Actual Bonus Points will be shown when added – all points are provisional until then.

Gameweek 19

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hi

    just back from hols

what's happening with the EPL cup on the website

It says I am disqualified as I had a rank of 2.5million when in fact I I have a rank of 160k

(had a look at my mates team and he is the same)

    Looks a bit fishy

you qualify based on your GW 17 score

Assume what's happened is your gameweek rank was 2.6m and only top 2m qualified. Overall rank irrelevant

Its based on game week ranking (for week 17 i think).

my overall rank was ~60k and i didn't qualify either

Okay guys so I'm not even close to a decision yet. Let's try narrow it down..
Which defence should I invest in this week, as a replacement for Kelly.

    A. Liverpool
    B. Villa(have Guzan)
    C. West Ham
    D. United

    Cheers!

Who to bench from this front 8?

    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
    Costa, Austin, Kane

Kane is probably the right call on paper, but he has looked great in recent weeks.

      its a tough one.

If spurs score a goal vs chelsea, one of kane or eriksen will involve.

I would bench Downing as I feel he will be rested

People worried about factoring Kun from now it's foolish.

By the time he is playing 80+ min games and banging them in it will be over month and a half from now.

And by then, you should have been able to maneuver your transfers to have the money freed up anyway.

Bottom line, play with the next 3 to 4 game weeks in mind only. Anything beyond that and a nice old injury to another mane cog will ruin any plays you put forth from now.

Where do you think anyone here is getting their clean sheet odds from if not from sources like this?
The bookmakers are the people who set the odds after all.

These are the professionals who make a living setting lines...

Respectfully, this community is amazing but, I don't know if there's a full-time bookmaker / professional handicapper among us, is there?

Bookies odds are mainly based on which odds are in high demand i.e. general consensus. What I am looking for is not what majority thinks, but analysis of fixture difficulty which bookies don't present to the public.

                      > Bookies odds are mainly based on which odds are in high demand i.e. general consensus

                      This statement isn't entirely accurate...
While certain *pubic* teams can move a line slightly (think Man Utd or Arsenal) due to the volume of bets their fans will place; overall, bookmakers are looking to find a # that will hopefully create an equal amount of action on each side & then profit by taking the vig.

Moreover, the volume of $ / ticket count for a prop bet like clean sheet odds wouldn't be high enough even for fans of these public teams to skew these odds to a point that they wouldn't be useful to us.

                      > analysis of fixture difficulty which bookies don't present to the public

This is precisely what they're presenting to the public though... They're the ones setting the odds!
And like any market, the betting market will *correct* itself too.

                      1. Nico.

Your argument on both points are that the general public heavily take into account fixture difficulty, and less so on club affinity. I disagree with this. The fans don't have access/don't bother with stats when deciding whether to bet for a particular odd. What they do take into account is the history of the teams e.g. past meetings between the two sides and injury concerns of the two teams (things that they know thru following football regularly, without going into deep analysis) and, of course, club affiliation. This does skew the bookies odds horribly as important factors like the attacking threat of the less known opposition (and other factors that I can't think of right now) are not taken into consideration.

These are the factors that are EXTREMELY heavily analysed on this site and hence, I personally believe that the opinion of people on this site is better than that of the bookies/general public.

                        Ta. 🙂

I got him a few weeks back based on his fixtures, and no worries about long term as wildcard is coming. I would assume the same logic was used by others.

Question I am sure some are struggling with.

Do Giroud owners hang on and start next GW or maybe cash in by going Tekkers or another qualify forward this week and bending 5th mid (usually a poor away fixture).

Van Persie and Austin. But I do take your point.

Costa has THREE shots on target, over the las FOUR PL matches. Crappy.

hmm I watched RVP against spurs and his finishing was simply dreadful.

Austin is the one who maybe can be said is up there for me.

Yeah, horrible. Terrible fpl value aswell, won't be coming near my side unless BIG improvements are made statistically and performance wise

If you really maintain that, then you weren't watching properly. Sorry! 🙂

SoT aren't what we're *really* worried about though...
I mean obviously it's nice when a player puts the ball on net!
Although, in the end SiB is the number we're really concerned with.
            SiB = Goals!
