In light of Sergio Aguero’s knee injury, we delve into the data to highlight a number of forwards’ weekend displays. Wilfried Bony and Robin van Persie’s fine form arrives under the spotlight, whilst we also assess Diego Costa’s recent toils for Chelsea. The Gunners’ weekend scorers and Tottenham’s in-form Dane are also amongst this evening’s topics as Fantasy managers look to spend that left over budget from the Aguero fall-out.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

He's just not a natural finisher, great talent but needs to be played in the right position.

Right dilemma time. Thought I was all set on a City def this week for Chambers but I can do Marney-Eriksen before the price change tonight which would leave me .4 to do Clyne to Demi next gameweek if I go the Eriksen route then would have to be done tonight. What should I do? Eriksen or City def this week?

I guess a City clean sheet is probably a solid 6 where as Eriksen has a higher ceiling for scoring points and possibly double figures

        1. Indio
          • 14 Years
          11 years, 2 months ago

Yep, and a clean sheet can always get wiped out in a flash even if City dominate as expected. Maybe think of it like a benching dilemma - if you had both players and had to bench one, which it would it be? (I generally play the attacker)

          1. Spectrum-FFS Doubles Champ
            • 14 Years
            11 years, 2 months ago

My worry is a benching headache though with Marney at least he is always benched and therefore Im not benching the wrong player, with a strong 5 in mid it's quite possible that you will be benching the wrong player each week. Tricky decision this one.

            1. Indio

Sorry just seen this - yep I know just what you mean, and I usually avoid benching headaches for just that reason, but I reckon the holiday period could be ideal time to have strong bench, given the surprises that could be thrown up by some of the festive lineups. Anyway good luck mate.

I understand the criticism of Rodgers (anyone who knows me will know that I have been critical of certain aspects of his management) however Pool did create some great chances today. It is not Rodgers' fault that both Sterling and Balo should have done better (Sterling certainly, Balo had a great effort though I recall one or two others that could have been taken a bit better). Defensively it was still a disaster and Rodgers is culpable for that but really there was some improvement in certain aspects.

      Brendan's problems
      1. Bought too many players.

I don't understand how Pool thought they could replace Suarez with Lambert and Balotelli. Soo different type of players. Suarez always working hard and taking runs whilst Lambert and Balo are very stagnant. Does not fit at all in the philosophy BR had last season with sturr and suarez.

      No continuity in selection/tactics.

Sterling is not a striker, nor is he a right wing back.

Go back to the diamond/433 that was successful last season and stick with it.

I was a big fan last season, not sure why he's trying to be so clever with it this season.

He has always been too clever for his own good at times. Tries things that aren't needed, seems to be trying to solve problems that aren't there while ignoring those that are.

This is one of his biggest failings, when he falls out with a player that seems to be the end of that player at Pool. Borini is done it seems.

To an extent it's Rodgers fault if Sterling is missing chances when playing as a striker, which he isn't.

Obviously you expect Sterling to be able to finish, he is a very attacking player, but it is a different skill set. Playing someone OOP who doesn't do the job has to reflect on the manager.

Aye, thought it was a terrible decision myself. But if it had paid off (and we may as well be honest, Sterling's finishing is much better than what he showed today) he would have been hailed. Sterling is no striker at all, that was BR's fault but I can't blame him for Sterling missing some lovely opportunities.

Exactly. The man coming through the middle of the CB's from MF is being man marked out of the game. eg. Agbonlahor (sp?) for Villa at Anfield. Just get in the opp half FFS

Instead of spending $ on another CB (Vertoghen rumoured), spend a fraction of that on a defensive coach. Won't happen, but one can dream.

He's on my radar but I'm already 3-5-2 and I really wouldn't replace any of my mids with him (Downing, Siggy, Hazard, Sanchez, Yaya). If I did move one, he's probably third or fourth on my list.
