The ScoutCast – Episode 146 – Closer

Granville and I get cosy on a two-seater sofa – within touching distance – just how he likes it.

In truth, my-host is getting too close for comfort: the mini-league gap is down to just 42 points, with Granville relentlessly chiping away at my previously unassailable lead.

We review Gameweek 16’s events, including my oh-so bitter Dzeko pill, before discussing De Gea’s uncanny form, the demise of Leighton Baines and my latest set-to with Jonty: are there better options than Diego Costa up top?

The regulars wrap themselves around that lot, while Granville, thankfully, keeps his hands to himself.

Snuggle up to the noise via this link or get up close and personal via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Agree with Mark 100% RE Costa. People dismissing him so readily is a bit baffling to me

I was underwhelmed with my ownership as soon as I'd purchased him. Felt like I'd let myself down in buying him as soon as I hit the transfer button. Thinking of booting him in one of many transfer plans whirling round in my head below.

You hit the nail on the head so much here! Having him and not having him is constant torture; I'm never happy to get him in nor am I ever happy getting rid. Contrast that with Aguero who is just a constant joy to own.

Can anyone help with my dilemma?
Recently brought in Costa for Aguero but thinking of bombing in a double transfer -4 hit which will help me get Haz for Jed next week with money left in the bank. Sooooo,
How's about Costa & Berahino out for Kane & Austin, giving me a front 7 this week of
    Siggy Sanchez Yaya Downing
    Kane Rooney Costa

Then next week a front 8 which is the same as above but including Hazzard?

In my opinion, Kane and Austin are too weak to be with a deep lying Rooney.

Thanks. With Aguero gone I'm feeling more love for the mids at the moment. Keeping looking longingly at Haz (never owned this season) & Eriksen ( who I've owned in 2 of his low scoring periods so far this season), trying to fit them in to my team

352 very likely without Kun. Rotating between it and 343 myself. Had Hazard since the start, he's very fun to own at home!

This is why I'm thinking -4 this week with 2 strikers with appealing home fixtures, allowing me to transfer Haz in next week with money to spare for Jedinak when he'll be at home....mmm...very tempted.

Queen with Freddie Mercury. My 1st favourite group growing up in the 70s & 80s was Police. Moved on to Queen when I heard The Killer Queen album (from 1974) around 1982 aged 13, awesome record. Saved up my money to gradually by all the albums in time to catch time up with The Works album in 1984 & each one was a masterpiece in its own right. Lucky enough to see them in '84 at the NEC then at Knebworth in their final ever concert in '86. Subsequently seen both Brian May & Roger Taylor solo in concert, Brian May with Kerry Ellis & Queen with Paul Rogers (of Free fame) & due to see Queen with Adam Lambert, all the while knowing that I will come back disappointed again that I haven't seen Freddie pound out his stuff. Awesome, awesome, entertainer. I'm a lucky, lucky chap to be able to say that I saw & heard him perform not once, but twice.

Also got a soft spot for Blur. Very talented group. At their best in small venues. Came away from Manchester MEN in around 2001 very disappointed although had seen them in one of my all time favourite gigs at Morecambe Dome, a tiny venue, around '95 when a comedian I'd never heard of called Matt Lucas did the warm up & bombed. Also saw them a few years later at Blackburn King George's Hall when they were back to their best.

Ugh shameful. He had shown so much quality and ability wearing a USA shirt pity he couldn't transfer it to England. His hold up play is phenomenal...and he had been a pretty decent finisher for us just can't get it together for Sunderland. A move to Lille would do him a world of good.

Depends what time frame you're looking at. Eriksen for next two. Silva otherwise. However if Silva's plays false 9, then most definitely him.

        Nasri in the whole.

No reason for Clichy to be dropped atm. In great form. However, MP may be tempted to pick Kolarov now that more direct attack is required. Demi possibly more nailed on.

According to Di Marzio, Inter and Milan are tussling for Manchester City centre-back Matija Nastasic ahead of the January transfer window, with the Serbian pushing for a move having been frozen out at the Etihad this season.

    Once again, another wasted talent.
