Four more players toppled off the Suspension Tightrope this week, with a couple of culpable parties earning their fifth yellow card during Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby. Cheick Tiote is unavailable for Newcastle’s upcoming trip to Old Trafford, whilst the Black Cats’ Connor Wickham sits out a plum home encounter with Hull.

The Tigers’ midfielder Jake Livermore will also miss that Stadium of Light encounter and Southampton will travel to Palace on Boxing Day without the services of skipper Jose Fonte, as Ronald Koeman prepares for yet another defensive re-shuffle.

In terms of the Tightrope, another three players made their way onto four yellows for the season – Santi Cazorla, John O’Shea and Erik Pieters are the latest new entries, taking the total to 32 players. Pieters’ inclusion means Stoke now have four players just a single card away from a ban, more than any other side.

O’Shea’s team-mate Lee Cattermole is now up to eight yellows in just 16 league appearances after being booked in the North East derby. The midfield enforcer had picked up a total of two reds and nine yellows across the previous couple of campaigns due to a lack of pitch time but is clearly keen to atone for lost time. If Cattermole is cautioned in both of the next two, he’ll face the ignominy of toppling from the Tightrope twice before the New Year is upon us.

Elsewhere, another two players fell foul of the referee’s wrath in Gameweek 17. Liverpool’s Fabio Borini made an impression for all the wrong reasons against Arsenal at Anfield. Replacing Lazar Markovic midway through the second period, the Italian collected a pair of yellows in just 16 minutes and will be unavailable for Friday’s trip to Burnley.

Villa’s Gabby Agbonlahor was due to serve a three-match ban after being sent off for serious foul play during last Saturday’s home draw with United. Earlier this afternoon, the FA overturned that suspension and the forward is available for selection with immediate effect.

Remaining on the sidelines are Hull midfielder Tom Huddlestone (sitting out the second of a four-match suspension) and Villa’s Kieran Richardson, who is serving the second of a three-match ban this Friday.

Paul Lambert welcomes back Alan Hutton and Tom Cleverley, though, as the midlands outfit look to push on from the draw with United. Southampton trio Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Wanyama and Florin Gardos are also available for selection as Ronald Koeman’s side head to Selhurst Park.

Mario Balotelli is back for Liverpool’s visit to Burnley after serving a one-match ban for his recent social media posts. The FA have revealed that they decided against dishing out a longer sentence due to the striker’s sincere and honest explanation.

Still got Jovetic in my team since he was injured.
Just keep him on the bench for another week hoping he comes back for Burnley or sell? Can field a decent team without.

thinking about running out like this..obviously if one of Haz/Sanchez is to be rested I'll start Chambo, but IF they both play, should I bench Downing for him? feel like Downing and Austin are hedge bets against Chambers and Terry as if QPR/WHM score, they're likely to be involved..

    ......................Guzan
    ...........Demi ᴰ Baines ᴰ Terry
    Yaya ᴹ Hazard ᴹ Sanchez ᴹ Downing
    ...........Austin ᶠ Bony ᶠ Giroud

    Gilks; Chambers, Marney, Hutton

Is Dummet to K.Toure a good move for a 4 point hit. Liverpool with very favourable fixtures and need to make sure i can rely on having 4 decent options with rotation risks. Current defence:
    DDG (Alnwick)
    Kolarov/Dummet/Yun/Azpi/Hutton

Pellegrini also confirmed @VincentKompany should be OK next week.

but 'next week' is vague..does it mean the 1st? does it mean the FA Cup? does OK mean for playing or for training?

Swansea away isn't super easy but Villa fixtures are beautiful (Benteke is my Bony replacement)..

Costa not worth the money, I would say go for it..

as far as SIlva, go with your gut there, but looks a good move with Jedinak set to leave for Asia Cup soon!

Sounds good to me but remember Costa can punish you at any time, best team in the leagues striker is bound to get goals soon...

Yeah, it hurts to let him go. I'm not so sure it's a smart move. But Benteke/Silva should outscore him during christmas, right?

Is it crazy to do sanchez>yaya ? Yaya looking beastly again and sanchez with a good chance of rest after that tough fixtures and yaya has two tasty home games. Sanchez back on wc

I'd rather have them both, but if I had to choose, I would go for Yaya.

I would wait. I know it's popular to say Sanchez will be rested, but we don't really know and he has the easiest fixture possible. Yaya is away to a decent defense and has 4 yellow cards.

Yes from me. ADM might do well from the get-go. Getting him now before price increases.

Keeping him until Agüero is back on track, but not remotely sure this is a good decision.

Merry ho ho ho.. Would you do Siggy -> Silva or Siggy -> Yaya? Was set on Silva, but afraid of what the troll could do..

I'd keep Siggy this week. Prefer Yaya out of the 2 but ACON is coming up soon so he's effectively a 3 week punt (2 if you do it next week so Silva is the better option)

Thanks Beavis. Easy to 'downgrade' Yaya to Silva when he laves for ACON or gets a YC. Think I might offload Siggy, want a City mid and prefer to keep Downing even though his next two games are looking tough!

Pellegrini also confirmed @VincentKompany should be OK next week.

'next week' is vague..does it mean the 1st? does it mean the FA Cup? does OK mean for playing or for training?
