Tonight we roll out the fourth round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as  look back at the nail-biting conclusion to the Third Round ties.

With a score of 105 points, Made of Stone achieved the highest haul of the round. Given his losing opponent Paul Penney notched up an impressive 84 points, it shows just how tough this competition gets towards the final rounds. Made of Stone’s heroics, which included captaining David Silva and having John Terry and Pablo Zabaleta in his defence, earn him a round four tie against Nordeast.

The Fourth Round sees two top ten players looking to progress further in the competition. Randy Milla sits in seventh overall and faces 1,217th ranked Whalley DJ. Meanwhile, Doctor101 may be a credible 2,431st overall but has the tough task of taking on eighth placed Never Trust Lukaku.

Another name to watch out for in round four is Granville. Our Scoutcast co-host saw off Huddy in round three and will meet Fantasypete next.

Other notable community match ups in round four include Tommy J against Louis Van Goal and Dez against Gimli son of Gloin.

The full list of third round results can be found here, while the fourth round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

    Jan WC thoughts...

Siggy to rotate with Bojan (obv)
Must get A. Young at all costs
    Lamela essential
    Begovic as keeper

    Have I missed anything?

        Yes! @Bebauchy's with the program.

Albrighton's a great GW1 bandwagon, I mean Jan WC prospect...
Surely he's nailed on & Lei looks a decent shout to do well.

Considering this move for a -4 hit:
Sanchez & Sakho out - Cazorla & Giroud in

I haven't taken a hit for a while & I could just do Sakho to Kane for free but imo there's more upside with Cazorla & Giroud.

    Will give me:
    Guzan
    Baines, Ivan, Zaba
    Cazorla, YYT, Hazard, Siggy
    Giroud (c), Bony, Austin

    Elliott, Downing, Chambers, Hutton

People have shot me down when I suggested replacing Sanchez with Cazorla but stats, points, playing position all favour Cazorla. Bringing in Giroud for a hit allows me to put Downing on the bench in case Hazard is rested & he seems a good captain choice this week.

Thoughts appreciated & thanks in advance.

I'm fully on board with this decision.

However, I would captain Cazorla. He's been immense for Arsenal, can see a haul for him on Friday.

How long would a Dummett > Azpi/Terry (-4) take to pay off?

If I make the move, I'd bench Hutton (swa).

    Yay or nay?

            Why, though?

Hutton could get a 1 pointer, Dummett/Newcastle is shite and Chelsea are good defensively (likely CS).

Hutton very likely will get a 1 pointer, but so may Terry, & so may he get one vs Saints away.

    -4pts 🙂

😉 Feel the boat has sailed for me on Eriksen, he's a great option for sure.
Sterling's OoP & great fixtures edges it for me.

High risk, high reward for sure, at 50k I think a cheeky little punt won't hurt me

Just that Balo's back & Sterling *has to* get a rest sometime, right?
As for the fixtures they're both pretty great.
              Maybe find room for both?

On the rest part, I'm almost certain BR said he'll be rested 'til after Boxing day.

Great point on getting both though O'S, I may have to if RvP finds a serious dip in form. Can't at the moment, RvP tied up all my Aguero funds 😉

Thanks for the insight O'S 🙂

I know its tempting after he didn't start, but there maybe a reason to that. Getting Sterling for Burnley is not a bad move but you may want to weigh your options.

I think Mourinho played it safe by starting two defensive mids (Mikel + Matic) at an away game at Stoke after what happened at Newcastle, where they got hit on the break twice. I think he was just trying to match Stoke's physicality.

Mourinho actually does rotate, and I'm pretty sure he will revert back to his normal lineup with Fabregas playing a bit deeper than Oscar in this upcoming home game vs West Ham You may want to just hold off just one more week as a rested Oscar may do some damage.

      Food for thought.

      1. Zasa
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 2 months ago

Great point Ruber, very good points. Thanks for the insight 🙂

For the record: My problem with Oscar isn't the rotation issue, or Fabregas, this isn't my knee-jerky response to his benching (although I was bit irked, thankfully JT saved my arse)

My problem lies in the points, that's all. He's not bringing them in, he's brought me 2 assists & 2 blanks, plus 2 subbed off performances since Gw14.
In that time period, all the replacements I was pondering on (for AdM), out scored him with ease (i.e, Downing, Eriksen, Cazorla, Silva, Mata 😯 )

Keep in mind, I'm playing a strict 343, no rotation or anything (Siggy's my 4th mid).
So there's little to no room for error in the coveted 3rd spot, if I was playing a more conservative game in the top1k, I'd keep him maybe.

Need to maximize possible point ceilings at the 8.0 price bracket, Oscar nearly only performs at home (ironically) & that isn't cutting it for me. A good top 10k differential, & catching points before the rest, gives me a better chance to smash into the top 10k.
Sterling has fixtures, OoP, who know's what will come of that 😉

I started off well (top 6k in the first week) and then had 7 straight red arrows in a row, was reluctant to use the WC. I finally used it 4 weeks ago and have made up most of the ground up by going 3-5-2. Now I am having fun because Captaincy options are so varied most weeks, plenty of opportunity to push ahead.

      Hey Triggs.

If Siggy's fit he could be a better option than Costa, but we both know the next 3 weeks is a lottery.

Exactly, we nearly all would, given just the straight choice. Its all down to perception over reality.
Siggi is outscoring Costa, who is taking us all for a ride , simply becaue he is chelseas main striker

With Costa, though, it's also the high point ceiling. He could score a hatrick any week. The nailed-on striker for the best team in the league that scores quite a few goals. I know his points production has sort of petered off, but he is not really on my list to get rid of. It's not like there are that many striker options out there screaming for inclusion based on recent form and upcoming fixtures. I am with Mark on this one.

I agree that the potential is there, but his recent form has got to be worrying.

Also missed some very easy chances last game (a breakaway and another open chance), so I think his morale is a bit in the gutter atm.

Costa has fallen from grace for a while, he's lost face.
Simply out of pure ownership, & taking your ranking into account, I would definitely Captain instead of Siggy.

Siggy's has very low ceiling compared to Costa, all down to goals. Siggy doesn't offer goals, never has. Costa will punish you tenfold compared to Siggy, you have more to gane than lose with the former.

Having said that, I would get rid when the opportunity arises

    Team for this week is.
