Today, we bring you the draw for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for the competition took place over Gameweek 13 at the weekend.

First of all, entrants with a score of 44 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X. If you scored 44 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed. As usual, then, the standard was very high – just ask Mark – he’s been knocked out in qualifying with 41 points.

While Mark fell at the first hurdle, Granville’s lineup progressed and he’ll face juramentardo in the opening round, which takes place this weekend. Mark does, however, live on through his combination ScoutCast team with Granville – that lineup made it through with an impressive 62 points and will face off against Clueless XI in this round – a suitable opponent.

Our reigning champion, Gribude is, of course, one of the former winners who earns a bye to the first round and he’ll face deporhostia in the opening round as he bids to become our first to successfully defend their crown. Others taking on former cup champions include confundido who takes on some chap called Jonty, while AmberGamer who faces ex-champ donnellyC.

There are no less than 14 top 100 managers in draw, including the current FPL world number one rayvas – definitely a name to avoid should he make it past pkilleen in this first round.

Other eye-catching encounters are Laurel Hill‘s tough tie against Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league leader Tinkerman, who is currently 270th overall, our moderator Greenwindmill’s battle against Canary Wharf, and Cobblersnz’s match up with our team news man Demi.

There are also some notable match ups between well known community members with Sporting facing Davysteen and  4Vets against 1966 was a great year…

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action but for those that missed out this time, there is some good news as we  aim to run another Cup competition from March next year.

In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Really...I wasn't on. It makes sense in a lot of ways. With City's great run of fixtures and a possible return for Wally (finally?)..that 2 mill is a big chunk of dosh. He'll never be a bad pick but is he eleven mills worth ?

Not sure. That clodhopper Giroud kept on and on getting in his way. It was quite comical, unless you owned him.

He's a strange one that Giroud...Loathe him or loathe him he still manages to get a few goals in the end.

He is Nolanesque. Shin a few, bum a few, and every so often he makes contact with his boot, just to keep us on our toes.

              I do loathe him.

Also the fact that 80% of teams in the upper reaches have him...It's always worth considering the gamble, even if it doesn't pay off. Just because Sanchez scores a goal doesn't mean Silva doesn't..or Wally..or Yaya etc...

Talk of ditching starts almost as soon as talk of buying (I can't talk as I bought and sold Rooney in the same GW!) I've had Sanchez from the very start and I'm not planning on ditching any time soon.

If he blanks tonight, that would be 3 in a row and with City's turn in fixtures it may be profitable.

the standards on here that players must reach each week are massively unrealistic. There are rumblings if a player hasnt 2 goals by half time. Sanchez for me has been the best midfielder in the league this season, arguably the best player. one of maybe 3 world class players the premiership has.

For those considering yaya, what are your thoughts on Silva's impact on his returns?

Interesting to run a comparison of his stats without Silva (gw 9-13) and with (1-7). Quite a large difference.

      I did that.
Goal threat largely the same, but assist potential big drop with Silva on the pitch.

I agree, already bought Yaya in - largely based on his form and fixtures. Assists may take a hit but his goal threat shouldn't change.

Without looking at stats my first notion is that when Silva is out they have so much trouble keeping possession in the center of the park and through the middle they need YYT to push up a bit more in the final third to help link play and keep possession otherwise they are always just attacking down the flanks.

But as Doos says, he was terribly out of form and he always arrives at the edge of the box whenever they have someone driving down the flank ready for a shot. He was off form and getting it all wrong early on but now he's starting to bury some of those. He's re-emerging as a good option I think.

Indeed. But I'm not counting on him having another 30%+ conversion season. If he does I'll admit he's the greatest player of all time.

Don't let it blind you. You don't have to keep him for the season - he's clearly finding form with good fixtures in December. He's a good pick 🙂

Having been seriously trolled by Eriksen (started with him, sold before Saints home + City away, scored twice, bought back, subbed twice at half time, sold him again, scored again etc...), and numerous red arrows, maybe at last my luck is changing!!

Last week very nearly acquired ADM and Krul for Sterling and Lloris, decided to wait, both got injured! Sold Lloris this week for Fabianski - nice cleanie last night. Almost used 2nd FT on Costa>Rooney, resisted, lo and behold Rooney didn't play and Georgey boy scored!

Just need an Aguero(c) brace tonight and I'm seemingly getting back on track!

fixtures coming up strong bench might be handy

    Pantilimon / Foster

There's only, what, 7 games until WC? 3 of those are:

Not sure it's worth it unless you have 2 FT

Need some advice on this, I think my main priority is getting rid of Ayoze and somehow working Costa back in!

    Fabianski
    Azpilicueta Baines Hutton
    Fábregas Cazorla Sigurdsson Sánchez
    Ayoze Lukaku Agüero

    Subs: Green Dummett NTaylor Marney

No, just the one. A little concerned by MCI away for both Coleman and Baines. Always had this as the week to hide behind the sofa and take a potential low gw score in the chin.

Precisely. Of course at City is not ideal but it could be an open game and it's not as if City defending is tip top there can be attacking returns to have from it. The rest of their fixtures in December are petty nice. I wouldn't break it up - I think Coleman is a very good differential.

am throwing this out there for the Liverpool fans on here as I'm genuinely curious

On the North West News last night they were debating the Balotelli issue and most (though not all) of the people they spoke to outside of Anfield said he should be sold as he was dragging the club's name though the mud. It struck me as curioius as I don't recall the same thing being said about Suarez (in fact i seem to recall the exact opposite)

    Firstly do you agree?
Secondly, what's the difference as i can only think of one?

I think it's a bit harsh singling out Liverpool fans tbh. They have their fair share of idiots but no more or less than any other team in the country. They have a lot of fans so it stands out more if you ask me.

What they don't tell you on the north west news is how many fans they had to interview before they found the clowns they were looking for. They're the ones they put in the TV and call it News!

Back in the day, I can see 'Pool fans really tearing a strip off Suarez during his "troubles". Tbh, I was still a bit surprised when that didn't happen.

Since then, I have been monitoring them on 606. There is a peculiar, and nasty undercurrent.

I'm surprised your surprised Doosra. Most fans are blind to any moral code and only care about the success of their team. When did you hear a Chelsea fan voice concern over the history of their owner. Or a West Ham fan for that matter.

He did a job against Everton. Problem is Pochettino is trying to find the winning formula and there isn't any real consistency from his players. Will know more after today, but I can't see the starting line up being different to the Everton game
