I don't have any illustrations or links but if you work on the principle that more $ means you can afford better players generating more pts then it is clearly a good thing
Nope in the way that typical players view it.
View it this way - if you get good players in who score points, their value will rise eventually. It is the performance, skill and the role the player plays in the team that you should be looking at, not value.
If you only look at value, you become a point chaser. And whatever that goes up, comes down. Same in FPL, you might score a goal one week and not score the next. This is normal. By chasing value, what you are doing is that you are actually buy in at the times when the player is more likely than NOT to be not scoring.
Plus there are so many cheap/value players this season, I pretty much don't give a damn abt team value and I'm ranking ard 5k this season.Similarly, do not be afraid of letting go of players who have risen a lot in price if you believe that their performance will drop/won't sustain at such a high level (which has led to their increase in price).
This is because there are good and there are bad performances, besides ronaldo and messi, you can't expect a soccer player to score points after points each week. There will be dips in form or changes in a player's role and that's the time you need to quickly let go.
Besides, you earn half of the rise in price. If the player does not perform well, his price will dip and you can buy back without losing much.
Case in point, I bought Chadli/Downing after selling Siggy, bought Giroud after selling Alexis Sanchez (sold aguero to giroud for arsenal coverage) and bought Benteke for Costa (once Benteke's suspension was over)

- never owned Sanchez, Giroud fresh & in form....Fixture proof & delivers in away matches too. Holds up the Forward place nicely before I use Wildcard ,plays QPR ,STO & AVL in next 6, Captain material all those 3 weeks.

What's with all the Siggy sellers? I know away form is poor but still pretty good value right? With Agureo sells most teams going with 5 midfielders so can rotate most weeks
His home form hasn't been great either. The issue is that most have got he cash to upgrade him more consistent. Value is less important at the moment.

That's what I was thinking. Downing is pivotal to West ham as is Fabregas to Chelsea, and as you said Silva is very involved.
