Used to work as an actuary. Was a dreadfully dull and depressing job. But well paid
I think it depends .obviously some difference between general insurance and life insurance and pensions.
then also difference between multinationals and just local companies.
pricing seems to be more fun than reserving, reporting. capital modelling very interesting for from what I heard.
also with developments in solvency II there are many roles in consultancies and in investment banks.

i did maths and stats at Newcastle uni. Breezed through and got a 2:1 just by learning the past papers
I then went on to London to work as an actuarial student with Aon. I got one study day a week and was expected on top of that to do 20-30 hours study a week in spare time. Exams were hardest I have ever sat. You need a massive amount of dedicationThe studying needed to become an actuary can be tough but, if you make the effort, can be rewarding. Statistics is a more general field. imo you don't need actuarial science to follow that career and are probably better off following a course with broader applications.

And to be fair I used to use my study days to get to old Trafford for mid week games 😉This. Study at weekends. Use study days for things you'd normally do at weekends. Much less stressful.
studied act science...hard indeed but i took the wrong approach and cramming and just passing through.
wasnt good at what i did but was paid well. opted to do my cfa ratherisn't CFA even harder to study?

Main ML rival has cut my lead from 80 to 37 points mainly due to my poor/unlucky captains choices. This week he will stick with silva who has served him well last two gws. He's predictable. Should I stick with Austin after last week, switch to hazard who likes Spurs or play safe with silva even though I'm not convinced he can keep conversion rate up!

I Have Downing, Haz, Erickson, Sanchez and Silva, I considering to get either Fab or Sterling, what do you guys think? IMO I'm thinking to let Sanchez go, seeing that the others have solid fixtures, but with Walcott returning soon, that may be a dumb move, and after all he is top of the charts half way through?
