This afternoon, we roll out the second round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and cast our eye over the dramatic events of the first round.

Among the heroes of the first round were Ralphypne. His tally of 64 was the highest score of the round and earns him £25 worth of free bets with Paddy Power, thanks to Alan Hutton’s goal scoring prowess and his decision to captain Charlie Austin. He now faces up to 03protermic in the second round.

Other notable victors were Weston Wasters and Confundido, who respectively dispatched previous winners MCH and myself. Just one former winner remains, with GoonerDave left to carry the flag in round two, against community regular Aaron Ramessi.

In another key match up between regular community members Daniel emerged victorious in his clash with SuperDunny and will square up to BuddArmy in the second round.

Mark and Granville’s Scoutcast team also lost out, beaten by Clueless XI and his selection of Graziano Pelle as captain. Granville, however, marches on after beating Juramentardo and takes on Senile Delimquent in the second round.

The second round will also see a number of community regulars battle it out with Gnu taking on Arvin-ation, our moderator Greenwindmill facing TommyJ and Sporting against Bouncebackability.

Luke Keenan has one of the toughest second round matches,  drawing one of  the competition’s highest ranked managers Randymilla, who is 35th overall. A staggering 639,140 places separate this pair. Jimmy the Gent, who has a rank of 2,970, also has a tough draw, as he squares up to our highest ranked remaining competitor 29th placed Jonny.

The full list of first round results can be found here, while the second round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

    Is chambers to azpi worth a 4 point hit?

            I'm already doubting the one hit to get Hart and Dzeko!

            I think Foster/Panty, Kane & 4 points probably outscores Hart & Dzeko this week.

          Calm yer tits. He was playing single striker in a calm and controlled away game to one of the best sides in Italy. He did what was expected of him. Just cus he didnt put 3 goals in the top bin doesnt mean he was rubbish.

            I think you wouldn't find many objective viewers who didnt think dzeko was one of city's worst players on the night. Him or navas I guess.

              I have no bias towards City or Dzeko in any way. I just think if youre expecting Dzeko to go out and dominate the game away against Roma in Rome, then you dont know much about football or Dzeko in particular. He probably was one of their worst players, but that doesnt mean he played bad, the rest just performed really well.

  12. Wilshere Knowledge

    Our main problems are still defensively because Laurent Koscielny (calf from Southampton match) looks like he will not be quite ready, Nacho Monreal (foot) is not back and Calum Chambers is suspended. Mikel Arteta (calf) is not ready and Theo Walcott (groin) is out. Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) will be checked today and tomorrow, so we’ll see.
    on Theo Walcott…
    The signs are quite good. He has had two days of training now but he now lacks competition and fitness to come back to a good level.

    Monreal centre back again... 🙁

        Cus if they rush him now, he might suffer worse from it for the christmas period. And Wenger always does this with his central line, they all get injured from mostly fatigue every single season due to his inability to rotate successfully.

    Got no replies, so reposting:

    Pantilimon;
    Baines, Clyne, Wisdom;
    Hazard, Sanchez, Downing, Sigurdsson, Boyd;
    Diego Costa, Rooney.

    Subs: Krul*, N. Taylor, Austin*, Chambers*.

    0 FTs, £3.2m in the bank.

    Should I take a hit for Chambers -> ____ (Can afford any defender in the game)? And play him ahead of Boyd? Or am I good to go?

      I wouldn't say it's necessary, you have a full 11 to put out... I did take a hit for the same transfer this week though, purely because I was looking to get rid of chambers due to debuchy coming back...

      1. Mak_Gold

        Yeah, I can understand. If I do Chambers -> Azpilicueta this week, then next week I can do Costa -> Benteke, Downing -> Yaya Toure. Hits for consecutive weeks, but I'll be set up until the January wildcard. Cheers for the feedback. 🙂

    Ditch Downing or Siggy for Alexis?

    I feel like Downing will produce the odd assist while Siggy is more capable of goals and explosive returns, plus WHU have slightly harder fixtures, so keep Siggy and do Downing > Alexis?

        Mirallas is staying for QPR and then becoming Silva (I think).

          I can see reasons to keep for QPR. Not too big of a Silva fan though, think hes extremely underwhelming.

            Ha, yes. I know this all too well from experience that he is always the assist assister, and have often told people not to bother getting him. Those games though!

              Ive owned him multiple times in my time of playing this game too. Hes a fantastic player, but hes too much of an facilitator than an actual point machine for me. Fixtures are fantastic, but as much as it pains me to say, id rather just go Yaya or maybe even Nasri since hes quite cheaper.

                Yeah I was considering Nasri even before last night. He will start most games and has a lot more FPL end product than Silva. Cheers!

          At this point id probably even just go with the Ramsey gamble, if hes passed fit. The price difference and the differential potential.

            He was confident he was fit so you could be right. It's a shame that Theo didn't make it through his first attempt back into the squad, he'd be ideal now.

      a) change formatting
      b) Bartley will lose his spot soon, replace with S Taylor or Yun
      c) Sammy Ameobi? why?
      d) you know you have another WC you have to use by the end of January, right?

      The keepers, Clichy now Kolarov is back, Dummett with their run and injuries, Bartley won't last much longer, Sammy Ameobi can go.

          Sorry to rip it to shreds, but it's worth spending that extra bit of time thinking about things on a WC. Be comfortable with a cheap pair of GKs, maybe spend the extra on Zab or Kompany to be more assured, consider Sunderland defence with their home games, and Boyd would be the obvious choice for Sammy!

              Ameobi is useless isn't he? And can't be nailed. Only the 5th mid option, so not the priority either way.

    4. Debauchy
      • 13 Years

      Dont like it tbh

      If on a WC would do Hart and a 4.0
      Bartley to Wisdom
      Dummet to Debuchy
      Bolasie to Downing
      RVP to Dzeko or Costa

      Thats me though , who knows
