 29th of August, 2014,
In predicted Chelsea lineups, Costa was nowhere to be seen.
He's injured, they said, kick him out the door,
So, I did just that, for Emmanuel Adebayor.

My confidence was high, for Liverpool could not defend,
And the Togolese striker scored a goal, just the last weekend.
Diego himself was also playing, a team from Merseyside
However, long story short, the fantasy gods were not on my side.

As a Chelsea fan, I should've been ecstatic with our start,
After a Costa goal in the first minute... I didn't feel smart.
I watched in discomfort, as more chances fell his way,
I sat back and pleaded "Sub him off Mou, that's enough for today!"

Another goal later, I was sad, I was down,
I stared at the TV, I felt like a clown.
Spurs played the next day, losing 3-0 to Pool,
I looked at my team, Ade grinned at me like a fool.

I was ranked 249th, and spent hours planning my team everyday,
But two weeks after selling Costa, I was out of the top 100k.
One thing I learnt from this, was selling DC is not the way,
I know he may be injured, but he may also be okay.

So, sell at your peril, good luck if you do,
I won't try change your mind, the decision's up to you.
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to sound mean,
But have fun being trolled, by Chelsea's number 19."

I have no desire to see Liverpool give anyone a spanking to be honest (I'm a long suffering blue) and I thought from the off that Balotelli was a disastrous signing (I actually cheered that one), but he will come good and look top draw in one or two games he always does, something in my water suggests it'll be this weekend.

Form is not just a matter of confidence - it is a matter of precision, and where he plays.

At the moment, his skills are being used to shore up the team. I have him, and am benching him.

If there is a slightest of chance I think costa will play. Because chelsea have only maribor to play in next Wednesday which they ca negotiate with remy easily.

    1. ADM
    2. Costa
    3. Sterling
    3. Pelle
    4. Welbo

    Yay or Yay

ok, no doubt asked a lot but I gotta get up & head into work ina sec...

Captain & VC: at present on Costa (C) & Welbz (VC), good to go or capt Welbz with Sterling (VC) for fear Jose wants to prove a point & lets Costa out

Who would everyone have on wildcard? Is it stupid not to go with Sterling and go Cazorla instead? Especially with Liv v. QPR

I'm trying to do Wilson > Bertrand but I need to save 0.6m in another area.

    Should I:

    A) Sterling > Cazorla

    OR

    B) Ulloa > Naismith?

I see Wilson as dead wood at the moment so desperate to get rid

Quick question, haven't kept myself updated on fpl this last week so would appreciate your opinions.
I have Costa, Aguero, Adm and Ulloa and need to pick a captain and vice captain. Currently on Costa (c) and Aguero (V) but am thinking about choosing Adm as V. Thanks!

    Costa Dzeko Pelle

3m itb, 1 FT. Dzeko > Cisse/Falcao/Wrlbeck or save FT? Or fetter option?

Get the boring defender that you will need. Craig Dawson. Neil Taylor. Azpilicueta.

Certainly not. I am suggesting that you look around your defence, and tidy it up.
