After the best Gameweek tally in living memory, I reserve the right for a bit of a gloat. Having risked the Wildcard back in Gameweek 7, the stars aligned and everything fell into place last weekend, leaving my ScoutCast co-host, grumpy Granville, grabbing at straws and smashing TV sets in frustration.

After last season’s defeat, I revel in my moment of glory but still find time to lock horns with Granville over the great Costa debate. Is Jose playing with our minds? I certainly think so but, as Granville points out, I reckon the Lunar landings were fake. I love a good conspiracy, me.

Congratulate yourself via this link or bask in smugness via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hey lads, team is;

    Vito | Krul
    Cahil | Berty | Duff | Dummett | Yoshi
    Cesc | Schneiderlin | Siggy | Sterling | 4.5
    Costa | Kun | Naismisth

    2 FT, 3.2 ITB

    Would yo do:

    a. Yoshi, Costa > Baines, Pelle
    b. Yoshi, Cahill, Costa > Baines, Chambers, Pelle
    c. Yoshi, Costa, Nais > Baines, Pelle, Welbeck
    d. Yoshi, Cahill, Costa > Coleman, Wisdom, Pelle
    e. other

a or b: I could do Pelle > Costa next week for free; but I'd still have Naismith
with d: I could do Naismith > Costa for free

Like 10 goals in a season or something? it would surely be unprecedented for a fullback to get so many goals. Last season would be hard for him to beat I imagine however I think he will do just as well.

Is Downing your fifth mid? If so, it's a no-brainer.

Everton play only 1 team from last years top
        4 from now till January!

        1. rickardinho
          • 11 Years

Yeah he is. I've got 2.1itb but just took a hit to do Lovren>Baines and Costa>Aguero.

Was considering Taylor>Coleman even with Taylor's fixture, until I got Aguero.

My most pressing need is to find a midfielder-combo that can help me avoid Siggy's poor fixtures. Was hoping Milner could be that guy (for Downing) as it would work perfectly price-wise, but Nasri is back soon...

          I'll be choosing between Taylor>Coleman (plus a -4 move to find 0.2) or a straight Siggy>Oscar move.

          1. Think Tank
            • 12 Years

Downing to Boyd, And then Siggy to Chadli?

I haven't looked at Oscar much tbh, could be a good shout.

I do think that money tied up in fifth mids are wasted. unless you keep Downing and dump Siggy next week? Lots of choices!

        2. rickardinho
          • 11 Years

But on the flip side, I think Downing at 5.6 is fantastic value the way he and WHM are playing right now.... If only there was a 6.0-6.2 mid I could swap Siggy for! (Hendo maybe?)

          1. Think Tank
            • 12 Years
            11 years, 5 months ago

If you want to keep Diwning then Siggy to Boyd as your fifth mid would work.

Only problem is swapping out Downing at a later date if he goes off the boil or gets injured. Diame perhaps? There's not a lot in that price range.

So i'm probably gonna sell Costa. Best replacement for me? BANK = £0.5m, 1 FT:

    Begovic(sou)
    Clyne(STK) Baines(bur) C.Dawson(CRY)
    Mane(STK) Di Maria(CHE) Sterling(HUL) Sigurdsson(LEI)
    Pelle(STK) Aguero(whu) Costa(mun)

subs - McCarthy, Taylor, Moore, Boyd

    a) Lukaku - I fancy Everton to score at least 3 on Sunday so he may well be among the goals again
    b) Berahino - On form, on penalties and gives me plenty of flexibility for next week (Siggy > Hazard/Fabregas for example)
    c) Welbeck - Plays for the best team outta these lot, good value for money and i have no Arsenal players
    d) Benteke - We all know he's quality but it's still a punt. Penalties are nice though 😉
    e) Bony - Penalties again! But i already have Siggy

Since I'm so undecided on who to get rid of for Eriksen, I've come up with another transfer:

Costa, Mutch, Ulloa out, Aguero, Berahino and....ugh...Obertan....or if someone can recommend a cheap mid for 4.8. This way I don't have to make the tough decision of picking Hazard, Di Maria or Sterling to get rid of.

Fixtures mainly. Tadic especially is gonna be one of the top 2-3 scoring mids this season, and is a must-have at 7.5m imo. I think the value sub-9.5m in midfield is much better than higher up. The only way I would justify getting ADM was if you got him at 9.5.

Can't see how, let alone it being an easy choice. If AdM is fit (most likely) you should stick.
I'd rid of Sterling out of those, though it's not an easy choice either since he might play OoP.

Can someone explain why Siggy is still considered so un-tradeable?

4 blanks and only 2 assists (against NEW) in his last 5 league games, and tough fixtures on the horizon after LEI.

Yes, he does have 48 points which is impressive, and yes he is central to most attacks, but he hardly ever gets in the box anymore, isn't on penalties, and most of his performance stats have been getting significantly worse recently despite the two assists.

Last time out at Stoke he was very bright in the opening 10 minutes, getting through 1v1 (but missing) and setting up Ki for a sitter, but after that he was largely anonymous.

With other options like Chadli, Tadic, Downing, Henderson, Barkley, and Oscar all scoring well at the moment is it time to look at him as the expendable template-mid?

I'm considering a trade to Chadli, but that's because of their respective upcoming fixtures, and the fact that I think he's the only player in the same price range who comes close to his potential for consistent attacking returns. He has complete dominance of set pieces, is the team's go to guy for a killer pass in the final third, and also has a cracking shot on him.

Tadic and Oscar are signficant upgrades. Barkley and Henderson are good players, but Siggy has set pieces on them, and personally, I think he's better in the final third than either, though they could improve. his importance to his team Downing is another good set piece taker, probably a better crosser of the ball, but doesn't come close to Siggy in front of goal - they may not get many chances, but I'd back Siggy to put his away over Downing any day.

Good reply mate. Tbh the only ones I'm seriously considering are Chadli and Oscar. I need to find 0.2 from somewhere though so I can get Coleman for Taylor next week though!

Oscar and Coleman both look great under the radar options. Hard to fit them in, though...

"Breaking from the Telegraph: Diego Costa is now in limbo for this weekend's clash with Manchester United. The Chelsea striker's mystery illness led doctors to do a number of tests while hospitalized. And to the bemusement of all it was revealed that he is in fact a caveman, over six thousand years old. #cfc"

still chadli until proven otherwise. things like eriksen being such a good player simply help chadli if anything.
one thing which is never mentioned is eriksen has actually lost half his set-pieces from last season with lamela getting in the team

        Chadli - higher ppg, cheaper.

Eriksen is catching form & when he's scored, he netted the full BPS each time. Chadli still hasn't netted the max BPS when he's played well. Though yes, the latter has higher PPG.

Don't doubt Eriksen's form though, when he's on, he's on

Ok which route, if Costa is out?

    Play
    A. Fabregas & Boyd or
    B. Eriksen & Welbeck

    B. Costs me a -4 next week to bring back Costa!

    Baines, Coleman, Clyne (4.0, 4.0)

Yeah that could work. I was having a tinker at WC drafts earlier, pretty tempting to get in Baines, Sanchez, Hazard and Pelle (none of whom I have) now, but don't think it's worth it overall. I also like the idea of a Coleman/Baines double up - also a reasonable way to get Costa back without compromising midfield big hitters when the time comes - downgrade one to another of Hutton/Wisdom/Moore/Duff etc, and do Pelle > Costa.
