    are these OK moves?...

    Boyd --> Walters

    Dzeko --> Papiss Cisse

    also, does anyone know when players leave for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations? thanks

            Cisse less expensive tho, considerably--and Benteke hasn't been in good form for a while; Walters a reasonable choice for 5th midfield spot?--wouldn't play him in the tougher fixtures, but probably for the more favorable ones

              Haha not v sure about walters but bolasie is a decent option too. The reason i say not doing is becos i will not want to waste a transfer on that.

              Yeah cisse on form..but i prefer benteke home games during christmas. Cisse is certainly an option i agree

        why though--on Boyd? schedule getting tough, and it might help to have a 5th midfielder more likely to garner points

    GW 18 onwards..

    a) Nasri Downing Costa
    b) Yaya Siggy Jovetic
    c) Silva Sterling 8.5m FW

    *Benteke/Giroud/Jovetic

      Jovetic injuried..silva no1 to pass the ball to..yaya no1 to help him earn penalty..sterling on poor form..

      All the above shows that its too hard to predict. Maybe A is the best option but benteke instead of costa

      Start with Downing and work from there. I wouldn't want costa for the busiest fixtures either, he'll definitely get rested - I'll probably do Costa>Benteke in gw18 or 19 fwiw

    @Think Tank, regarding Kane.

    Kane stats:
    - Scored in 2 of his last 3 aways (avl & hull... only failed to score at chelsea)
    - A goal every 129 mins in aways (only Aguero, Cisse, Drogba, and Sakho/Valencia/Cole better that).
    - Goal or assist in every 86mins in the league in aways.
    - Goal or assist every 94 minutes in all competitions (in over 1000 minutes)
    - Only 4 strikers with 5 or more away appearances have better chances-per-minute

    Spurs:
    - Spurs have a better away record (3-2-2) than home record (3-1-4).
    - Spurs are 5th overall in attempts at goal away from home, despite having relatively tough fixtures (whm sun ars mci avl hul che)
    - Adebayor has been sent home to Togo for "personal reasons", so Kane is now nailed on with great fixtures: swa BUR lei MUN CHE cpl SUN wba (can bench him vs che)
    - Soldado played 70 mins in EL. If Soldado is out then Kane is on penalties.

    Seems silly to ignore such great value at 4.9m, especially when not many strikers are on form... only one striker (i.e. Ings) has a better than 5.4ppg average in their last 4.

        Carroll by comparison: 12 shots in the box, 44 penalty area touches.

        to be fair, hul EVE che CPL... a couple of those fixtures were very tough, and not many strikers get touches in the box against Hull due to how deep they defend. That Palace game is a worry though. Hopefully it'll improve.

    On the discussion Demi vs Zaba- I don't think Zaba will be rested again for a while. With all 3 star Strikers injured, City needs attack minded fullbacks & Zaba is much better than Sagna in that area. He had his rest & it's only 4 games from now on to FA Cup on 4th Jan where he'll obviously be rested. The dates of next 4 fixtures 20th, 26th, 28th, 1st. I think he'll play all of them. If you don't agree with me please do tell me why do you think he'll be rested again?

        • 13 Years

        Not sure about that. Surely Zaba is more of a threat going forward? Bdw. who is better in terms of earning Baps between them?

        This. Demi is also more likely to pick up BAPS.

    2. rickardinho
      • 11 Years
      11 years, 4 months ago

      Here is what i wrote throughout a discussion a the previous page:

      The only one I can see Zaba being rested for is BUR, and I have Hutton(SUN) or Kane(MUN) as 1st sub that week, and decent cover most other weeks too, so I would still buy him even if he were to get benched one game.

      Will be watching Baines like a hawk. Another blank and he'll be out of my team I think.

      I like having def's who have attacking threat, as they can clean up baps with a goal or assist even if the CS goes, whereas Demi or Mangala would be a nailed-on 2 pointer if one error happened.

      I can get CS potential from a 4.2 def like hutton or wisdom, but CS potential PLUS attacking threat is what you want when you go over 5-5,5m

      1. rickardinho
        • 11 Years

        Also, not that it matters, but I did say yesterday that I thought that Zaba would get rested for Leicester and Burnley but play the rest... and so far I'm right 😀

      Rotation isn't much of a problem with defenders as they tend not to come on as a sub. You have two sub defenders that can easily cover for you

        I try to always pick players who are 100% nailed, or at least close to it. You're only a couple of injuries or red cards away from a mini-crisis, and you don't want players getting rotated when that happens. Davies seems like a red herring or a mirage to me.

        Chelsea's away form is concern, they have only kept one clean sheet till date. Always concede that "one goal"
        Otherwise, Zaba and Terry for me too.

    I've seen a few Zabaleta vs Demi vs Clichy questions here, and I think there's two very important things some people overlook:

    1) Zabaleta might get rested for one game over Christmas (in fact it is very likely), but when he is rested, you can be sure that he won't come on as a late sub for a 1 pointer.

    In contrast, Clichy is likely to not play more than half the games (since Kolarov's attacking will be needed without a striker), while Kolarov himself is the ultimate 1pt troll, often coming on for 2-20 minute cameos.

    2) Demichelis might be nailed on now, but there's no telling how serious (or not) Kompany's injury really is. He looked fine walking unhindered off the pitch, and could return earlier than expected, forcing you into a FT or (-4) when it could have been avoided.

      FPL 2014 is turning out to be a Mexican soap opera. So many injuries plus defensively solid teams resting players make it impossible to predict the next move. Damn. I am loving hits at the moment though.

        sorry i have to disagree with the rotation part..its a known fact that zaba and to a lesser extent azpi (which probably explain y he is 6m instead of 6.5) is a risk in rotation..if u want little rotation get their captains like kompany and terry.

        as for injuries u can actually minimize the damage by saving FT whenever possible..for all the injuries and suspensions i have only spent 1 hit to swap out krul..others are all dealt with or using my bench

      If I may ask, what is it about Austin that you don't like?

      Seems to have it all going for him right now as an FPL option... home fixtures, form, pens, team is playing reasonably well of late, and he's cheap too. Would seem like a no-brainer as your Dzeko replacement if I say so myself.

          WBA only got CS's against a terrible hull team, and i doubt they would have kept Benteke out had it not been for the red card as Villa were doing well until then. QPR home games are manic too, and would at least be fun to watch with Austin captained, especially in the absence of any clear-cut choice.
