We go head-to-head with Paddy once again this morning as the festive schedule now picks up pace. Our faith is placed in a couple of midfield differentials who are starting to find their 2013/14 form, whilst QPR’s main man up front is also called upon as Harry Redknapp’s side entertain fellow strugglers Leicester.

Our first stop is at Loftus Road, then, where two of the bottom three go head-to-head. Having struck three times in his previous two home encounters, Charlie Austin is clearly vital to the hosts’ prospects in the final third, whilst at the back, hopes are high of defensive returns given that the Foxes have failed to score in their last five. Paddy are offering 33/1 on Austin to score at least twice and the R’s to grab a clean sheet and we’ll stick our necks out and make this our bet of the week, handing over £4 for this one.

Next up, our thoughts turn towards the summit as second-placed Southampton welcome City to St Mary’s. Given that the home side have conceded just once this season, this one is far from easy for the champions but we’re backing Yaya Toure to continue the form that saw him score against Swansea in last week’s comeback win. City’s tails will be up after defeating Bayern in midweek and with Paddy prepared to offer 14/1 on Toure to score and City to earn a clean sheet, we’ll take a punt and throw another £3 their way.

Our final bet is saved for Sunday’s encounter at the Lane, as Spurs square up to Everton. Christian Eriksen’s importance to the Tottenham cause was underlined last weekend as the Dane produced a goal and assist in a comeback win at Hull and he’ll be looking to do the same against the Toffees. Paddy are offering 12/1 on Eriksen to score and the home side to grab a clean sheet and we’re going to back Mauricio Pochettino’s side to the tune of our final £3.

    Heaton

    Clyne Bertrand Naylor Yun

    Sanchez Hazard Siggy

    Aguero Rooney Berahino

    Foster Downing Boyd Moore

    Cheers in advance.

Definitely start Downing over one of the Southampton backs.

Downing iffy coming back from the injury, West Ham sputtering and Newcastle defending well.

City poor away from home. Clyne and Berty both great attacking potential against a poor City defense.

City are poor all over the place but this guy though: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kun-aguero/leistungsdaten/spieler/26399

City are playing poor for some time now, that doesn’t stop Aguero from scoring.

Hey guys, really need some help tonight. My team as it stands has 4 flagged players (*):

    Forster (Heaton)

    Baines*, Chambers, Clyne (Konchesky, Duff**)

    Sanchez, Chaldi*, Barkley, Siggurdson (Downing*)

    Austin (C), Kun, Costa

Now I think Chadli and Downing will play, but Baines is my main concern. Got him at 6.9 and could swap for Ivan or something, but will always want him back. Thoughts, any at all, would be extremely welcome.

It's like people who play Elliot over Krul (before this week obviously), as it's more likely that Krul will get a red card than get injured after 60 mins with a CS, and therefore has a (very, very slightly) higher potential than playing Krul.

Although I'm sure the main reason they do it is to annoy their ML rivals with autosub points.

It's basically saying that if you should play McCarthy over Foster on the off-chance that he starts but it predicts 0.21 because that's very unlikely.

I'm guessing that factors in the possibility of him replacing an injured Green for a 1 pt cameo, but I wouldn't like to risk it...

    Brady-Jedinak rotation:
utd/swa, AVL, WBA, STK, SWA, sun, LEI/qpr, avl, wba
Not bad. Next week Tiote to Jedinak then 🙂

Don't think midfielder rotation has ever worked. Believe me you're not the first to try it and you won't be the last either.

I am one of the examples of when it has worked 😉

Rotated and avoided blanks from Fabregas, Siggy x2, Tadic, Oscar, Downing, Naismith, Ulloa, etc, to great effect. Rotation can work, though admittedly there is an element of luck to it. Play the probabilities and stats right and you'll improve your chances though

They are imo. Wont be correctly predicted everytime and it does involve luck but if we see few defense play, they dont make clean tackles, so chances of pens are higher in those games 🙂

you really want to have 2 cheapie mids with all that quality there, with downing, siggy, chadli, etc..

      1. Holmes

Tv is low, have to compromise somewhere 🙂 It also gives me:
        Baines, Coleman, Clyne
        Sanchez, Maria, Sigurdsson
        Aguero, Rooney
Plus I would be more confident to play Jedinak every week then Chadli

If your TV is low you shouldn't be sticking so much money in defense. Certainly worth upgrading one of the two cheap mids rather than have a massive defense imo

    A) Caulker + Boyd (benching Boyd every week) + 0.2itb

    OR:

    B) Yun + Bolasie (alternating Bolasie with Austin every GW: LEI AVL BUR STO WBA SOT CPL avl bur bur sto lei)

    1. Rolls-Royce

      A) defo.
You can also rotate Caulker with your other def. Rotating Austin may well backfire.

        • 11 Years

Yeah I'm gonna rotate Caulker with Kelly, their fixtures lineup stupendously well.

Rotating Austin could work nicely though, especially given that his away fixtures clash with Fabianski and Baines, and Bolasie(SOT) could cover for Downing(che) too.

        Something to consider.

All Caulker needs to repay the 0.8 is 1 goal, and he gets 4 cracks at 4 of the worst set-piece defending teams in the league, all at home. What's not to like about that?

    Forster (Foster)

    Baines, Chambers, Taylor (Duff, Clyne)

    Sanchez, Fabregas, Barkley, Siggurdson (Boyd)

    Sakho, Pelle, Costa (C)

2 FT, 2.7 k banked. Pretty sure I want Kun from next week.
Forster & Clyne > Heaton & Yun/Blackett, with Pelle > Kun next week.

Thoughts all? Is it wise to transfer out the leagues highest scoring defender (Clyne) to fund the move; I know the fixtures are looking dire, but it feels odd.
