There was just a wafer-thin point separating myself and Granville in Gameweek 11, despite my rivals decision to ignore the force of nature that is Alexis Sanchez.

In a svelte but packed episode of the ScoutCast, my co-host and I discuss the Chilean’s “essential” charms and pile praise on the reborn Stewart Downing and the new, reliable Leighton Baines v2.

Around the usual regulars, we drop in on some old favourites, as Aleks Kolarov discovers new methods of running Granville’s Gameweek and I somehow manufacture a way of snuggling under the Van Persie duvet. We also carry on nudging the Harry Kane-wagon, run our teams through the Gargatron computer and go on “Warnock Watch” once more.

Squeeze into this episode out via this link or sample its tautness via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ah sorry didnt notice the 0FT. Yeesh you have it rough. Probably worth it still if Lukaku benched and Moreno up against Chelsea. but hard to take an 8pointer alright

Aguero is never going to be particularly highly owned, is he? I mean he's about to hit 12.7m and still only has 25% ownership which is relatively low given the likes of Costa and Cesc have well over twice that.

Basically, he'll soon be too expensive for anyone who doesn't already own him, no?

    1. 420king

nah, you can always downgrade something if you really want him

Good point. But at that prive he will pretty much have to be 'essential' for people to need to get him

RvP was once 14m and still had buyers. If Aguero continues to prove himself, the 12.7m price tag will look cheaper to non-owners.

That's alright, would just mean they need to sacrifice another big hitter to accomodate him

It's just a matter of time before his next hat trick and he gains another 10% ownership. He's too good.

I was one of those people who kept telling themselves that Aguero wasn't necessary, at least not whilst Costa was outscoring him. Then he scored 4 against Spurs and that all changed! Thankfully for some that was in the same week that Tadic exploded which softened the blow though, but having Aguero in my team lets me watch scores without hiding behind the bookcase!

There was an interesting article, in the guardian I think, about his new training regime - he seems to have a lot more capacity than last season. I think he'll start

Nah he'll start. People seem to think he gets rested a bit, but when fit, he usually plays regardless. He even plays all the hectic scheduled games round xmas

He hasn't been wrapped up in cotton wool since the start of the season.

Pellegrini has stated last season Kun was suffering with niggling injuries all season and this season he is completely injury free.

Gumpf. Of course he will start!! They are in dire need of a win, playing terribly and Pellegrini will be starting to feel pressure. Leaving your best player out and potentially opening yourself up to defeat by one of the teams that should go down would be disastrous.

I wrote a post a few weeks back that got around +25 votes on his schedule... One of the things I highlighted was the fact that he only has one international game during the break, and that is about 10 days after the qpr game, so there's no reason why he shouldn't play. QPR have also been good recently while City have been atrocious, so Pellegrini will have to play him.

Seriously considering starting Wanyama ahead of Eriksen this week as i think Eriksen may be benched and only play a cameo role. Sound logic?

I read a post by Lucy, resident Saints fan, saying essentially "Don't buy Wanyama, he won't score again and Cork will play in easy home games." She did qualify saying Wanyama may now start based on current form, but a Wanyama start is surely not a certainty.

She has been bashing Wanyama since preseason. I agree it is folly to buy him as he is just a CDM but it is madness to think that he would be benched right now given his form and I'm sticking with it.

So, I'd say it's fine to double up, West Ham are doing great, and they both keep on racking up the points. I do not know whether or not Carroll aproaching match fitness would affect this set up though, but seeing as he's been delivering weekly, I'd imagine he's safe.

North of Scotland is beautiful... did a 4 day road trip up there from London a couple of summers ago... through Edinburgh, Nairn, Ullapool, Durness (at the very north!), then down through Fort Augustus and Inverness 🙂

Gotta say its absolutely stunning scenery up there. The beaches and cliffs near Durness could might as well be in the Caribean (apart from the freezing water.. which i swam in... for 4.5 seconds!) 🙂

thats insane... I'm at 42% right now, which is the highest its been all season. Still only 26 points behind 5k, but damn I've missed out on so many points!

So depressing to see this too:

      Total captain score 108
Captain score if you had swapped all C / VC 106

My VC has so often scored better than my Captain 🙁

          • 11 Years
          11 years, 8 months ago

          Thats hardly experimental!

I captained Tadic in GW5 or GW6 iirc for 6 points, but have otherwise stuck to fairly standard choices of Costa, Rooney, Aguero... which makes it all the more depressing that I've maxed out at Aguero's 8 point captain haul...

Well it got me 1pt while Costa scored 17pts! There have been others as well.

To be fair, not having Costa and Aguero probably is an advantage in that metric because a) You're able to avoid herd mentality even if there's a better option and b) if you didn't pick Aguero/Costa for their hattricks it doesn't harm your optimal captain percentage.

      That said, well done sir!!!

48.51% for me. Honestly, I've picked the wrong captain every week except for the week Aguero got 19. I think that haul and Rooney's 10 (when Costa got 17) are my only double figure captain hauls.

a madman indeed.. swansea's home record is fairly decent against an under par arsenal team right now. i can see swansea scoring, so that's my reasoning for benching chambers and welbeck is in poor form with sanchez hogging the limelight.

ivanovic is a tough one, my reasoning behind that one is because last time you guys told me to start him he got me a red card, up against a liverpool team in poor form but in need of a bounce back and have a hunch that they'll put up a fight against a leaky chelsea defence..

resonable enough, or should i start taking me meds again..? 😛

              • 11 Years

Chelsea usually tighten up in this type of game.. the lone exception being Everton 6-3 earlier in the season (when ivanovic scored and assisted i think)

Welbeck's pace should be handy against Swansea away from home...

              1. theBoose

                11 years, 8 months ago

true true.. i guess the main question is will the percentage of ivanovic's attacking returns be more than duff's chances of clean sheet returns..?

swansea's defence are no slouches either..it is at the liberty with the swans keeping 3 clean sheets out of 5 there.

both are tempting me, but my gut has the upper edge at the moment 😛

            2. ALegendJ

it seem like you've taken the Blue pill instead of the red one 😉 well, you do make sense. Chambers is fine to bench. But my rationale for the opinion I have given you is, Should Ivanovic concede, there's a potential for attacking return, which is very low potential in Duff's case.

Welbeck is the sole forward for Arsenal, while Schneiderlin is a CM at Southampton, chances are Welbeck will be more involved in scoring than the other guy.

It is merely and opinion, if your gut says otherwise, go for it. "us guys" offer pure opinion, final call is yours, it is YOUR team after all. Best of luck, and may your arrow be green

haha, i may have indeed done so.

as i said above in reply to rickardinho though..will the percentage of ivanovic's attacking returns be more than duff's chances of clean sheet returns..?

your point to play welbeck over schneiderlin has value to it..might actually change that one know.

yes yes, i'm just a bitter fantasy player. cheers for the help and may your arrow be full of green also.

Perhaps its cos Im an Arsenal fan unfortunately but I do think the Gunners are going to keep a clean sheet against a Swansea side who are struggling a bit to score.

Suppose Arteta being out makes them a bit more vulnerable tho.

My other concern is looking at Di Maria & Sakho's GW 12 fixtures that it might just be best to wait 2 weeks. Depending on form I could then WC at GW 13 to get them in just as Soton, Stoke & Spur's fixtures take a turn.

    Play one:
