After changing my transfers from Tadic -> Silva and Austin (C) to Tadic -> Eriksen and Eriksen (C) - a 29 point swing, with my rank dropping 1600 places, I need a good week this week!

Repost as bottom of page ðŸ™

There's been a lot of discussion over City defence rotation for the xmas period.

Zabaleta, Cliche, Mangala... I think I even heard Demichelis name thrown in. Seems like everyone wants one but no one wants to pick since we don't know who is getting rested.

The fixtures are amazing, so why not get two?

With the decline of Baines and no expensive viable forward left people have cash to spare and a premium defensive slot free, apart from Zab they are all pretty cheap. If they both play with the fixtures coming you have serious points potential, if one is rested then no big deal, one will play and a cheap option rotates in from the bench.

This also reduces the chance you have 2-3 premium defenders rested on the same game week as it seems unlikely they City would rest 2 out of the 4 in the same week, whereas if you have say, Zab, Api x then its feasible they all get rested in one week.

Bit of a long post, but the more I typed the more I got into the idea!

Are they a better option than chelsea? Im thinking of ignoring city and doubling on chelsea

Well Chelsea have West ham, Southampton and Spurs. 1 home game

City have West Brom, Burnley and Sunderland. 2 home games.

Really no guarantee that say Zabaleta AND Kolarov won't be rested on a given week

Well I guess it's feasible that Kolarov and Sagna could maybe start the same game together? Seems unlikely though, and you can avoid this by going Zab/Centre back

              • 12 Years

Clichy and Zaba were their best defs this season, no way they are rested both in one match imo

    3. Skokym
      • 12 Years

Clichy/Demi and Zaba? could work out!

      1. C-Dawgg
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 6 months ago

Yeah I think these would be the obvious two, there is no real replacement for Demi and Zaba/Clichy were both rested very recently.

        1. Skokym
          • 12 Years
          11 years, 6 months ago

well Sagna could play CB if needed, but in that case Zaba will be playing as well. Maybe Demi/Zaba is the best combo to have.

          1. C-Dawgg
            • 11 Years
            11 years, 6 months ago

Think I'm going Zaba/Clichy - As you said, they have both been outstanding and playing 90 mins where possible. No chance they both get rested same game week.

      • 11 Years

Instead of that why not invest on double City mids like Yaya and Silva... pretty sure you wo't go much wrong on that. What say?

      1. Skokym
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 6 months ago

no MID spot for both of them in midfields like Sanchez, Haz, Yaya/Silva, Downing/Siggy

      2. C-Dawgg
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 6 months ago

Yeah it's a valid idea, but there are SO many decent mid fielders I'm not sure it really matters who you have, there are points coming from everywhere.

I think the differential here will be getting a double city clean sheet, with potential attacking similar to that of a mid fielder which we all know Zab can do.

If that happened in even one of the 3 game weeks on top of the usual mid field returns.... That would be huge!

        1. C-Dawgg
          • 11 Years
          11 years, 6 months ago

This is a very roundabout way of me saying, I have no problems in my midfield, but with fixtures/form I need to ship Baines and Cresswell.

I can't understand the mass exodus from Siggy.
He has a knock, was rested as a precaution and should play over Xmas.

      agree 100% .

personally worked out for me as Siggy is a 2 point magnet away from home so Clyne went in for me ( 8 pts ) and I guess for many others Boyd went in ( 5 points ) . He will 100% play and doubt he was even unfit/injured tbh . ballsy by Monk to rest so many players away from home but fair play to him

Internets dead at home, so need to pick a captain that I won't be able to change for the next 3 matches while I'm off work..

    Options are probably;
    Sterling,
    Yaya,
    Sanchez,
    Oscar,
    Bony,
    Austin,
    At a stretch Baines

    Anyone any thoughts?

    Cheers, and Merry Christmas

Would you do Clyne/Baines to Terry/Zaba for free?

    Diego Costa is a fraud.

    - Since his exceptional first four GWs, he has only scored 5 goals.
    - No assists all season long.
    - More yellow cards than any other forward.
    - Never gets bonus points.
    - 11.2m?!

I'm just keeping him because virtually anyone in top owns him. If it was up to me I'd sell him in a heartbeat.
